Instead of turning to alcohol or durgs when stressed, christians turn to praying. doesn't it kind of seem like an addiction? I had a dream where i was arguing with a christian and i made this point and it shut them up.

I guess it could be...but what is the harm, so long as it doesn't prevent them from functioning? There are no physical costs, it is free to pray, it's something you can do WITH your family...
FYI, this point would NEVER shut me up...it was just a dream!

An "addiction" as you call it, must be detrimental for the body with physical consequences. From this perspective, Prayer may not be considered an addiction as its effects are none but beneficial to whoever practices it.
Having said that, we as followers of Christ are required to "pray without ceasing", and not only when we are stressed. If this is considered an addiction, so be it, I feel privileged to have such a burden!
You will never shut me up when it comes to defending my love for my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

Not an addiction, but a habit and a good one at that! Alcohol and drugs can only bring a person unhappiness, praying to God will bring happiness into your life. It is the one way that we can communicate with God.

that was a dream. dont count on shutting up a Christian about prayer in real life. and no, its not an addiction. although i wish it was. besides, whats your point? are you saying that turning to drugs or alcohol is better than turning to God for help?

No,it's not an addiction. It's based on the freedom of choice and people resort to it when ever they want and are not compelled by the withdrawal systems or the compulsions of the habitual behaviour.Never mind what happened in the dream? If you tell one dream, then be honest to tell the other one, which wasn't so pleasant.

Yes, perhaps it is an addiction if it does not do any good... and from what I hear, it does not work all that well.
But being in the light works good. But that is a different kind of thing. More on my bio.

The best kind of addiction. It does not kill brain cells, or rot your teeth, and gives you peace and harmony that is real and not a placebo, because it's the real thing. It gives you a spiritual high that you don't come down from either. God lifts you up when you lift Him up and you stay there.

You can call me a prayer-addict anyday. I've always got to have my fix!

It is an addiction which I'm pleased to have as I can commune with God as friend to friend.

Prayer is a waste of time. Name one amputee whose limbs have regrown through the power of prayer. I'm still waiting for god to give me a new gall bladder and adrenal gland.

Usually when people talk to themselves on a regular basis they get locked up for being cracked in the head
