If you had a dream where god told you to kill your son, would you do it?

Abraham is revered for this sign of true faith - though god only had to see he would actually have gone through with it - and spared the kid.
Do YOU have that kind of faith?

Unfortunately I probably wouldn't have had that measure of faith..

No, and neither had Abraham. The binding of Isaac happened in a lucid dream or vision. Abraham was slumbering while considering how strong was the love of Pagans for their gods as to come to the point of burning their own firstborn son in a sacrifice offering. That was very common in the Canaan of the time of Abraham. Then he entered into a trance or lucid dream, and saw himself doing the same with Isaac to prove that he loved God as much or more. To interpret it literally we would be entangled with contradictions in the text.

I'd kill your son first before I kill mine. Unlike Abraham, I have no faith in dreams. I always dream I won the lotto jackpot but the most I get right are only two numbers out of six.

That is not faith. It's insanity. Abraham came from a land that passed their children through the fire. Or, burnt them alive. Yahweh was one of those gods that demanded human sacrifice. Get real. Abraham is not to be revered for almost killing his son. If that happened today, the father would be in the chair or getting his last bump. We have evolved spiritually beyond such crap. Why haven't you?

No I wouldn't.
The God I believe in would never ask that.
That would be asking if my belief in him was so great that I would kill my own morals. My God upholds all morals.
Maybe Satan would. But then he is bad. I can not obey him. I would rather go to hell and be comfortable with myself and with my knowledge that I did the right thing.
Honestly, the God of the old testimate can be sort of scary sometimes - he gets better in the new testimate.
And if you killed your son and found out that wasn't god - it was just a dream?

I hope i would.
Isaac was 30 something according to Jewish history and willingly participated in the "commandment".
It was symbolic of the ultimate sacrifice of Christ to bring home to you what the Father (God) was giving, when he allowed his only begotten Son to suffer willingly in the atonement for you and me.
Its the rail car story. Man had to change tracks because of collision, His son on one of the tracks. Sacrificed his son rather than kill the people?

Thankfully...no.
Atheists cheer at a shining example of religious folly...
Religious people sympathize but chose not to answer the question...
And knowone sees how evil and artificial the concept of an all powerful being asking you to KILL YOUR SON to show your faith or...whatever...truly is.
But hey...each to his/her own.

Abraham's willingness to obey God in sacrificing his son Isaac,foreshadowed/symbolized God himself sending his only begotten son Jesus to the earth to sacrifice his life in behalf of mankind - John 3:16. There would be no reason for God to ask someone to do that today, and there is nowhere in the Bible where God commands us to do anything like that. If someone had a dream like that, it definitely wouldn't be from God.

No I wouldn't but God was a very different God to a very different primitive culture in the Old Testament

NO, as God has already used that one to teach us about faith.
There are other ways out there right now, to demonstrate faith, but many are choosing not to accept the challenge and show their faith.
Like reading the Book of Mormon, for example, and then praying to God about it with sincerity and in faith. As God has explained in James 1:5 in the Bible, he will manifest the truth of all things to us. All we have to do is be sincere and do it in faith.

Abraham's decision was heavily influenced on the fact the child was a miracle cause he and his wife were soo old. Also God directly spoke with Abraham and told him His plans.
Abraham's decision is heavily based on his circumstances.

My son went to be with the Lord several years ago, so your question is moot.
Also, God doesn't require such things now. He has other ways of testing us, such as being patient with obnoxious questions.
And yes, my faith is extremely strong.

I don't think so. Having neither a son nor a God, it'd prove a bit difficult.

Hell, Abe didn't care he had a dozen wives, he knew he could get another son where he got that one.
He probably had one or two "in the oven" anyway.

i thought it was isaiah that was tested.
no, i would not obey because that is not God telling me those things.
i read in the bible somewhere, not to let your dreams decieve you because they are just dreams. ( when i read, i really need to start making notes because i can never remember where i read something)

No. I would have told god to stuff it. That's not faith - that's blind obedience. If having more loyalty to my family than to some deity is a sin, then reserve me a nice place in Hades, Hell, or Hel.

Mama, just killed a man...
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger now he's dead...
Mama, I don't want to die...
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all...

Abraham was a pimp... Really... Read about him... The whoring of his wife is nothing in comparison to traumatizing his son though - what an ***.
