Why don’t we find human & dinosaur fossils together? Can the Bible explain this? Why do fossil records not support the Bibles version of events on earth?

Are the majority of scientist lying to people?

Basically, this is how it works

Deny

Discredit

Accept

Assimilate

First, the literalists denied the existence of dinosaurs. And claimed the fossils were laid by the devil to fool humans.

Next, they discredit the paleontologists, claiming that all the fossils found were buried by the paleontologists themselves in some great conspiracy.

Then some will accept it in light of mountains of evidence.

Finally, they'll wedge it, reinterpret various versus and say "HA! Here it is in the Bible! It was right all along!!"

I imagine the same thing will happen with abiogenesis. in 50-60 years they'll claim "HA! abiogenesis is mentioned in the bible when god created man out of dirt!! the dirt was primordial ooze!!"

My question is why fossil records don't support the evolution of humans from apes on down the line; we should see thousands of fossil examples of slight variations, producing that famed illustration that shows the ape becoming a man.

The Bible doesn't attempt to answer scientific questions, so probably not. It wasn't written with that intent. We always think that what we have been able to discover from science, and what we interpret from the evidence, is always the whole story. But then we find new scientific evidence that contradicts it. If we learn anything it should be to not put too much stock in our own limited views. If you believe the Bible is true and accurate, then don't worry about it. Science "supports the Bible" in so many ways, but we will always find ways it doesn't. Does that mean the Bible isn't true and accurate? No, it means that something we've dug up seems to show otherwise. Think about court cases, and how a boatload of evidence can seem to prove that someone committed a crime, but that it may still not be the truth. And if you believe the Bible is bunk, then what do you mean by scientists lying to people? Most scientists will do whatever it takes to prove that God and the Bible are false, even as far as saying aliens must have provided the original matter to start earth evolution, since the timeline previously suggested by scientists couldn't have possibly created the level of intelligence we have now by natural, evolving means. So yeah I'd say the majority are twisting evidence. Usually when a theory doesn't result in the evidence that supports it, they go back to a new theory. They didn't do that with evolution though! They'll hold fast till they die.

As dewcoons explained, the Bible does mention various creatures which appear to be dinosaurs from their descriptions. There are also many evidences from around the globe that man and dinosaurs co-existed until fairly recent times....as opposed to the evolution model. There are also many dragon myths from various cultures which seem to be describing dinosaur-like creatures....are they all just co-incidences?

We have found dinosaur and human or other animal footprints together.....does that count?

http://www.bible.ca/tracks/tracks.htm

The reason we don't find dinosaur and human fossils together is that the humans which were living at the time of Noah's flood probably evaded the flood waters for a time either by clinging to simple rafts or finding higher ground for a while yet the flood waters covered the whole earth for at least half a year which would have caused those people to drown or starve eventually....not being prepared for an extended sea voyage as Noah was.. The fossilization process takes a certain amount of the right conditions for it to occur also....the creature or person would have to be rapidly buried in the right type of sediments. There were millions of bison roaming the Western US for centuries and no one has ever found a fossil of them either.

And the fossil record, for the most part, does support the abrupt appearance of creatures and extinction....in agreement with the Genesis account of Creation and a global flood which caused the extinction of many creatures who were not preserved on the Ark..

If you read the Bible, you would discover that it has over 30 references to dinosaurs within it.

You will not find the word "dinosaur" in the Bible because it was first coined in the 1840's. As the Bible is much older then that, and the English versions date from the 1600s, they use the older word "dragon" to identify what we call dinosaurs today. (As did science until the 1840s).

Two of the most amazing are in the book of Job, where God in chapters 40 and 41 speaks of two beast called the Behemoth and the Leviathan. The first matches what you would think of as a "bird hipped" dinosaur (such as a T-Rex or Raptor), while the another is a "lizard hipped" dinosaurs (the four legged kind). These are the two major categories used by science today to classify dinosaurs. Somehow the author of Job knew that centuries before modern science discovered it.

The author also credit to God a very accurate and detailed description of the creatures, including the bird-hipped dinosaurs powerful tail and their massive size. For them to have known all that, either they had seen living dinosaurs, were better scientist then anyone until the 19th century, or they were told of this by God (like the poem claims). Feel free to pick the explanation that makes the most sense to you.

The Bible also speaks of the dinosaurs being destroyed at a time "in the past" by a great disaster that God brought onto the earth. Again the idea that the extinction of dinosaurs is due to a disaster is a modern idea.

Whether that disaster was the Great Flood, or an event that happened prior to the creation of the plant, animals and humans of Genesis 1 is a debated issue by Bible scholars. There are several statements in Genesis (such as God's command to the animals and humans to REplenish the earth) that imply an earlier creation.

The Bible also speaks of "dragon" remains being found in desolate and wilderness places. It uses them as a metaphor several times for something that was completely destroyed by God. Again, the knowledge that the fossils and bones were part of dinosaurs is an idea that science did not discover until the 1800s.

Now science may have added a new piece to the puzzle to support Genesis 1. The current theory is that whatever dinosaurs survived the disaster (flood, meteor, God's wrath, or whatever) have become today's bird. This would place them before land animals and humans on the developmental tree.

Note that Genesis 1 states that first "fish" and then birds where created. Then it becomes a new day (or era) and the mammals and humans appear. Just what science is now suggesting happened. Birds are the remains of an earlier era. Something it appears the author of Genesis knew, and science is just now starting to guess. The only form that the author of Genesis (or Adam and Eve) would have seen dinosaurs in would be in the form of ... birds!! So if they wanted to write about dinosaurs being created before mammals and humans, it is only logical to say the birds were created first.

So the Bible appears to explain dinosaurs (now represented by their only living members as birds) as being created in an era before humans. They were once mighty and powerful creature divided into two major classes (bird hip and lizard hip). They were destroyed by a disaster that God brought on the earth. And are now only found in the form of fossils and bones.

That explanation appears to match well with what science tells us about dinosaurs. So I find no reason to reject belief in a first Man and Woman because dinosaurs existed since the Bible talks so much about their existence.

The topic of dinosaurs in the Bible is part of a larger ongoing debate within the Christian community over the age of the earth, the proper interpretation of Genesis, and how to interpret the physical evidences we find all around us. Those who believe in an older age for the earth tend to agree that the Bible does not mention dinosaurs, because, according to their paradigm, dinosaurs died out millions of years before the first man ever walked the earth. The men who wrote the Bible could not have seen living dinosaurs.

Those who believe in a younger age for the earth tend to agree that the Bible does mention dinosaurs, though it never actually uses the word “dinosaur.” Instead, it uses the Hebrew word tanniyn, which is translated a few different ways in our English Bibles. Sometimes it’s “sea monster,” and sometimes it’s “serpent.” It is most commonly translated “dragon.” The tanniyn appear to have been some sort of giant reptile. These creatures are mentioned nearly thirty times in the Old Testament and were found both on land and in the water.

In addition to mentioning these giant reptiles, the Bible describes a couple of creatures in such a way that some scholars believe the writers may have been describing dinosaurs. The behemoth is said to be the mightiest of all God’s creatures, a giant whose tail is likened to a cedar tree (Job 40:15). Some scholars have tried to identify the behemoth as either an elephant or a hippopotamus. Others point out that elephants and hippopotamuses have very thin tails, nothing comparable to a cedar tree. Dinosaurs like the brachiosaurus and the diplodocus, on the other hand, had huge tails which could easily be compared to a cedar tree.

Nearly every ancient civilization has some sort of art depicting giant reptilian creatures. Petroglyphs, artifacts, and even little clay figurines found in North America resemble modern depictions of dinosaurs. Rock carvings in South America depict men riding diplodocus-like creatures and, amazingly, bear the familiar images of triceratops-like, pterodactyl-like, and tyrannosaurus rex-like creatures. Roman mosaics, Mayan pottery, and Babylonian city walls all testify to man’s trans-cultural, geographically unbounded fascination with these creatures. Sober accounts like those of Marco Polo’s Il Milione mingle with fantastic tales of treasure-hoarding beasts. In addition to the substantial amount of anthropic and historical evidences for the coexistence of dinosaurs and man, there are physical evidences, like the fossilized footprints of humans and dinosaurs found together at places in North America and West-Central Asia.

So, are there dinosaurs in the Bible? The matter is far from settled. It depends on how you interpret the available evidences and how you view the world around you. If the Bible is interpreted literally, a young earth interpretation will result, and the idea that dinosaurs and man coexisted can be accepted. If dinosaurs and human beings coexisted, what happened to the dinosaurs? While the Bible does not discuss the issue, dinosaurs likely died out sometime after the flood due to a combination of dramatic environmental shifts and the fact that they were relentlessly hunted to extinction by man.

I have heard a firsthand story that illustrates why we do not know about such findings. A man I respect (call it hearsay if you wish) told me that he used to operate a bulldozer. He had been told that it was suspected that he would find fossils at a certain job location. He was advised to call the experts if that happened. He found something and called. When they came out, they uncovered the remains of a dinosaur above the remains of a human. They assumed it had somehow appeared later and threw it out. I believe that happens often.

I happen to know of a website that you could visit if you are genuinely interested in a possible answer to your question.

It is obvious to me that humans, who were the dinosaurs masters, saw them as beneath them, and rightfully so. They burried the dinosaurs in undignified positions to show just how little they thought of them.

God didn't care for the dinosaurs, obvious He had the forsight to know that they might one day come back and ruin Jeff Goldblum's career....so God smited them while he could and let the humans live.
My account has been compromised!

You're about to open a vast and noisy pandaora's box of bogus science, ludicrous misconceptions about the nature of science, and heaps of falsehoods about the fossil record....

good luck.

Yeah, when Noah built the arc it wasn't big enough to take dinosaurs, so that's why they all went extinct.
