The term "chosen" is unfortunately; it implies something that isn't correct. We Jews do not believe that G-d chose us, but rather that we chose to keep G-d's covenant.

All righteous have a place in the world to come, no matter what their religion (or even lack thereof).

Our way is right for us, your way is (I would hope) right for you....that's one reason that our way is NOT to proselytize.

In Judaism NON -JEWS can have a place in the world to come & it's based on actions, not belief.

That's why we dont' work to convert people -- you don't have to be Jewish to have a good pathway to God.

We were chosen to be Jewish & practice Torah & bring the idea of God to the world simply by practicing our religion. It's gone well. Many folks do follow a single God, & very few still worship with active human sacrifice. Most live under a law system that's the same regardless of status rather than special rules for ruler-god-people (which was a novel idea at the time that Torah brought.)

In Judaism God may chose others for a different path. It isn't an exclusive term. It's CHRISTIANITY that renamed it to be exclusive, then assigns it to Jews, then claims they are now the replacements. Won't make sense for them to be replacements, if they didn't first claim us to be special? (EDIT: Even where replacement theology has fallen away the exclusive definition remains. Also as you read these other answers, many of the modernized versions of it aren't much more tolerant of Judaism.)

So there you have it.

This site has more: http://www.jewfaq.org And since I've answered this question at least 8 times in the last 4 days, I need to write a much fuller pre-fab answer...

P.S. If you watch, the term is rarely brought up by anyone Jewish - it's always Christians (usually certain denominations) that bring it up. If someone does & says they're Jewish in YA, you can wonder if they really are...

The question is not what you or I think, but what's G-ds opinion in the Hebrew Bible. Jews & Christians both agree on that, so it would be foolish to start quoting the NT.

G-d never says only Jews go to Heaven (in fact, there's no mention of Heaven in the Hebrew Scriptures at all!), but I would suggest that one needs to evaluate whether worshipping Jesus is 'kosher' or not.

G-d seems to spare no words telling us to avoid idolatry and only worship the One G-d who took the Israelites out of Egypt. Jesus was not revealed on Mt. Sinai, Jesus did not take the Jews out of Egypt, and none of the patriarchs or prophets believed in a Trinity.

Now consider, if Jesus is NOT G-d, then those who point to him and say he is a god are committing idolatry. That's a very serious charge, so I'd suggest that you see what the Hebrew Bible says- are we allowed to worship a man, or does G-d forbid this in the strongest sense?

As a Christian I believe that the Jews are indeed God's people. They have a valid covenant with God. We do not replace the Jews and will never replace them. Those that say that all Christians represent this is wrong. I am one who thinks replacement theology is wrong and I will not go to a church that teaches this kind of lie. Besides, if God breaks a covenant with the Jews, He will break one with us too. It does not make sense to me. There are very few churches still teaching replacement theology in Christianity. Those that do are usually not growing and are spiritually dead. You can go there, but God does not show up in their churches!

Just because God has a covenant with Jews does not mean He excludes others from worshiping Him. If we read the OT we find out that God has a plan to include gentiles through a Messiah that would come through the Jewish people. In this way, all nations will be blessed. As Christians we believe that Jesus was sent as a light to the gentiles. Without Christ we would still be worshiping rocks and crazy stuff like the pagans(our ancestors). It was the Jewish people who gave us Jesus. It was Jesus who taught us about God. Through Jesus, we were shown the love of Almighty God. That is why our Jewish Jesus told his disciples to take the Gospel to the whole earth. Through Christ,we have a new covenant that makes provision for our salvation through the blood of the Lamb. It was a blood covenant made for us at the cross. This plugged us in to be blessed as children of God also. This covenant does NOT invalidate the one that God made with Abraham.

We Christians believe that the Jews were like the natural children of God and we are those who were adopted later. The covenant of the Jews is valid to God and so is the covenant of the New Testament. God loves all His kids.

He is a God of promise and does nothing without covenant. Most of us Christians appreciate the vast knowledge the Jews have and look forward to learning the Torah from them. We do not know it like they do. We do not understand most of it like they do, since it was given to them.

What is supposed to happen to us as Christians is that we are to follow Christ. God has plugged us into salvation at the cross, and this is what we believe. This does not mean God is replacing the Jews in any way. He loves them now and forever. This just means God made a way for us too. He loves us and has worked out our salvation also. He is a great God!

Ok, hope this answers your question.

Do you have a job? If so, chances are you were hired for it. Basically that's what the Judaism means by being 'chosen'. Lots of people, lots of jobs. Things work.

The Christian definition of 'chosen' is rather different. They've decided that it means 'one and only', that G-d has fired us and given them the job and that we and everyone else is out of luck. And then some of them blame us for it.

It's very strange.

The Messiah came to the Jews first, just as the Prophets prophesied. The Jews rejected Him. The gentiles have been grafted in, as was always God's plan. Ruth was a moabite woman. (a gentile) who chose to follow God and was also part of the lineage that the Messiah would come through. It was always God's plan to save the world. (those who would be saved) God chose the Jews as His representatives on the earth, but again when Messiah came they missed His visitation, therefore the first shall be last and the last shall be first. The Christian gentiles and the Jews who now have come to the knowledge of Christ and have received Him, will NOT endure Jacob's trouble. (the Great Tribulation), but Messiah is coming again and 144,000 Jews will be sealed during the tribulation, and many Jews and Gentiles who did not receive Christ prior to the Great Tribulation, but repent during, and who many of will be martyred for Christ's sake shall be saved.

The Jews can no longer come to the Father without going through the Son, now that the Son (the Messiah) has come, so no amount of OT traditions, ceremonies, sacrifices will be sufficient to save them.

Read Hebrews chapter 10. The Messiah is the Lamb of God and His sacrifice is now the only one God will accept. All of the OT traditions, ceremonies, sacrifices, burnt offerings etc., were all just shadows of the things to come. Messiah has come and so again, He is the only way to the Father for Jew or Gentile.

Believe and follow Him and you shall be saved whether you be Jew or Gentile.

PS. The covenant with Abraham is the same for all, and was also a shadow of the covenant through Christ for all people. The covenant with Abraham was before the law of Moses given to the Jews.

The Jewish peoples are YHWH chosen people, they are "The apple of God's eye" and He has a seperate covenant with them through Abraham and God does not break His covenants,Jesus is for you(The Gentiles)that was Jesus' purpose, these 2 are seperate, but the new testament and Jesus did not "do away" with God's covenant with the Jews,it just made a way through Jesus to include the Gentiles for salvation.

The everlasting Covenant is not the one given to that nation of Israel. It is the one given to Abraham, not in circumcision but in uncircumcision. Thus it was not to a natural people, called Jews. Rather it is to a spiritual people called Jews. It is not the natural Jews. It is the spiritual Jews. Christians, people of Faith. It is not replacement theology. We have always been the chosen of God, the ones in Faith. We will never be replaced.

those of Faith have always been the chosen of God and will never be any others. What a sad thing to see Christians bowing in ignorance before natural folks, calling themselves Jews, and thinking they are the chosen of God. No. God chose the ones of Faith, no matter what nationality they came from.

That has always been the truth. It is true today. Without Jesus Christ no one is the chosen of God. He did not choose according to flesh. He chose according to who has faith and who servers God by the Spirit.

It is not by law. It is by the Spirit, the Holy Ghost. Now if Jewish people do not have this, they are none of his. If any other races of people have this, they are God's true people.

It is time you, the world, learns this great truth. Stop thinking that God chose one certain group of people and not others. It is lies of Satan.

If you have the Holy Ghost you are seed of Abraham and heir of God through Jesus Christ, and there is no other way. Never has been any other way.

He is not a Jew who is one outward, but he is a Jew who is one inward. Why do you all overlook this? I think it is because you do not belong to God and never read his word.

Going to some church does not save you. Being born of a 'jewish' blood does not save you. Being born again by the Spirit of God is all that can save you, any of you. You who think you are special to God because of what your human flesh is, are sadly mistaken. I am God's child. Not by natural birth, but by Spiritual birth. and that is the only way anyone has ever or will ever be God's child.

If you have true Faith in Jesus Christ, you are God's child. Without Faith it is impossible to please God. God destroyed that old nation of unbelievers and idol worshipers, for they were not his people.

11Cor. 3, proves that God abolished that old law covenant. It was not his choice or his plan.

Judaism isn't the LORD Gods religion. Only the foundational elements of it is. Because Judaism has denied the Father & the Son.

Romans2:28 For he isn't a Jew ho is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, that is outward in the flesh:

29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcising is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Here Jehuda is to be the one who praises. So a Jew praises the LORD God. Jehuda is known to be the one who praises.

So that is a Jew. One who praises & worships the LORD God from their heart.

Denying Jesus Christ the Son of God is denying the LORD God.

Well.

Ever seen "Fiddler on the Roof"? At one point, the main character says to G-d, "Why don't You choose someone else once in awhile?" Being "chosen" hasn't brought Jews much, in this world, except for persecution.

Jews aren't "chosen" because we're special. And chosen-ness doesn't imply that we're going to heaven and no one else is.

All "chosen-ness" means is that we were chosen to receive a particular covenant, and to OBSERVE that covenant, thus being a light to the nations. In fact, we believe that other nations were given this option first, but that they turned it down. We accepted.

Historically, we haven't done such a good job, though.

It's an article of the deepest faith with us that "the righteous of all nations have a place in the world to come." We don't try to convert people--and in fact, we try to discourage converts--because we believe that no one has to be Jewish to be part of the next world.

How can you say that the Jews are GOD's chosen people when they disobey HIS commandments on a daily basis? They have been disobedient since they left Egypt. Again read the Bible and see.

Until the Jews accept Jesus as their Savior-they will never be the chosen ones. Christians are GOD's chosen people.

Judaisim is NOT Gods chosen religion. And for that matter the Jews do not even recognise who their true God is and that is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ hates religion and he rebuked the Jews for their religion and adhereing to the Mosaic Laws. God came in the Flesh born of a woman to be their Saviour ( Emmanuel ) intepreted as God with us.

Read John chapter 10 of the New Testament and the book of Ephesians Chapter 2.If you died in your sin without accepting Jesu Christ forgiveness you assuredly will go to hell.Feel free to contact me if you want to know more.Thats the real truth.

Does it not ?

Tehilla V you choose this guy to represent Christ ....funny what you said would be true if he just merely died but the 500 or so people that saw him after death might disagree with you .

Ok but those were Jewish profits that spoke of a savior coming who would be mocked and put to death not roman magicians
