I can understand if someone ask a question that is aimed at atheists but other than that you don't believe in God so why are you here? No disrespectful answers

Looking for a fight online

Sure, some are here to learn, but the majority I've seen are aggressive, mocking, and condescending. That's not to say the religious folks can't be the same way, but there's no reason to butt in on a genuine question someone has about their religion and say that it's all made up. I'm not religious but I respect a person's right to be religious, as long as they aren't pushing it on me.

Debate needs two opposing viewpoints. Most folks see a debate rather than a question to be answered by those who have knowledge in that area. Putting people down for believing or not believing in something is the reason for all the animosity towards each other. Christians believe that it is their calling to herd people into their belief system, and Atheists are very vocal in not wanting to be challenged by Christians, or told they are going to hell. I wish Christians would understand that if they are going to preach about God, then they need to show LOVE, not the hatred they spew out when someone does not agree with their beliefs. Christians, for the most part have it SO wrong, that it drives others away. The ONLY thing that brings anyone to a new place is LOVE. When Christians start to see that, then maybe they can actually change the world. but, if all they can see is people's "sin", and point out their flaws, and threaten them with fear-based religious tomfoolery, then this will continue.

They are interested in Religion, they don't have to believe in god to want to ask a question about religion or to give an opinion. I'm sure an atheist has given you good advice at least once in your life time, it's wrong to say certain groups of people are not welcome.

Sure you get trolls but you get that with every section on this website.

Churches are welcome to everyone, not just Christians. A Religious section should be no different. Christians are free to debate in all sections on this website and atheists should be able to too.

I'm here because this is the Religion and Spirituality section. I'm irreligious, so I have an interest in the subject. As you said, nearly half the questions here are directed to atheists, how do you expect us to answer them if we are not here? There is no religious test by Y!A to be in this section, just as you don't have to be an actual politician to participate in the Politics section, or to be gay to answer or ask in the LGBT section. Your question is asked here often. I come here to answer questions and if I happen to educate someone in that process, IMHO that's a good thing.

A religious section is for inquire about religions as a whole, its elements, basis, characteristics and same existence and validity, atheistic outlooks inquire about all that.

Marginally to your direct question I feel compelled to point out that by trying to tax the kind of answers you want to be posted for your question you are incurring in a methodological failure. You are leaving exclusively for your own unknown subjective opinion and taste to judge what can be or not disrespectful, and then disrespectful to what or to who. That is too ample an order to be complimented. Are you aware that, exempli gratia, for muslims it is deadly disrespectful to paint and use images of god while for catholics is a common and laudable practice? With that ukase you are closing the doors for free enquire and free expression.

In my whole life I have never believed in religion or god, I do not know how I knew, it just all seemed like nursery rhymes to me. I am now 64 years old and have had religion poked at me every day. Luckily not to bad but it was their, and lucky not from my parents. Everything revolved around, hand on the book to prove one told the truth ( but they still lied anyway ) so now the intelligent people can speak out telling and push that god never never had anything to do with mans existence, and part of evolution. Religion robs man of the praise of how he struggled through the ice age battling the environments. Man and man alone got us to where we are today. Evolution was how it happened, it was never planned, no one could plan such a path, and how we evolve in the future no one can plan, evolution drives it, that hopefully the weak drift behind in the tides, leaving the strong to lead the way. Evolution can be seen in everything around us, we cannot hide from it, but a god, I do not know one person who said today or yesterday I seen their god, and god going his work. They would be laught at luckily for us all. It cannot be encouraged.

Actually, I am not at this point. This question is simply 'suggested' to me by Y!A.

For the record, religion is the topic, not the price of admission. Are you insinuating that your presence here is a requirement from your faith? For what purpose? Recruiting others, or smothering your own doubts? As I can see that the presence of atheists, with their most logical arguments, could negatively impact your performance in either of those endeavors...

"Im here because I actually believe in God, Im a Christian"

And that makes you special and gives you divine rights and privileges.

Why don't you go to a Christian bigot website where you belong?

" you don't believe in God so why are you here? No disrespectful answers"

Why are you allowed disrespectful questions?

You don't freaking want me here simply because I don't believe in gods, really? Bigot.

Because Atheists have views, opinions, answers and perspectives on religion & spirituality that they have as much right as anyone else to contribute & share on a public forum.

What makes you think that a free public forum on the internet needs to have some sort of exclusivity? Don't like it? Don't visit. Go visit www.iamtoodumbandprejudicedtoacceptdiverseopinions.com and try their forum instead.

“Theists, especially Christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views.

If all Christians stop crusading against science, education, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, stop dishonestly misrepresenting your beliefs as facts, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.”

‘Religious apologists complain bitterly that atheists and secularists are aggressive and hostile in their criticism of them. I always say: look, when you guys were in charge, you didn’t argue with us, you just burnt us at the stake. Now what we’re doing is, we’re presenting you with some arguments and some challenging questions, and you complain.’ A.C. Grayling

‘There once was a time when all people believed in God and the church ruled. This time was called the Dark Ages.’ Richard Lederer

It's a bit like why people who are poor, because they're too lazy to get job, run a key up the side of a Rolls Royce... you know... throw rocks at what they don't understand, and then lop back to their cave on their knuckles making grunting sounds... you know... like when dogs woof instead of actually bark.

But NOW... onto your question...

It's the same as... why do dogs lick their genitals?

Because they can.

One of my hobbies is to study the many and amazing effects that religion memes have on the minds they inhabit and control.

This place is a meme zoo.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you here?

For the same reason that there are people in the cats section. we either know something about this or the other religion or are influenced by it, as their followers do all they can to drag us back into the dark ages.
