Question:
Jehovah's Witnesses: Is there any real punishment for the wicked?

My understanding of Watchtower literature seems to suggest that someone like Hitler or Polpot, who is responsible for the termination of millions of human lives, does not receive any punishment from Jehovah except for simply NOT being resurrected. Where is any sense of JUSTICE in this view?

Does this mean that someone can do whatever they want in this life and the worst that can possibly happen is they die and just don't get resurrected again? That just doesn't seem fair. Do I have this concept wrong? Please explain.

I am not a JW. Your question has a couple of flaws. Hitler will be resurrected. Resurrection is what Jesus made possible and it is for the "just and unjust." He will be resurrected and he will be judged by God for both his deeds and what was in his heart. If God finds him to have done evil and there is evil in his heart, then he will be punished. The greatest punishment will be not getting to live with Heavenly Father for the rest of eternity. Imagine what that would b like for Hitler, to watch the 6 million people he killed receive greater rewards than he does for eternity. To realize that he blew his chance. WOW.

Greetings,

Hitler and Pol Pot have nothing on Adam. Adam purposely and with full knowledge rebelled against God causing the death and suffering of billions and billions of humans.

Yet God Himself stated what the punishment for sin was: "a return to dust" which is the definition of "death." God knows what justice is and perfectly reflects that in His judgment.

While as imperfect humans we might WANT people like Hitler, child molesters, and others to get a little torture, we are not motivated by true justice. This is apparent when we place ourselves as parents of a wicked individual like Hitler. As a loving parent would we want our child to be tortured for the rest of his life or just "put out of his misery" to protect others?

As imperfect humans we cannot properly balance true justice and love but must rely upon the clear explicit statements of Scripture.

Jehovah is the proper balance of love and justice, and He has explicitly stated the punishment for wicked humans: Death NOT torture.

Not being resurrected AT ALL and NOT being able to enjoy all the benefits of the REAL life that God has in store for us doesn't sound like punishment to you? Wow!

Anyway, we'll let Christ be the judge of that since Jehovah left authority into his hands!

I'll suggest you to read the first chapter of Romans starting in vs 18 through 31. Paul makes a pretty good list of what truly is a WICKED person. After that vs 32 says:

32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve DEATH, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (emphasis mine)

So what is it that Paul says under INSPIRATION? They deserve DEATH not ETERNAL TORMENT.

Is it JUSTICE on Jehovah's part to torment someone in eternity compared to only 80-100 years of a life span!?

Their deaths with no hope of a resurrection IS true justice. Whereas those who were their victims will have a resurrection with a possibility of an eternal future.

What seems fair to YOU is completely irrelevant. What is fair in God's viewpoint is what will be done.

From what I m reading here and talking to my sister, they use texts prepared by Jehovah s Witnesses to explain the Bible. That belief is based on the writer s knowledge.

It seems like we come up with our own views on how someone should be punished now a days...tormented in hell (etc) but we are just humans..we did not create this world..God did..so it is up to him what happens to people..Adolf Hitler will be judged by his actions on earth...Simple as that..everyone will be judged...There is no greater punishment than death..No one wants to die...it says in the bible that sin=death...Adolf Hitler was a bad person..no doubt..he will be punished...
