How is the bible accurate?

Sure, some of the places mentioned in the bible are real places, or did exist, but how does that support the incredible claims of the bible? In the book, "War of the Worlds" places like London and France or mentioned but Martians never attacked the Earth. Just because there are real places mentioned in the bible is in no way evidence of a god.

So how is a book that has talking snakes, a global flood and a man who could raise the dead taken as literal fact?

I mean if you think of it this way; people new about the gold rush of California and people from all over the world came to California to find gold. But if you hear about a God healing the sick, raising the dead, there is no documentation that anyone went to see him. What is up with that?

tell the story of noah's ark to an 8 year old retarded boy. and he's gonna ask questions. "this is a bad story." even if you're really good at telling stories. you sit him down, "once opon a time god was mad at all the people in the world, so instead of telling them what they were doing wrong about their diets, he decided to go ahead and drown everyone. he only told one regular man, he wasn't a special guy infact, he was 600 years old. anyway, god told noah to build a boat, and his family were the only ones to survive the flood. because appearently, all the other people that had boats, well their **** didn't work. anyway, god took 2 of each animal to come to noah on foot from all over the world. and they sailed for 40 days and 40 nights, and civiliziation began." 8 year old retarded boy will go "uh there's a lot of holes in that story. uh wait a minute. first of all, how big is this boat we're talking about here? millions of animals on the boat, and one guy that made it, how long does that take? where did he get all of the wood? 600 years old seems a little old to be taking on a project of this magnitude. all the animals come on foot, and the earth is 24,000 miles long? and what did the animals eat? cause i think the animals wanna eat all the other animals! i'm not that retarded! noah was a white guy, so where did all the black people come from? what exactly did they eat when they got off the boat?" even an 8 year old retarded boy knows that's bs.

There were various arguments against the history the Bible speaks of that were doubted, then resolved. Such doubts included various things like Pontius Pilate's existence, the age of the city of Jericho, the various places certain figures went to in their journeys, etc.

Really, I keep hearing that the Bible has no evidence of validity. But, who reads?

You're an idiot. Obviously because it's in a book, martians DID attack the Earth, that's all the evidence I need.

The flood of Noah started on November 1st, 2348BC and we still have a memorial called All Saints Day every year on that same date. Death is the result of Adam's fall and Jesus could raise Lazarus from death is the proof that death could be conquered.

"So how is a book that has talking snakes, a global flood and a man who could raise the dead taken as literal fact?"

The first two aren't to be taken as literal fact, and the third you either believe or you don't.

The snake is there as a foil to the story, because somebody or something had to tempt Eve if the writer was to carry his story forward, anbd make his point about human pride as being the origin (and ongoing source) of sin.

The flood story is there to underline the seriousness of sin and its metaphysical consequences.

Do you seek the truth or the acknowledgement of those who are as lost as you? I must ask because you seem to ask the same questions over and over again even after receiving correct answers. Here is my answer (again).

According to Christian Apologetics and Research Ministries (www.carm.org), New Testament documents are better preserved and more numerous than those of any other ancient writings. There are 5,686 Greek manuscripts in existence today for the New Testament, thousands more than for any other ancient text. Because the copies are so numerous, they can be cross checked for accuracy. This process has determined that the internal consistency of New Testament documents is about 99.5% textually pure. In addition there are over 19,000 copies in the Syriac, Latin, Coptic, and Aramaic languages. The total supporting New Testament manuscript base is over 24,000 manuscripts.

Do you realize the magnitude of the conspiracy that would have to have existed over the centuries in order to pass off an adulterated work as pure? People who promote this kind of nonsense are only able to do so because of our lack of knowledge about the Bible’s origins and our lack of faith in God’s word.

But really, it all boils down to this. If you believe the Bible and it turns out to be wrong, you can always tell God that you took Him at His word. And if there is no God , you won’t be any worse off for knowing that. You’ll only be as dead as when you found out. But those who don’t believe the Bible and find out too late that there is a God, will have to admit that they refused to take His word for things and will suffer an eternity that’s disagreeable beyond imagining. In short believers have nothing to lose by believing and may gain incredible blessings, and unbelievers have nothing to gain by not believing and may suffer incredible punishment. Who are the winners and who are the losers?

We know God is who He claims to be because He’s done what He said He would do. That’s the whole point of prophecy and why studying it is so important to us. It’s God authenticating Himself.

For 6000 years He’s been describing things before they happened, so when they did His people would know that He was telling us the truth. Everything He said would happen in the past has happened, so it makes sense to believe that everything He said would happen in the future will happen.

There are over 300 Old Testament prophecies, all of them a matter of public record hundreds of years before the fact, predicting the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. The abundance and specificity of these prophecies demolish any notion of chance, exceed the requirements of statistical analysis, and prove more conclusively than any other fact of history that Jesus is the Son of God. In fact there is more hard evidence to prove that He is Who He claims to be, than there is that you are who you claim to be.

This is the unique and truly beautiful thing about the Bible. It stands alone among the so-called Holy Writings of the world, in its self-validating ability. Only the Bible tells the future with 100% accuracy. God knew we would be skeptical, unbelieving children. So early on, He began telling us things in advance of their occurrence so when what He said came true, we would be willing to believe Him. In this way we can be assured that our faith is justified.

In fact in Isaiah 44:6-8 God challenged anyone who claimed to be like Him to a two part test.  Part 1 is to accurately recount the past and part two is to accurately proclaim the future. Only God, who knows the end from the beginning  can do this.

Anyone who will put aside their pre-conceived notions and undertake an unbiased study of Old Testament prophecy can prove God’s existence beyond a shadow of doubt within a few hours. As God had Isaiah write, “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.   I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.” (Isaiah 46:9-10)  No other so-called deity can make that claim.

When you study Bible Prophecy and World History side by side it doesn’t require much faith at all to believe the Bible. The evidence in fulfilled prophecy is just too overwhelming. But don’t take my word for this, try it for yourself. The truth converts emotion to logic, adds knowledge to zeal, and makes your faith unshakable. Someday soon that kind of faith might well come in handy.
