I also believe that we are living in a day where our society has begun, in many ways, to shun Christianity and find fault with the ideas and moral attributes that Christians possess. The Apostle Paul, inspired of the Holy Spirit, wrote about a future day when people would shut out the voice of truth, chase after myths, and create an atmosphere where Christians would find themselves suffering for the Lord(2 Timothy 4:3-5, New Living Translation). While this applied to the time of Timothy’s life and ministry I believe it describes where we are now in our culture and even more where we are heading in the near future. I would add that in this type of environment we should get a firm grasp on what the truth of the bible really is. Some of the confusion that the world has about Christians and Christianity stems from the fact that there are so many things from our secular culture as well as other religious cultures that have found their way into the church which has created a diluted belief system. Simply put: the world doesn’t know what to believe or receive of Christianity because, in many cases, Christians don’t know what real Christianity looks like.

I also agree that we should be able to respect those that do not agree with us and dialogue with them as equals. I think that the “Golden Rule” applies here. In any interpersonal communication we should remember: “…Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you” (Matthew 7:12, New Living Translation).

We are living in the times the Bible refers to as the "last days".

Grow a pair and face reality. We're not far from the trees we climbed down from.....we're all just apes flinging poo. YOU decide to your actions.

I think it's a steaming pile of manure conjured up by delusional thinking and beliefs - not to mention a blatant disregard (or lack of knowledge) of history. Furthermore, to quote your favorite book: "you reap what you sow" and Christianity has sown some VERY nasty seeds.

I agree with your description of the challenge, and with your suggested response.

In the early 80s, a small group of conservative Christians tried to convince everybody that Christianity and republicanism were pretty much the same....and that issues of abortion and homosexuality were more important than everything else. But it's just not true...Christians are found everywhere along the political spectrum, and lots of issues matter.... like poverty, for example. Conflating religion and politics carelessly drove a lot of people away from the faith. Obviously there is some overlap between the two spheres, but faith must always supercede politics.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that a big part of the reason that the Christian perspective is taken less seriously by our secular society is in many ways our own fault.

And I agree with you that getting 'back to basics' is a very good place to begin the process of reconciliation. Learn and practice the basics of your faith without complications or judgements. And treat other people the way you want to be treated. And of course, in all things seek to grow closer to God, to do His will, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Banana is right as wars, disease, earthquakes and other signs are all happening since 1914.

Satan knows his time is short and hates GOD and Mankind. There is much religious confusion !!!

HAVE you watched the news on television and wondered, ‘What is this world coming to?’ Tragic things happen so suddenly and unexpectedly that no human can predict what tomorrow will bring. (James 4:14) However, Jehovah knows what the future holds. (Isaiah 46:10) Long ago his Word, the Bible, foretold not only the bad things happening in our day but also the wonderful things that will occur in the near future.

Jesus Christ spoke about the Kingdom of God, which will bring an end to wickedness and make the earth a paradise. (Luke 4:43) People wanted to know when the Kingdom would come. In fact, Jesus’ disciples asked him: “What will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” (Matthew 24:3) In reply Jesus told them that only Jehovah God knew exactly when the end of this system of things would come. (Matthew 24:36) But Jesus did foretell things that would take place on earth just before the Kingdom would bring true peace and security to mankind. What he foretold is now taking place!

We are living in the times where every person can research information easily and determine the truth.

In the past, people could not read and books were not readily available. So they had to believe whatever their parents or the baron or the priest told them - they couldn't know any different.

If Christians think they are suffering, that is their interpretation. Rational people would call it education.

The truth of the Bible is very simple - tell people interesting stories that seem to explain things they don't understand, and they will believe all of it. There is no need to be accurate or logical as long as the masses follow.

Well, the masses can read, they can learn, they have rights now. Religion is not forced on them, they can learn the truth and choose for themselves.

Its a shame that theists can't see that some beliefs have an expiry date, and Christianity is past due.

Yes, people are more educated now and know where the Bible came from: ignorant men making guesses and weaving wild tales. Christianity is on its way out, good riddance.
