Please tell me where it is documented that Catholics worship the Pope. It must be documented somewhere on the internet that Catholics have to worship the Pope. Many of you make that claim. I know you would not lie, because it saids in the Bible not to lie, and you must have seen this documented somewhere for you to know this to be true.

If you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church you would see that idolatry of every kind is absolutely condemned by the Catholic Church, and idolatry is defined as "worship of anyone or anything other than the one true God".

l've been in catholic church homes when you consider that 1990 and in no way chanced on every physique worshiping the Pope The Virgin or any saint. So how did this nightmare get into your head? Your venture is vocabulary not easily information.

No. The Pope is not an object of worship, although certain Catholics might anyway. Christians in general worship God (under any "entity" they choose: the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost). In the Roman Catholic denomination, Saints are not exactly worshipped. They are venerated. Prayers may be addressed to them, in order to intercede for them to God. Mary (the mother of Jesus) is given a very special position and is worshipped as well as venerated (although some people might not agree with the last statement).

The pope is the representative of Jesus-Christ, and as such, is the supreme authority for the catholics. Confusion is often brought by people using words for others.

I hope I clear the situation to some extant for you.

"But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty..."

Sounds like worship to me. It is blasphemy of the highest degree!

This came from an encyclical from pope Leo XIII. If you don't trust Wikipedia, then look elsewhere for the same encyclical.

I don't think that they worship the pope, but they pray to saints & believe that the priest can forgive sins.

Looking forward to this. Watch them cite sources like chick.com.

EDIT: Val - no they don't. God forgives the sins through the priest.
