Christianity was in the forefront of killing and oppressing those who knew how nature worked and are still to this day are trying to pass legislation that would teach creationism in schools.Does anyone really want to have the bible teach biology other than the creationist.It's over 2,000years later and leaders of both religions still persist in spreading ancient beliefs that science have pr oven many of them wrong. Why do many theist spread the lie that most scientific discoveries were found by believers? The fact that some were religious has nothing to do with science.Those people just happened to be religious. Why are so many leaders obsessed with belief that anything that is not religious is religious?

Christianity is not neither is Islam they are just religions usually that determines how people live and since both these "religions" uphold very good principals ie not stealing, not killing, not being immoral so to be honest i do not think so I mean Islams gave the world numbers and Algebra while some of the most famous people known to mankind were Christians Christopher Columbus decided from reading biblical scripture that the world had to be round, Isaac Newton was a creationist, Abraham Lincoln was a Christian who had some of the greatest principals of the presidents of America, and me I am a Christian who is studying to be an engineer so to answer your question NO! religion does not hold back humanity in fact telling people that they were divinely created in the image of almighty God is much better than telling someone they are an animal. to answer your stupid question i think telling people that they are a creature made with a purpose would make people live better than telling them that it is OK for them to live immoral lives because we are just human do you actually realize the implications of that if man began acting like animals it would do worse damage to know that we are just animals than to think we are a dominant species and that we own this world and have the power to create wonderful items such as this computer from which i type (by the way which also was invented by a Christian)

No, the religions themselves do not hold back technological progress or the spread of human rights. PEOPLE historically have done those things, sometimes in the name of religion,but the religions themselves have not. I can't speak for Judaism or Islam as I'm neither Jewish nor Muslim; however, if the teachings of Christianity are followed, there is no reason to slow progress, nor is there a reason to deny anyone rights. I'll let the Jews and Muslims speak for themselves.
