Does this has anything to do with the fact that Jewish people are more intelligent than the average?

One of my favorite Sci-Fi writers, Harlan Ellison, calls himself an atheist Jew. I think that's because even if you don't believe in god/religion, a Jew is still Jewish.

Yes, there are huge numbers of Agnostic, Atheistic, or Communist Jews in the world. My aunt married into a family of them, so I've been exposed to quite a bit about how they see their "Jewishness" as their heritage and culture while not including the "God" part in their feelings.

They maintain that they don't need to have a cult to maintain a culture is due to the way that the group has maintained a cohesive culture that exists with or without the paranormal nonsense... The food, the traditions, the in-breeding...

For those that say that this is not possible, what is "Latin Culture"? Latin America is full of Spaniards, Germans, Africans, Native Americans, etc. and the ONLY thing that forms a cohesive "Culture" is that they maintain cultural traditions regardless of the diversity of the breeding population. Why would Jewish Culture be any different? They've been maintaining a series of traditions and values and foods and styles for thousands of years.

What I find hard to understand is the numbers of American Jews that hold extreme communist views knowing that if Communism took over, they'd be forced to give up their cult and culture.

►Jewish Atheism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_atheism

Jewish atheism refers to atheism as practiced by people who are ethnically, and to some extent culturally, Jewish. Because Jewishness encompasses ethnic as well as religious components, the term "Jewish atheism" does not necessarily imply a contradiction. Based on Jewish law's emphasis on matrilineal descent, even religiously conservative Orthodox Jewish authorities would accept an atheist born to a Jewish mother as fully Jewish.[1]

My Uncle and his family really opened my eyes to this concept.

The majority of every culture are less than devout.

Jews have managed to maintain a vibrant culture even in circumstances of being an opressed minority -- and therefore represent every type of humanity.

Atheism is a Christian preocupation which originates with its Greek antecedents.

Only those Jews raised with more Christian than Jewish culture believe they are Atheist.

Think about what you just said.

Judaism is a religion, which means if you're Jewish, you can't be agnostic or atheist.

And honestly intelligence doesn't matter as much as faith when you're choosing a religion.
