Does the concept of a God make sense to you?

In the past it was said the sun and other planets revolved around us.. that was proven wrong. Then it was thought that if they didn't revolve around us maybe we are the center of the universe and still the center of God's creation.. we aren't. In fact in evolution we are just another rung on the ladder. No better or worse than another species. Doesn't the concept of a God in the sense of watching humans and judging our morals for Heaven or Hell seem illogical to you with the vastness of the universe? In fact we are moving at (correct me if I'm wrong) 600 km/sec so for us to be the center of anything seems illogical. Other animals exhibit certain signs of human intelligence and with all things considered we aren't very special by comparison. Certainly not to the point of obtaining any God's special attention.

What about a God that makes the universe and that's it (like a deist)? A conscious being that acts as a catalyst for the universe and nothing more? Doesn't that sound like saying to make humans (conscious beings) you need another one? Wouldn't it make more sense to say something from a bottom up approach much like evolution (evolution is directionless but I mean simple life to more complex life progressively much as the same for the development of the universe). By this I mean saying something like a reaction expanded the universe or if there is a rule free zone out of the universe due to it being out of our rules of science then the universe simply made itself?

To me any option like that makes more sense than a God in a religious senses. Believing in a God making the universe and that's it makes a lot more sense than a God made the universe and sent some prophets down for a battle between heaven and hell to save souls (that sounds like a story made up for a geek's new book which parallels Lord of the Rings in a few respects). So to me atheism makes the most sense then being a deist but for any religions outside of that spectrum (hell neither of those things I mentioned are religions) what about a god makes sense to you conceptually?

The concept makes sense depending on how you think about it....I think about it as a completely made up concept that is not backed by anything proven.

Yeah it makes sense to me. Your thoughts are not very organized but I'll try to respond to the points you made. Cause you seem like a nice open minded kind of guy.

Firstly I don’t think that the idea of humans being the center of the world is logically related to the idea of god, although people who believe in god often believe that we are the center of the universe. Having said that we haven’t found any evidence of life on another planet and humans control all other animals so the idea is not far fetched by any means. I don’t think the location of the earth or weather is is moving is that significant. What ever they believed in the past.

Do you need a conscious being to make another conscious being? Yes I think you do, just not a human. You asked the question as though god should be human. That’s a bit sneaky.

Does a bottom up approach make more sense? No. I’m not sure why you think it does. I can design something that is simpler then me. I can design a machine that can make something that is simpler then the machine, the other way round is not possible, So no, absolutely not.

“evolution is directionless but I mean simple life to more complex life progressively much as the same for the development of the universe”

Btw that is not directionless. Although I assume you mean that its not evolving to a ‘higher’ form.

“What about a god makes sense to you conceptually?”

1. First cause

2. The idea that we have purpose

3. The idea that we were created for that purpose

Atheism is not logical. No one can prove the non-existence of anything, so to assert there is no god requires just as much faith in the idea as asserting there is one.

That does not mean the alternative is that there is a god that is some sort of super-human.

It also does not make sense to assert that evolution produces ever-more-complex beings. The direction of everything in the universe is towards entropy. Therefore a simple evolutionary process would produce beings that are ever more simple and less-energy-requiring.

There is more to life than what we can physically measure. There are forces acting upon all of the universe. But no one has come up with a satisfactory concept explaining the existence of everything and the true order of things.

WELL, OF COURSE LOGICALLY IT DOESN'T. I mean, seriously! Logically, the concept of GOD just doesn't make sense.

BUT, since there is something more than logic, something which is called faith, then GOD IS REAL. HE is 100% real. Who else could have created the whole universe and everything and everyone in it?

If computers can't just suddenly appear without having a creator, then the world and humans themselves couldn't have either.

The reason why some people don't believe in GOD is because they rely so much on scientific research and fact. I USED to be like that. But thankfully, in this lost world with lost people, GOD found me.

It doesn't take logic to believe in GOD, but it takes faith to believe in HIM.

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." - Hebrews 11:1

I just wish you all knew how awesome HE is once you really get to know HIM and create a relationship with HIM. HE's the best friend you could ever have! =D You probably think I'm crazy and I would too if I didn't understand it but, it's the truth.

"They will reject the truth and chase after myths." - 2 Timothy 4:4

not to our flesh but it does to our spirits - and thats the only way to experience God - spiritually

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
