What is the "Judgment seat of Christ"?

I haven't a clue, I've never heard the term before today. An answer to a previous question stated that, if I wanted to learn more about judgment and receive answers that are less focused on salvation, I should ask this.

So, now I ask. What exactly is the judgment seat of Christ? And how does it work?

Michael is referencing 2 Corinthians 5:10/ "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." This is only one quote out of a pervasive theme of degrees of reward in heaven. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 says: "No one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames". Paul shows us in these verses how some Christians will be resurrected with very little to show for the time they spent on earth--they "will be saved, but only as one escaping throught the flames." A very powerful image. On the other hand, people who build selflessly upon the foundation of Christ using "gold, silver and costly stones" will receive enduring rewards. While good deeds are part of our duty as Christians, not even the smallest act of kindness will go without its reward. Degrees of reward in eternity involve both greater responsibilities as well as greater spiritual capacities.

The church teaches that this judgment seat is where believers receive their rewards.



At the Judgment Seat of Christ, believers are rewarded based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5). The things we will likely be judged on are how well we obeyed the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), how victorious we were over sin (Romans 6:1-4), how well we controlled our tongue (James 3:1-9), etc. The Bible speaks of believers receiving crowns for different things based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5).



The church teaches that one judgment is for believers, and the other one is for unbelievers, thus leaving the unbelievers out of the judgment seat of Christ.



Do not confuse the Bema Seat with the Great White Throne judgment. Revelation 20:11-15 describe this judgment

Christ sits at the right hand of the Father and constantly makes intercession (prays) on our behalf. christians refer to the seat of Christ as the mercy seat. however, if mercy exists in the world than we know that judgment also exists. if there were no judgment, mercy would be irrelevant and there would be no right or wrong. well, there will be a day of judgment were Christ will discern (read) the hearts of men. if they have been washed clean and have a relationship with Him, they will spend eternity with Him. if not, they will spend eternity separate from Him. This is just judgment because if on earth you do not have a relationship with Him, how can you spend eternity with Him? It's even more than just for us because we fall short of His glory, His honor, but His mercies are new every morning. Peace and blessings. you're heart is hungry, and you have a great respect for the things you do not know.

I read in a yoga text that the 6th chakra or third eye is the seat of Christ. You have to enter through Him to reach the 7th (heaven)//

Thumb me down all you like, makes more sense to me than all your explanations. Finding your true self is not as easy as saying I believe it is there somewhere, and like Bob Marley said: preacherman don't tell me heaven is under the Earth/ It is while we are in this life we should seek.

If a person is doing wrong and If we tell them they are doing wrong we are not judging that person but we are judging that persons behavior, attitudes. It is true that there are certain forms of judgment that we should not make. Biblical correction is not Judging. Correcting or advising someone when they do wrong is not judgment, as the Bible says that we should correct, rebuke and be bold to those who are sinning in the wisdom of God.



If there were no judgment, All the prisons would be empty and all kinds of criminals with violence were on loose and would have posed serious threats to everybody’s life, and morals and Without judging we would never able to identify what is good, wrong, evil, immorality or bad and most of us would have chosen a wrongful path misinterpreting of the verse “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. Matthew 7:1. The evil and wicked people would use it to avoid being challenged in their wrong doing. If we don't warn someone in error to turn from evil ways , we are partly responsible.



These are the scriptures which will help us with judging, correcting others so that they may follow Godly path.
