Question:
Christians: Can you give me one of your favorite Psalms?

Or any non-Christians who study the Bible and may have a favorite. Just trying to spread some Love this morning :) ♥ Here is mine:

Psalm 134 - Greetings of Night Watchers

"Behold, bless the Lord, all servants of the Lord,
Who serve by night in the house of the Lord!
Lift up your hands to the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.
May the Lord bless you from Zion,
He who made heaven and earth."

I'm a night owl, and I find the night to be my best time for reflection and prayer, so this is a favorite of mine. Thanks all ♥

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]

2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,

and under his wings you will find refuge;

his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes

and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—

even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,

no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him

and show him my salvation."

Psalms 139 is my favorite. When I'm feeling down and don't feel I'm worth much, Psalms 139 reminds me how special I am, how much care God took in creating me, and how much He must love me to have done so much for me. :) It also says the number of thoughts God has for me alone would out number the grains of sand on the earth. How wonderful to be thought of so much! Saying that in a non conceited way, but a humbled way. When I'm feeling alone, when I feel no one cares and that I'm forgotten, Psalms 139 reminds me that God will find me, no matter where I am, and that He stays with me, even if I go to the ends of the earth and hide in the deepest forest, He knows where I am, and He is with me. :) I love that He can read my thoughts, that I don't have to fake it to love Him. He knows all I'm thinking, so instead, I talk to Him like He's my best friend, my older brother. This has helped me clean up my mind because it used to have a lot of trash in it. And also, this shows righteous anger. Some Christians believe it is never right to get angry. But there are times when it is appropriate, seeing a child abused, watching someone drive off drunk risking the lives of those on the road, seeing someone fraud people out of thousands of dollars in money. It is alright to be mad when the innocent are taken advantage of, especially when it drives you to take action, MADD wasn't made up because people were bored, it was made up because people were furious over the lives lost at the hands of drunk drivers. The children help line wasn't made up just to entertain children, it was invented because so many children fall victim to horrible circumstances, and this Psalms lets me know it's alright to stand up against injustices done to the innocent. And lastly, I love the way this Psalms ends, with showing us that we can go to God to ask Him how we can be better followers of Him. We can be open with Him about everything inside us, and we need not be afraid what He shows us in ourselves, because it's only done out of love to help us be better Christians. :)

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

I am not Christian but I love the 23rd Psalm, the one I learned as a child--especially about the valley of the shadow of death.

PSALM 23

The Lord is my Shepherd;

I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in

the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley

of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:

for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff

they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the

presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest

my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life: and I will dwell

in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 37 has been appropriate for me this week. Here are verses 1-4.

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Psalms 22....The Psalms that Jesus quoted while hanging on the cross. Psalms 22 was written 1000 years before the crucifiction of Christ and was prophesy about His crucifiction. While hanging on that cross,...even then Jesus taught.

Psalm 23; The Bible, King James Version

Too often it's read at funerals, but really it has more to do with wisdom on how to live life, than it does with funerals: I also recommend Phillip Killer's book "A Sherherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm --- It's really a classic.

I guess I'm not very original here, but my favorite is Psalm 23, as well. I recite it to myself whenever I'm feeling stressed, it has helped me to stay calm behind the wheel, stay out of silly arguments, helped me to keep my patience with my grandchildren...I could go on and on....

1 Have mercy on me, O God,

according to your unfailing love;

according to your great compassion

blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash away all my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is always before me.

4 Against you, you only, have I sinned

and done what is evil in your sight,

so that you are proved right when you speak

and justified when you judge.

5 Surely I was sinful at birth,

sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;

you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;

wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8 Let me hear joy and gladness;

let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

9 Hide your face from my sins

and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me from your presence

or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation

and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,

and sinners will turn back to you.

14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God,

the God who saves me,

and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

15 O Lord, open my lips,

and my mouth will declare your praise.

16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;

you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

17 The sacrifices of God are [c] a broken spirit;

a broken and contrite heart,

O God, you will not despise.

18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper;

build up the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices,

whole burnt offerings to delight you;

then bulls will be offered on your altar.

I love the Psalm you posted. Here is one of my favorites.

Psalm 73

1Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

2But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

3For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

5They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

7Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

10Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

14For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

16When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

17Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

18Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

19How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

20As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

21Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

22So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

23Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

24Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

27For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.

28But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

My favorite one is Psalms 139 the whole thing. It starts off saying thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thoughts afar off.. Jesus knows all about me and I find comfort in that. Please read the whole chapter.
