Question:
Is it wrong of me to bash christianity?
?

Since most christians have never actually read the text upon which they say that they stand, and would not recognize the Messiah if He stood in front of them, do you believe it fair of me to spend my free time bashing christianity until they wake up and see the deception, and their leaders' lies? Is that love and kindness?

It's love, because you know the harmful effects would devastate them.

It's kind, because they don't know any better.

Well, if you don't follow a belief system that says it's wrong to bash those with whom you disagree, then it's not wrong. I would consider it to be wrong if I, as a Christian, did it, but that's because I follow a different set of rules. However, until you come up with some credible citations for your claims of "most christians have never actually read the text" and of "deception" and "lies," then maybe you're not being loving or kind.

What is right and wrong? What you really need to be asking yourself, and not the Yahoo community is why you feel compelled to denigrate Christianity. What are you hoping to accomplish?

You are not going to "wake up" anyone. You don't want a conversation, or you would go to a church and denigrate Christians to their face. And I assure you that any church you go to, you will find someone willing to talk to you. But you need to be capable of listening. How much of the bible have you read? Tell them how wrong they are, and have the chapter and verse to back it up.

All you will find on internet forums are two kinds of people. (except me) Other willfully ignorant anti-theists, and equally ignorant Christians that as you state, have never even cracked open the book they are supposed to believe in. But you should really be aware of why it bothers you so much that others believe and worship the way they want to.

I hear all too often about how evangelicals piss people off with their proselytizing. But all you have to do is say "no thanks, I don't want to hear it" Jehovah's Witnesses don't come to my house anymore because I'll talk all day about how wrong they really are. I think I made some kind of list. But that takes a backbone. It's a lot easier to spread the vitriolic gospel of atheism from the comfort of your own home/coffee shop/Wi-Fi hotspot.

Hope this helps. And just to be clear, I'm neither Christian, nor atheist. I think for myself. And you know what? I have read the bible. That's how I came to the conclusion that I was not a Christian in the first place. Peace out!

There are always going to be people that believe what they believe, regardless of what you and I or anyone else have to say. Some have faith while the house is crumbling down around them., some others are more open minded. Just to give you my take....As a young person I was very involved in the Church but as time went on i found it harder to keep the faith. I was taught that God was almighty, could do anything, working his miracles all over the place, then when Haiti was by hit by the tsunami and then Japan and then the midwest here, there are many, many people dying all over the place and losing everything. On top of all that I was watching a program about the Holocaust ( One of the worse things ever done in the history of man) and one of the survivors asked , what I consider a VERY GOOD question....Where was God when all those people were SCREAMING for his help ?. To my way of thinking if God is all powerful and able to do anything then he either didn't want to help or he couldn't help So you have to think maybe God doesn't even exist. With my upbringing, not an easy thing to do ( I was never ever forced to go to church0 but if you have an open mind Gods existence becomes more difficult to believe. Someone once made what I consider a good quote" If Man Didn't Have a God He would find reason to invent One" I believe that means a strong belief in something to make people to be good.. Kind of like Santa clause for Adults. To answer your question I don't think what you're doing , bashing Christianity is going to change them at all, I used to manage a store and there was this one delivery man who always told me I was going to go to hell because i didn't go to church. Then one time he finally got on my nerves, and I asked him if he had ever had a drinking problem, and he said YES. That's when I asked him fi that was when he became a Religious Fanatic. He never bothered me again., but usually it's not a good idea to argue about religion ! Most people myself included are afraid to not believe. There's an old saying that goes like this......." In a fox hole everybody believes in God " If you don't know what a fox hole is it's a hole men hide in during wartime when they are being shelled, not a real good experience,LOTS of fear ! I hoped I helped. Just wanted to add one more thing, even if a person chooses to not believe in God , you still have to believe WHAT A MARVELOUS PERSON JESUS must have been for us to remember his teachings two Thousand years later !

Those are some extremely broad generalizations. Just saying, there are plenty of Christians who read their Bibles, there are plenty of solid Christian leaders (Ravi Zacharias, John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, etc.) who are not liars and deceivers, and there are plenty of Christians who are not blind followers.

As a Christian, I read my Bible often. I know the teachings of my Savior Jesus Christ and I can distinguish true teaching from false teaching. Please do not take a minority of Christians and make them out to be the majority, because they are not.

The great apostle Paul was not unlike you. He viewed Christians in much the same way you do. However, God stopped him in his tracks and basically said, "Isn't it hard for you to resist me?"

Instead of bashing Christianity, you should investigate it to see if it not only explains reality but corresponds to it as well. The Bible accounts of Jesus have never been disproved by science, history, or archaeology.

God offers free salvation and eternal life with Him in heaven. All of us have done wrong, and this makes us unworthy of being in His presence. In His great love and mercy, He sent his Son Jesus to earth in human form. Jesus lived a perfect life, performed many miracles, fulfilled all of the prophecies about the Messiah, and was therefore qualified to pay the penalty for our sins. Throughout His life, Jesus repeatedly asserted that He would rise from the dead. After He gave Himself up to His enemies to die for us, He rose again on the third day just as He said to prove He was God. The apostle Paul said, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

Jesus Himself declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).

But we will be held accountable for things like this. Even if you do not believe this, why do you attack others, in belief or otherwise?

I want you to know Jesus so you can have a better life and a more deeper love then you have ever known in you. I want the best life for you that you can have and it is by knowing Jesus.

Why do you bash me? I tell you of Jesus in love, why do you bash me?

bless you.

To parody the heroics of falsely heroic people should be seen as a courageous and heroic act on your part. Pray continue to spread the truth.

Nothing is wrong to bash- unless it is your boss. ;) All things must be able to stand up to criticism- if it cant it is most likely a dictator or tyrant.

There really isn't a problem with analyzing something using logic. People who do it are a repressed minority.

since 85% of the planet believe in some god or other, it might pay to be more diplomatic

It is wrong of you to bash any religion. Let people believe what they want to believe in peace. Don't YOU want to believe whatever you believe in peace?
