HELP!! I told my parents i dont believe in god and i am regretting it!!?

So my parents have all-ways tough me to go to church an believe in god, Its just all-ways been hard for me to believe. So one day I told my mom that I didn't believe. I get lexers every day, I don't get Christmas, (i was gonna get a new phone and Samsung tablet too) Tim hates me and calls me disgusting (Tim is moms BF) and worse of all they are going to tell my grandma who is sick with cancer and my papal who is religious and hates gays. yes that is how bible bound he is! Also Tim has 8 siblings and all of them will find out and they are very bible bound Catholics and i don't want all that humiliation. My mother is ashamed and cry's about it a lot. What should i do? I need help in what I should say to make them believe I believe, Or should i stay to not believing? Help please

Don't ever give up your beliefs or dignity. They have no right to treat you differently or be ashamed. Atheists are freethinkers and nothing should take that freedom away from you. Some people are extremely ignorant and will try to drag you down to their level. Religious people do this alot, especially if it's family. Sheeple don't like it when someone leaves the herd.



If you have to lie about your beliefs for your family's respect, then their respect isn't worth it.

Well, you can tell them that if they don't accept you for who you are, then they don't accept you at all. Can't say it will work, but it's the only honest thing.



How old are you? Do you live with them still? Well, you may have to keep living by their rules for now, but they eventually will need to face the reality that you simply don't believe the same things that they do.



I had to face that with my own mother when I was in my late thirties. I didn't live at home, but I basically said to her, "you should be very proud of the person that I have become, rather than lament the fact that I don't believe what you do." Fortunately, it went over well in my case.
