Question:
I pray to God for guidance and truth. But most places it leads me, it's against mainstream Christianity. Why?
2008-01-10 22:48:53 UTC
I've never believed in eternal hell torture. I believe that God is love and God is forgiving, even after death. I don't believe God has anything to gain from torturing me. Some Christians believe the same; most don't.

I don't know if God has instilled this belief in me because God wants me to know the truth and not be like the way the bible portrayed the Pharisees as hypocrits who represented the majority. Everything tells me saying God is love and saying God's allows eternal torture is against God's will and nature. But I also don't know whether I just don't have enough faith in God's true plan, which includes eternal hell torture.

I speak to different Christian denominations and they give me contradictory statements. I read the bible and find contradictory statements. The one thing that I feel is certain, even after praying, is that God loves all humanity (not just those who follow him) and that love doesn't end once we die.

I'm very confused and don't know what to do.

After read your question I realized that we have the same doubts and thoughts...I dont know if this is good or bad hehe but well at least you´re not alone on this trip in search of truth.

Well in my case I believe what my heart says and is as you wrote: Love...if God is Love well is love and I have to make an effort to be like Him.

Dont worry on the rules of the game (if your christian, jew, induist, etc) just focus on the goal: be Love be a nice person always search for trhuth always see in others people life, miracles, a persons who deserved to be loved.

I think is stupid to try to have the Complete Truth beacuse we´re humans! Even God is ALL why can we believe that only one person know Him well? or a religion? Isnt God in your heart? Isnt God in you thoughts? Isnt truth that God creates you just the way you are?

Well then dont worry...just play your game: be the best person you can be (and this doesn menas being perfect) and serach Him with all your heart in ALL places, and as HE says in the bible: "even the stupids will find me if the search me with all their heart"

So dont worry and just keep looking! You´re on the right way! :)

And if you want to knew him a little bit more visit this site: http://en.i-miracle.org is a blog in which persons all around the world share miracles that happened to them...you cant meet him since this new perspective...as a Father with a lot of love to his sons.

Here is your answer......

"Because strait is the gate, and NARROW is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT."

Matthew 7:14

If you want to do God's will He promises that you will know what is truth. (Matthew 7:17; John 16:13,14)

You are SO RIGHT about God being a God of love and not allowing eternal torture!! Check these out for yourself.....

God is NOT willing that ANY should perish. 2 Peter 3:9

(that does not mean no one will perish, just that He does not

want that)

Sinners will ultimately be burned up or turned to ashes.

Mal.4:1-3 If you are turned to ashes....you are not still burning.

The wicked SHALL NOT BE. Ps. 37:10 Now, how could they "not be" if they were still burning?

The wicked shall perish. Ps. 37:20.

The punishMENT will be everlasting. Matt. 25:46 It does not say that the punishING will be everlasting. It is a single punishment whose effect lasts forever.

Sodom and Gomorrah are examples of everlasting punishment and eternal fire. Jude 7. They are NOT still burning but are underneath a portion of the Dead Sea today.

The EFFECTS of their punishment is EVERLASTING.

The fire cannot be quenched or put out until it completes its work of totally eradicating sin from the universe. Matt.3:11,12

Jerusalem was destroyed by and UNQUENCHABLE FIRE which human hands could not put out. It completed its work of totally destroying Jerusalem...BUT....Jerusalem is not still burning today. Jer. 17:19-27

A slave shall serve his master "forever"...or as long as he lives. Ex.21:6

Satan himself will be consumed to ASHES. Ezek.28:17,18

The fire will burn itself out and there will not even be a coal to warm at. Isa. 47:14.

The wicked shall be as they had not been. Ob. 16

God is NOT the author of confusion.....He WILL guide you into

all truth if you desire to serve Him. 1 Cor.14:33

Joeyz, a lot of fear-mongering in many of these answers.

I'm going to go along with some of the others. Trust your instincts. Don't allow people to tell you that you need to "repent" or that you must believe in hell. It sounds to me as though you are finding your own truths. I say keep following your own path. If that leads you away from this idea of a "God of Justice" and hellfire and damnation, and towards a loving gentle god, then that is your truth. If a certain belief doesn't ring true for you, then why force yourself to believe it?

Perhaps you don't believe in the Christian god? Have considered other religions or even simply believing without a particular doctrine?

Hi ... there are many issues I can comment on here but the basic is that you are placing your trust in man and not in God. Also forget about the losers who dont have a clue about spiritual issues, including covering and warefare.

There are some basic rules about living in God's spiritual and physical houses:

Firstly ignore man and go before God with repetence and ask Him to guide you.

Secondly, attend a '5-fold' ministry church where you will always receive proper spiritual covering and growth according to God's Word.

Thirdly, if you are not filled/baptised in the Holy Spirit - what do you expect? Get this done urgently because you have no spiritual protection or guidence and are therefore fair game for Satan and his many deceptions.

Dont ever give up on God - He wont ever give up on you!

There is no Godly plan for hell for His children that have chosen to be obedient to His ways! Once you have truly given your life to Jesus - thats it! Thereafter, its a growth path, should you choose, all the way but with lots of exams along that way!

You may also want to google/research 'soul ties' generational curses' and Christian 'spiritual covering'

There are no 'perfect' churches but generally 5-fold ministry churches are properly word based where you can get the truth. Remember: listen to, and obey, the Holy Spirit and not man.

All of these benefits - just because of honest repentence in your heart (spirit) and because you asked! Thats all it takes.

God is love. He is everything good and he wants only the best for us. He loves us so much... and you are right to think this way...the torture or hell that you speak of is for a very few...it is for those that have seen Him yet deny his existence. Or those who have committed the unpardonable sins. Such as murder. The hell that you speak of will not be a torture he places upon us it is the torture we place upon ourselves of knowing that we could have had all that he has and be all that he is and having chosen the wrong path it will be eternal misery and torment to have this knowledge and to have to spend eternity with those who have chosen the same path. check out this site for more insight.

First off there are no contradictions in the bible that have not long since been resolved, you just need to catch up on your History.

Read D. James Kennedy - What if the Bible had Never Been Written.

Also dig up a Basic Theology by Charles C. Ryrie and then get yourself a Ryrie Study Bible. The man was a professor at Dallas Seminary - and blessedly he's very good at breaking things down so those of us who may not be so smart can understand what Theology is all about!!

Because any answer from God is going to go against mainstream Christianity. What passes for Christianity today deviated from the truth many centuries ago. Anyone reading the Bible and then going into a mainstream 'Christian' church would not recognise the message preached. None of the main doctrines of the mainstream churches are taught in the Bible.

Trinity -- Jesus said "The Father is greater then I am"

immortal soul -- The Bible says " The soul that is sinning, it itself shall die

Hellfire/eternal torment -- The Bible says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all.

and so on.

In most cases, mainstream Christianity is SENSIBLE, fair, and tolerant Christianity. And the mean-spirited extremists are almost all found immersed in fundamentalism.

Does God allow human souls to be tortured for all eternity in hell. I seriously doubt that a God who would stand up for the rights of slaves (albeit minimally), in Ex. 21:20-25 would go to such an extreme. I think that ultimately, God gives **everyone** a clear chance to avoid hell, and that in the end, hell's only occumants will be Satan and the demons who followed him. (I.e., fallen angels.)

God is contradictory because man had different ideas about how to create him. If you believe that a god exists that loves all humanity--believers or not--, then at least you believe in a moral god
2008-01-10 23:04:03 UTC
You have prayed and undoubtedly you meant it, because God is giving you guidance and truth by enlightening you that maybe there's just a tad bit wrong in Christianity today! By the way, the word "hell" literally means "grave" (Heb. sheol), and most certainly is God loving! He has created man in His own image, but it is for us to decide what is right and what is wrong. May peace be with you.
2008-01-10 23:00:49 UTC
If God loved people there wouldn't be millions starving etc.

Very simple.

No God to fear.

No dogma.

A life more moral than that of Christians.(statistically proved)

Subject to the rule of law by consensus of democracy not the autocratic law of a god.

Death is not to fear nor rejoice. Its just like fading into a deep, untroubled sleep.

Be happy. Treat people justly.

Hi. That's a very good question, and one that many people have trouble with.

Regarding the question of hell (or eternal torture) you have to consider that God is also Justice. What would you think of someone who spent their entire life sacrficing and working hard for the betterment of his/her life and the lives of those around them and of another person who lived selfishly and hurt others for his/her own gain? Would they receive the same reward?

And regarding contradictory Christian denominations: Christ only created ONE church, that has still lasted till today. All others have broken away and taught their own teachings. Perhaps, finding that ONE church might give you the answers you need.

Peace, God bless. ^_^

Perhaps Christianity is not for you. Everyone is different, and what everyone needs from a religion is different. You said that you believe in a loving God? Well there are plenty of other religions that worship a loving god. I could name a few... but I would not want to affect your choice with what I believe to be right. Follow your heart. It will lead you true.
2008-01-10 23:52:51 UTC
God has given us the freedom of choice. Every living soul has been given the opportunity of choosing death or life. The word of God is preached in every country and in every language in this vast planet called earth. Yes there is good and there is bad. Do you believe that God would allow a person that praises him to go to hell? or a person that serves Satan to go to heaven? There is a choice we must make in our temporary domain, remember we are just passing through this life to minister and lead others to Christ. Yes he loves us all, sinner or saved. This is the testing ground he has placed all of humanity, this is where we will make the decision to serve Christ or Satan. There is light and there is darkness and those that choose obedience to Christ will live everlasting with him. Those that choose to rebel against him will suffer in everlasting seperation from him in the place called hell.

Now do we choose to Love God or love Satan?

I don't know if I could love the adversary, some people do and I believe these are the ones that will suffer eternal hell torment (not torture). I choose to love God. Remember that Satan and his army will wage war against the earth in Rev 16:14 it tells us that " they are spirits of devils performing signs". So how can these souls love Christ. They have been given every opportunity to accept Christ and serve him. This does not mean that we need to hate them, we must pray for them. We were in bondage at one time also. We chose to accept Christ and serve him and it is up to them to make their choice either accept Christ or deny him, what's your choice? "For he gave us not the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

God loves everybody but sin has corrupted us. God doesn't put us in hell, we ourselves do. God feels pain as one person goes to hell. Thats why he gave is son Jesus. We do not deserve to go to heaven because it is our fault, not God's. When you say it is against God's nature to torture, that is true but it is not God thats torturing us, its the devil.

You are one of the ones who know that God is love. You are rightly led in that you see Gods’ love for us all. It does not matter what race or religion we are. Nor does country or culture matter he loves us all.

There is a common hidden teaching that is at the core of the Torah, Bible and Quran (not to mention the Bhagavad Gita).

In the Bible it is stated this way.

“Love your God with all your heart and soul.”

Said another way but is pretty much the same thing is….

“Love your neighbor as you love yourself”

These are the words of the Christ that came through Jesus.

This is the entire teaching, all else is just commentary.

What has happened with some who profess Christianity is that they have made a religion of Jesus instead of about what he taught.

Time and time again he taught not to judge yet so many profess that if you do not understand the Bible as they do or if you practice a different religion that has sprung up around another one of Gods Holy Books other then the New Testament then you are damned to eternal torment by God.

The God that I worship is a loving God. Now, obviously things happen in this world that can make us uncomfortable. Some say it is a result of God giving us test and then punishing us if we fail.

It has been revealed to me in quite a different way.

My beloved child, we are but drops in the infinite ocean of Gods light and love. Like the drop in the ocean has qualities of the ocean, but the drop does not contain the ocean. The ocean contains the drop. When Jesus said I am in the father and the father is in me, he claimed that we are joint heirs with him and children of God, accordingly, you are in the father and the father is in you.

The common link is the light of Christ, which is the light that lights every man that comes into the world. You and every man has that indwelling light. The light of reality or the “Radiance” that surrounds you is a system of loving guidance to lead you to realize the indwelling Christ that is even in you now! God lovingly guides us to the state of consciousness where we can reveal the ultimate good or the Kingdom.

John Lennon said it this way. “ I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.”

All of the Holy books say something to the effect that we should love our brothers as we love ourselves. Why? Because we are one with all people.

Jesus said that when you do something nice for the least of people you are actually doing it to him. So when you see a homeless person and feed him you are feeding Christ, because that light of Christ lives within all people. This is what the Christ taught through Jesus.

Here is a story that may help…

One day a seeker was pondering the things of God. Wishing to find the deeper meaning of his scripture he went to a beautiful park. It was by a beautiful river. The weather was beautiful. A perfect day! As he sat basking in the warmth of the sun he noticed he was surrounded by all sorts of different people. Black, White, Asian, Indian, Arabic, male and female. He took note that there were many people of different religious backgrounds, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Muslims and others he did not recognize. The children played together and did not notice the outward differences that they each shared. They played with each other joyfully as it did not matter how each was dressed or the color of their skin.

Suddenly it hit him. All of the people shared the same sunny day. The birds sang for all, the sweet fragrance of the flowers was shared by all, the beauty of the blooms was seen by all, the laughter of the children filled his ears and he knew..... Gods love was shinning on all around him to be experienced equally. It was then that he knew the deeper teachings. To be founded in Christ is to begin to love all others the way God loves all others, just like he showed his love to all that day in the park.

This is the beginning of our growth in Christ when we love all, and serve all, just as God does. Then you begin to reveal the indwelling spirit of God, the Christ.

Let those that seek to divide us by exploiting differences wallow in their muck. I beseech you to follow the path you already see. Look for all the good that you share with all of your brothers regardless of their race, religion or culture. When you are able to do this the Kingdom will begin to reveal its self to you.

This is the path to Heaven. Not only after you die but right here on earth. You do not get life everlasting when you die, you are living life ever lasting right now! Make the most of the present moment.

Let your light of love shine for all to see! The very light of Christ!

Love all, serve all.

Blessings and peace to all,

All in all,

i think of which you're on the wonderful way. i've got everyday many people who had visions like yours, and who ended up as Muslims. in case you suspect that Jesus isn't God, then you definitely are in easy terms a step a procedures from Islam! shop praying to God to lead you. seek for Muslim acquaintances of your age, particularly converts, and that i advise authentic existence acquaintances, no longer digital ones! talk your ideals and thoughts with them. you would be greatly surprised to verify that they have got comparable memories like yours! many people have been raised to thought in Jesus as "the savior" "Son of God", etc, so it is no longer that easy to alter those notions. you have already broke the main mandatory barrier: via believing that he's no longer God. what's left is extremely little. examine out it this way: in case you have various babies, and all of them, different than one, make enormous errors that make you further and extra offended with them, and extra happy with that one that's in comparison to them. you sense an urge to punish them, yet on a similar time, you choose to forgive them. What could you do? could you kill that "sinless" son so as which you forgive them? Is that incredibly logical? Or could you tell that good son to tutor his brother to act the wonderful way? The Prophet's functionality is to tutor others the thank you to worship God and the thank you to advance into stored and forgiveness. It does no longer help via any skill to sacrifice the existence of each individual with the intention to forgive. God isn't a blood-thirsty being who can not forgive different than via killing. God is All-Merciful. He teaches us the thank you to return to him many situations even with our errors. i know how perplexing your situation is, yet i could decide directly to remind you that the darkest moments of the nighttime are those till now daybreak. you're very on the component to seeing the sunshine. shop your believe in God, shop praying, shop getting to know, and confirm that he will instruction manual you. I think of the Bible as being Channeled information. The people who wrote the Bible were inspired by God, however, like in any Channeled information, the personality and bias of "the messenger" is not pure information. It must be taken with a grain of salt and researched with a critical eye.

Like you, I searched sincerely for God, the God as defined by the Bible as Love. And in searching I found a Truth I can believe in. From my heart in asking for guidance, I was led by God to a different Path that was not even Christian. I struggled with this, but through prayer and what I had with a PERSONAL relationship with God I found what I was looking for - God as Love. And a religion with people who do not preach the ideals of Christ, but live them. And many of them may not be Christian or profess to be of any religion.

"By their fruits you shall know them."

I had to make a choice. Would I listen to what mortal men say is the truth and nature of God, or would I listen to what I knew in my heart to be true of God? The choice comes down to following and listening to Man or God?

By choosing God's Voice, I am criticized and attacked. I have been disowned. I have been slandered. And my eyes were opened to the true nature of the religion of Christianity, which does not follow Christ nor God but proclaim in self-righteousness judgment upon others without any evidence of love, promoting fear, and living lives of hypocrisy.

I had found a faith and a religion that has sustained me through the rest of my life, in both good times and bad. And I have experienced the spiritual in mystical ways that are undeniable to me and those who are with me to witness them. It is a life of joy and of love, and it transcends any profession of religion.

I think it is best to listen to the God of your heart and follow that Voice to the right Path for you. Everything created by God is unique and different - so there is no one way. If you believe there is only One God you would understand this truth. There is no wrong Path, for all are God's Path.

"above all else to thine own self be true."

The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit will write the Law of Love (of God) upon our hearts. The written law is there to be a distraction to the ones who cannot hear the Spirit within. Listen to your heart, to the Spirit within, and you cannot go wrong. It is within us that God dwells. Embrace that and you will find God and God's love.

Good luck, no matter where the journey takes you. For it isn't the Path that is important, but the Journey itself that matters. It is our actions more than words that define us.

When the Bible states that the road to salvation is narrow, and the road to destruction (hell) is wide, take that in consideration of how wide and how many masses of people follow the "one road." I think the narrow Path to salvation, to God, is only wide enough for a single person, each individual who truly hears the Voice of God. He makes the Path wide enough for only one person - you. So no one Path is better or more right than another.

It is harder to be an individual than it is to be part of the herd. Once you find yourself separate from the herd mentality of the masses and the mainstream, the scriptures that speak of persecution make sense. Christ was a rebel, and one who spoke out against tradition and the written Jewish law. He was killed for his rebellion of his religion. Christians speak of his worship, but do not follow his example nor understand his message.

Think about it and then make your own decision.

Unless you repent (change your mind) and accept the plain testimony of Jesus Christ things never will make sense:

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Just not once, you will have to scratch bible many times and interpret it differently to fit a lot of current beliefs of christian world.

A true christian will only be a true chrisitian and saved if he looks at words of Jesus only (completly ignoring what historians say that contradict with words of Jesus.)

Not all that is there in bible is word of God. Bible contains words of historians, scribes, translators, literature, short stories, sermons, and letters, and many true words have lost their original meaning and context.

Bible was originally in today's dead languages (armaic/ hebrew), with first bible written centuries after Jesus by people who never met him.

The trinity is a false doctrine from about the year 325 AD, based partly on pagan, older triune gods.

It is not in the bible unless you really, really stretch it to fit.

Muslims believe in the message of Jesus the massaya (peace be upon him) who said:

Jesus said:

A) Mark 12:29:

"the Lord our God, the lord is One"

B) Metthew: 26:39:

"He went a little farther and fell on His face and prayed"

Jesus prayed to one God

C) Matthew 4:10

"You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve"

D) john 14:28 reads--

" You heard that I said to you,I am going away and i am coming back to you. If you loved me , you would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father,BECAUSE THE FATHER IS GREATER THAN I AM"

E) Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

John 8:54

F) But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Mark 13:32

G) Most truly I say to you, the son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative but only what he beholds the father doing.

John 5:19

H) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Matthew 19:17

I) Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me

John 7:16

J) Hosea 11:9 God tell us, "For I am God and not a man."

Deuteronomy 6:4, as well as in Isaiah 44:6, where God tells us, "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." When Isaiah tells us that God said, "I am the first," it means that God has no father. When Isaiah tells us that God said, "I am the last," it means that God has no literal son. And when Isaiah tells us that God said, "Besides me there is no God"

Trinity was invented by Paul, an evolved concept in christianity, 200-300 years after Jesus, and that's how it confused and divided the concept that Jesus preached. Word "son" was used in bible for general human beings and other prophets also. "we all are the children of father in heavens" indicates that word "son" was used in different meaning.

Mathew: 5:9. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.”

The belief that Jesus died for our sins and now actions do not have to fall in line with our faith, is not what Jesus preached clearly. It contradicts with interpretations and additions done by scribes/ historians centuries after Jesus:

Matt 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness (your uprightness and your right standing with God) is more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

There is no guranteed heaven for anyone, this life is a test, whether you pass and enter heaven or fail,.

Ex 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.

Matt 3:2 And saying, Repent (think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Romans 1:25 (New International Version)

Deuteronomy 24:26, "Every man shall be put to death for his own sin

James 2:26: "As the body without spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead"

Jesus, Moses, Mohammad (p.b.u.h), they all worshiped the same God, the God of Ibrahim. All prophets taught "surrendering one's will to God" that is the meaning of word "Islam". In any book of bible you will not find word "christianity", but you will find Jesus teachings to be "surrender your will to God" many times.

JAMES 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Mohammad (peace be upon him) was also a messenger of God, who never claimed to be God, the same way Jesus or Moses never claimed to be God, nor did they ever say worship me.

Quran sura 5

When Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O Jesus son of Mary! Did you say unto men: Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah? " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All Knower of all that is hidden and unseen.

"Quran 4:48 and 116

"Verily Allah will not forgive the joining of partners with Him, but He may forgive (sins) less than that for whomsoever He wishes"
