Question:
What proof and evidence is there that atheism is true?
2011-06-13 07:57:45 UTC
a·the·ism/ˈāTHēˌizəm/
Noun: The theory or belief that God does not exist

I did a Google search for "define atheism".
1st result.

Prove this theory and belief.

These are the positive claims which you hold that cause you to have disbelief:
"There is no God", "God does not exist"

PROVE IT!

They don't have any proof because they can't prove a negative, so God exists!

You forgot a part of Shocks question

"What proof and evidence is there that atheism is true and correct"

Also knows as the big question shockofgod or shock for short asked and on what pretty much 150 valid videos showed up on youtube telling Rich, yes he is called Rich that his question and methodology was wrong and why.

Indeed this is nonsense question! Atheism only says that a person has no belief in any god. That doesn't means that are saying it is impossible.. just that they don't. And it is up to the believer to come up with proof and evidence of their god.

And to be fair that always fails, gods are after all super natural right.. SUPER natural.. aka not part of nature. Evidence is a part of nature....

There is no way anybody shows evidence for the existence of something like a god. Because how do you define a god to begin with! Does a god has taste... smell, does a god has color? Before you ask others to disproof something you need to proof it! To proof it you need to first even be able to define it!

Science says nothing about gods.. because that are metaphysical concepts. Even if they exist in Meta so to say they don't exist in the Physical.

If a god would exist in the physical it could be measured and predicted upon.

So the question is wrong! Just like Mr Rich is kinda bullheaded about it.. he denies the answers given. But the world see, points and laughs!

Actually, there is no such thing as atheism. Atheism is a belief system as much a not collecting stamps is a hobby. Goes to prove even the internet can be wrong -- but then, that is usually a theist concept of atheists. Atheists have NO belief in a God, not a belief no god exists. There's a big difference.

Well, there is more evidence by god's abscene that a god doesn't exist than there is evidence god does by god's presence. That seems pretty simple enough and straightforward.

Prove to me that the Flying Spaghetti Monster does not exist and I will use your method.

Atheism is a lack of belief in god or gods, not the rejection of belief in god or gods. The latter is only applicable in the case of explicit atheism.

For the one who is making the positive assertion (i.e. the theists), the onus of proof is then on them, not the ones who do not accept the positive assertion of grounds of lack of evidence. By saying "there is no god", I am saying it with the same certainty in disbelief as I do to unicorns and leprechauns.

Atheism is the lack of belief in gods. You know just like how people don't believe in gnomes and pixies, they also frequently do not believe in gods. You can't prove there are no mermaids or leprechauns either. That does not mean there is any rational reason to believe they exist. Until you can produce evidence for a god, it is safe to say that none exist.

Can you prove I don't collect stamps as a hobby?

By the way, it actually isn't a positive claim. It's a response to a positive claim ("god exists").

And congrats, you've just committed a popular logical fallacy, Argument or Appeal to Ignorance. An appeal to ignorance is an argument for or against a proposition on the basis of a lack of evidence against or for it. If there is positive evidence for the conclusion, then of course we have other reasons for accepting it, but a lack of evidence by itself is no evidence.

"If I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense."

it would be my opinion that in this use theory is used as the common form rather than the scientific form. either way i have seen no evidence to prove god in both passive and active searches

lastly i would like to point out beliefs dont have to be true

I'll start by proving that your God does not exist, enough for you?

Your God said: “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. (Luke 17:6)

Well, I suppose you have faith bigger than a mustard seed. So, please say that a mulberry tree be uprooted and planted in the sea. Document your miracle and send it to me. If you could do it, then your God is real, but if you couldn't, then your God doesn't exist. Fair enough?

Atheism is a lack of belief, key word "lack"

It can't be true, as it isn't an idea or a belief, just like it can't be untrue. There is evidence that proves evolution and the existence of evolution supports atheism, key word "supports"

Since you spelled atheism correctly unlike most of your peers, i'll let you off with this question.

Proof: In two thousand years of asking, not one single evangelical has ever produced a god for us to question or examine.

I don't have to prove that you didn't win the lottery. The simple fact that you never cashed in the lottery ticket is all the evidence I need.

1. The bible says God will appear if you ask.

2. I asked

3. He didn't appear

Therefore "God" doesn't exist

Saying "There is no God" is not a positive claim, I'm claiming that the claim "there is a God" is false, hence negative.

Belief in magical fairies is too childish for adults to take seriously. There is no need to disprove Cinderella's fairy godmother and every other magical fairy that some people desperately hope exists.

Yeah, but you don;t just believe one thing - you believe thousands of things. If God exists fine -but why the hymn singing? Why the tedious long winded old book?

The Holy Bible proves beyond a shadow of doubt that the Christian God does not exist. I assume that was the God you were referring to and not the tens of thousands of other gods and goddesses.

Non-existence leaves no evidence. Therefore, its impossible to prove there's no invisible pink unicorn in my garage.

So there must be, according to your logic.

Proof of evidence, not proof and evidence since those two words are mutally exclusive.

The proof of evidence lies within Christianity.

Nice try, but it didn't work out the way you hoped. Please prove that unicorns do not exist and you'll see why this doesn't work.
