Atheists, what is your opinion of Ayn Rand?

I've read all of her non-fiction works. Ayn Rand is what morons think a philosopher is. Even though she never wrote any philosophy, and during her life refused to engage in philosophic work. All her arguments employ logical fallacies.



It's not surprising that Paul Ryan likes her. Because Paul Ryan is what stupid people think smart people sound like.



And, as a novelist, Ayn Rand is a horrible writer. I think Christopher Hitchens called her writing "transcendently awful."



She was just a preacher.



And, she wasn't even original or radical. The same ideas she espoused were from a school of ancient Chinese philosophy called Yangism. Though, I don't think she ever read any philosophy, so I doubt she was aware those ideas already existed.

Ayn Rand is a social Darwinian -survival of the fittest, selfishness is good, etc. There's more than that, but she is not a deep thinker. I haven't seen an anthology of philosopher's works that include her - apparently real philosophers don't think much of her.

Without Ayn Rand there would be no Bioshock series, and that would be a terrible thing. Also a good litmus test - anyone who takes Rand seriously could be either a teenager or an asshole. I hear her books make good doorstops.

I read one of her books in high school, that would be about 40 years ago. It seems to me she was a crazy *****, and I respect that, but her philosophies were the kind they print on bumper stickers, nothing deep. Shallow moron stuff like Deepok Chopra, except reactionary.

As a theist my opinion of Ayn Rand is that her utterly atheistic philosophy got the West into financial melt-down. Her principles were enthusiastically taken up by America for decades, but now we have pay-back time! She was NOT a Christian. Some Christians may have been lured into idolatry by her but she and her principles are in diametric opposition to biblical and Christian principles. Even USA Presidents were deceived (by not being told the whole truth of what was going on, by Rand’s disciples.)



Her nasty, selfish and greedy principles have resulted in increasing world poverty. I suggest you look at the documentary link below to get an objective grasp of what’s REALLY going on in the Temples of Mammon today, where millions of poverty-stricken people are being ‘sacrificed’ daily at its altar - oh, 'atheists'... never mind....
