I think the soul is self enlightened. Its nature is to BE only, and not to work or function and produce any command. It is like a blossomed rose, Its being is complete. To control anything is not the nature of soul.

Not completely by our self. We are to by constant practice try to control our mind to think of God then He does the rest. The main part is always think of God and He is the ultimate controller. Those who think they can control the mind on their own are fooling themselves and not surrendered souls. Arjuna in the Gita tell lord Krishna.
