God uses the foolish things of this World to confound the so called wise. Perhaps judging someone as the village idiot is putting the judge in the position of village idiot so they can get answers too.

It is not that they are the village idiot, it is just the way some people view that person. When God speaks to you it may seem foolish to an unbeliever or a person with no understanding, but that is OK, because God's word is true and will never turn to any one void.
