Athiests does it bother you?

Question

I am an agnostic atheist. I am not for or against religion, but i do find it to be very interesting. My problem is that alot of atheist organizations are starting to use the same tactics as fundamentalist churches. Its the same arguing with pointing fingers and everyone knows it's not going to end. Alot of the card carrying atheists like to call people who believe in gods, or intelligent design idiots. Well okay so they have been conditioned to believe in something based on no proof. Science has obvious proof based on observations but my point is doesn't it bother you that there are atheists out there being hostile and using the same tactics as fundamentalists?

Shouldn't we just turn the other cheek and say, okay we understand what you're saying but we dont agree sorry. Maybe ignore them like you would a dog begging for food scraps. I know we want out basic rights protected but does it have to be so arrogant and foolish like the fundamentalists?

Militant atheism is on the rise in direct proportion to the growth of fundamentalism. I suppose there needs to be an equal but opposite faction of people who are anti-religion to those who are anti-everything else.

It bothers me more that some people let the fundamentalists write the agenda based on a 2000 year old book.



Look at global warming. Fundamentalists have obscured what is scientifically a quite clear issue, resulting in us being too slow to react. The effects will now last longer and be worse than if it had been tacked when the scientist said it should have been.



Look at intelligent design. To call this science is laughable to anyone who understands what science really is, but because stone-age goat herders did not know about evolution a whole lot of time and effort gets wasted keeping this tripe out of the education system.





Ignoring these fundamentalists is not like ignoring the dog begging for food. This is like ignoring the rabid dog that wants to rip your throat out.

There's nothing wrong with stating an opinion. And it isn't atheists who are trying to do all the converting, or telling people how to live or what to do. I don't think you can come up with any concrete examples of these organisations either. Earlier on today, I was walking through the city centre, I saw three different blokes with bibles and paraphernalia either handing out leaflets or preaching. I don't see atheists doing that. Christians come to my door to tell me about God and religion. I don't see atheists doing that.

It used to bother me a little. But I think that the fundamentalists, both Christian and Muslim, have gone way too far in their insanity. I think it is about time sane, rational people start doing whatever they can, to relieve these lunatics of their positions of influence. And I do mean by whatever means necessary.



Almost the entire planet is in danger from millions of grown up adults with imaginary friends. If if was not so incredibly dangerous it would be hysterically funny.

You can be ANY religion and if you were my friend, that would not come between our friendship. I feel others have the right to choose what they believe in, worship, etc. Does not make them any less human. There is no right or wrong choice in what your religious beliefs are. Tolerance and respect in this day and age is hard to find but it does exist. I do not force MY religion on ANYONE for they should not force theirs on me. When I talk to others of different religions, it is because I want to find out more, for I hope they have the same courtesy for mine.

I don't like being compared to a dog beggin for food scraps. That is rude rude rude analogy. I agree with atheists turning the other cheek. They can be so arrogant. Also, science has it's flaws. It is not fool proof. They are always trying to make it better. Look at the medicine that was supposed to help arthiritis patients. Some of them are dead. The scientists still say it is safe. It is not black and white when it comes to science.
