Ok so wasn't the OT enough?

Why did the NT come in?

Wouldn't the OT be more closer to the truth than the NT if they are different to one another? (which is what i heard).

No stupid remarks plz. I am dead-set & want to know.

Answer: The Old Testament lays the foundation for the teachings and events found in the New Testament. The Bible is a progressive revelation. If you skip the first half of any good book and try to finish it, you will have a hard time understanding the characters, the plot, and the ending. In the same way, the New Testament is only completely understood when it is seen as a fulfillment of the events, characters, laws, sacrificial system, covenants, and promises of the Old Testament.

If we only had the New Testament, we would come to the gospels and not know why the Jews were looking for a Messiah (a Savior King). Without the Old Testament, we would not understand why this Messiah was coming (see Isaiah 53), and we would not have been able to identify Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah through the many detailed prophecies that were given concerning Him, e.g., His birth place (Micah 5:2); His manner of death (Psalm 22, especially vv. 1,7-8, 14-18; Psalm 69:21, etc.), His resurrection (Psalm 16:10), and many more details of His ministry (Isaiah 52:19f.; 9:2, etc.). See more atthe website I have provided below.

The Old Testament contains the "Laws" of God. The New Testament was written after Jesus Christ came to earth and the New Testament holds Jesus' teachings and "simplified" laws. The New Testament also contains the gospels and scripture of the Apostles (such as Paul). It also contains the instructions for God's people how to prepare for Jesus Christ's return in the book of Revelation.

The Old Testament is not "closer" to the truth. If anything, the New Testament is. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. So, you heard wrong. Doesn't matter. If you took the time to read the New Testament, you would find some fascinating reading.

There are no stupid remarks in this answer. What YOU are is dead lazy, dude. You could've looked up all this info yourself on the Internet. Or better yet, read it for yourself in the Bible!

No

Why did the NT come in?

To tell about God in flesh form.who came to die on the cross and provide salvation to all who call on Jesus to save them.

No they are both the truth

No, the OT was not enough. In the OT God promised He would send the Messiah, so the OT had to be fulfilled. God made a promise and He can't break them. The NT came in because everyone is a sinner and God wanted everyone to have the opportunity to be saved, not just His Chosen people. In the OT, also, there were so many rules that had to be followed but could not be kept. Why, you might ask? He did this so people would realize their need for Him. As the Creator, He is worthy of much praise, but many neglect Him. In the NT, He emphasizes wanting a relationship with us and the ability for ALL people to go to heaven.

Hope that helped.

The Old Testament is full of laws given by YWYH (Hebrew name for "GOD"). They show how He wants us to live our lives to best serve Him. There are more than just the ten commandments. There are are a total of 613 total commandments in the OT. They all teach us how to serve Him in the way that He wants and what He knows is best for us. The NT tells of the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus is not a Hebrew name, look it up). It also tells of how He died for us so that we might know forgiveness. The NT also tells of things to come. This is very important. Read Revelations. Yeshua is coming back and you should be ready. Revelations tells of things that will happen before He comes back. Prepare yourself.

The OT is written in type and shadow of Jesus Christ's first coming, and the NT shows that he fulfilled all the prophecy found in the OT, plus describes his second coming.

The New Testament Chronicles Jesus as well as things that have to do with the new order of things, the old the laws of the pharisees and the way things used to be. I think your question should be the other way around, why do we have an old testament if there is a new one? Most of the crap that goes on from religion stems from the old testament when Jesus clearly states he is starting a "new institution" and "The only two laws are love your neighbor and love god". If people got off their high horse and stopped thinking they themselves are God, then perhaps this world would be a better place, certainly more peaceful.

The OT is a preview of the Messiah, the NT is the actual show.

Because of the birth of Christianity. The New Testament is a collection of Gospels by the Apostles, that became the foundation of Christianity.

Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the New Testament. The Old Testament, or covenant was dissolved and the new covenant in Christ was given to us for our salvation.

Because the God of the OT was a prick. Jesus is pretty cool though (even though I'm atheist.)

The New Testament completes the Old Testament. In order to understand exactly how, you'd need to read them both in context with each other.

I realize this sounds crazy, but if you're dead set on knowing why don't you read them and see for yourself instead of just going by what "they" say?

Because it contradicted many beliefs of the people of that era. So they decided that to get people to believe, they had to scare the **** outta them with the revelations
