I've come to an understanding that regular, run-of-the-mill Christians believe in "salvation through faith" by simply "asking Jesus to come into their hearts." Southern Baptists (on the other hand, and for example) believe that, in addition, one must be baptised by being dunked under water.
Now, here's the premise ... say you have a guy who professes to have accepted the Christian god (because we're not talking about the other gods at the moment), whether or not he gets baptised in water ... for all accounts and purposes, the guy is "saved."
Now, suppose that guy eventually starts drinking, and whoring, and raping, and stealing, and ends up in jail, or dead, or whatever.
SOME WOULD SAY HE IS STILL "SAVED" ... just that he "fell off the wagon."
OTHERS WOULD SAY THAT HE WAS "NEVER SAVED" IN THE FIRST PLACE AND MUST HAVE BEEN "FRONTING" ... because if he was truly "saved" he never would have committed all those bad deeds.
WHICH IS IT?
