It's not just "god works in mysterious ways." Without reading the rest of the answers, I'm predicting that there will be lots of "Loving parents discipline their children when they don't obey" answers, as if loving parents keep torture chambers in the basement, and claim that the child chose to be tortured by not cleaning his room fast enough.

Yeah - I don't really believe that Hell exists as we are given to understand it. After all, how could anybody enjoy Heaven if they knew their loved ones were suffering for all eternity. I'm a Catholic and have a complete belief in God, but I reckon that the Bible is open to interpretation - each one of us gets our own meaning from it. After all, how else could Limbo have existed and then suddenly not exist because it was renounced by the Pope? And don't even get me started on the whole no meat on Fridays/meat on Fridays debacle!

It's hard to imagine what an afterlife would be like when we're walking around and living our lives in the only way we've ever known and everything here on earth seems so normal and real, but if we do have an everlasting life awaiting us after we die, then I doubt it's going to be a pointless one spent suffering damnation.

Scott,My dad is a pastor and i could probably answer your question...God gave us the Bible and he warned us and in the Bible it gives instructions that we must follow and people that don't believe in him or people like murders or somewhere in that category he gives everyone on this earth instructions he loved us enough that he died on the cross for us and he does love the people that he sends to Hell but. people that know they are doing wrong he can't just let them enter into the gates of Heaven...We have to follow the instructions and,Because he loved us enough that he could die for us then he would like 2 see us follow his instructions. But it is hard for him,but it would't be fair to u if u were a sinner and he sent the other sinner to heaven and u didn't get 2 go that would't be fair, but what i mean by sin means:To continually do omething that you know is wrong:Thats y u must live a repented life and what I meant by instructions is.

1.You must live a repented life

2.You must be born again which means Baptised in Jesus name

3.After that u have a promise and that promise is u will get the Holy Ghost.

4.U must continue 2 live a repented life

And alot of things that people are confused about is what name 2 be baptised in and here is where u automatically know.

Pastors now days baptise in the name of the Father,The son and the Holy Ghost. And thats not the right stuff,

here is the questions.

1.Who is the Father?JESUS

Who is the Son? JESUS

They are the same the Father,Son and Holy ghost is three in one therefore there is only one God and his name is Jesus Christ.

Actually that saying "God works in mysterious ways" is not really

true. God is not the author of confusion, as that signifies the presence

of Satan, not God (Babylon=confusion).

The answer to your question is that God is not sending anyone,

nor has he already sent anyone to a big pit where they burn and scream as they fry like bacon forever and ever; it simply is not written.

Unfortunately, people do not understand when they read idioms, or

figures of speech so commonly used in both the Hebrew and the Greek. Paul, who authored most of the New Testament, spoke "street Greek", so he used lots and lots of idioms.

Anyway, this is the deal in a nutshell:

When the true Christ returns, he ushers in a 1000-yr period of teaching and disipline. Many of those who are told they are going to hell are

actually headed for the classroom. Not even Satan himself is in

any kind of hell, he is standing at the throne of God accusing Gods

people day and night, which is why one of his many, many names is

"the accuser".

When Christ returns, people will be TAUGHT NOT BURNED. All,

regardless of whether you are "bad" or "good", ALL will be changed

back into spiritual bodies. Some will find that even though they are

in a spiritual body, they still have a soul that is mortal (liable to die).

These folks will be taught, and it will be a very serious teaching time

because their very lives depend on it. This is not a second chance,

but only that God realizes there is a myriad of reasons why many

cannot find real truth in the flesh. God has no desire to destroy anyone.

After that teaching period expires, comes the Great Judgement. Those

who do not make it and are still found guilty, will follow Satan and

his cronies into what is called the "Lake of Fire". This is not "fire"

as we understand fire; the spiritual body is not affected by fire as

we know it. This "Lake" has the ability to destroy both the spiritual

body and the soul. It will only take as long as it does to step into it and be turned to ashes from within; even the memory of you will be

gone, as if you never existed at all - you will literally be "blotted out"

of existance.

Then, after all who go there are destroyed, even that Lake of Fire itself is done away with. Then, the earth is rejuvinated and we go into the

eternity where there will be NOTHING LEFT THAT OFFENDS, and

that means nothing, naida, zip, zero.

No flaming pit where bad old uncle Henry burns and screams as he

melts.....what kind of a God are they painting out there anyway?

EITHER YOU MAKE IT OR YOU ARE DESTROYED, PERIOD.

Think about this for a moment:

Here we are, happy to have made it and rejoicing etc etc .....and

as we rejoice, we have people in a pit begging and screaming, burning

and pleading for help...help...please...give me one more chance....

burn...singe...burn...melting flesh....horror.......

WOW, ISN''T THE ETERNITY WONDERFUL? Hell no, that would

be horrible. THANK GOD IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY.

Either you make it or ya don't, period. That is the Word of the

Living God.

That is an excellent question: And you are right according to 1 John 4: 8 God is Love. Hell is not a place that you go and burn forever, hell is the common grave of mankind.

So when you die you you are unconscious, you know nothing at all. Ecclesiastes 9:5

As a matter of fact Jehovah God is so loving that those who have died, according to John 5:28,29 have a hope of a resurrection.

So no, the Almighty God Jehovah does not send people to hell! It would be unthinkable for him to do that.

God loves you, but only if you do EXACTLY AS HE SAYS!

God doesn't want to send you to Hell, but he's a petty angry tyrant with a short temper, and if you piss him off, he just can't help himself.

God is punishing you like a parent punishes a child. When your child misbehaves, you don't give him a temporary punishment so that he can learn from his mistakes. You cut off his arms and legs and lock him in the basement for the rest of his life so that his every waking moment was filled with physical and psychological torment. That's the only way he's going to change.

entice human beings to connect him in hell. via the way, hell isn't a place of eternal torment yet a time of cleansing the earth of evil. study 2 Peter 3. i think of that's very loving of God to be engaged on a plan of saving as many as available via the grace of Christ and then while He returns in easy terms people who're set on being evil will dissipate and then the fireplace is going out. - particularly merciful incredibly because of the fact evil can not bypass on constantly and it won't. you could evaluate that lifelike would not you?

God loves you. The only way you will go to hell is when you do not love God back by not obeying his commandments and sinning. If you loved your brother and found out he does not love you back you feel very bad. Same with GOD. Not loving GOD back breaks his heart.

first of all he is not irrational..he is god,and he do love us,the same way a parent loves their child,be it animals or humans..

god gives us knowledge of heaven and hell,we know that if we do something wrong we will go to hell, and if we are good we go to heaven..

in every single religious book we are taught about the meaning of good and evil..yet we question it..

if any of my kids do something wrong I will call the cops for them, and I love my kids to death..but I teach them right from wrong.. and if for some reason they choose to be naughty I will call the cops on them, better me than someone else..it is the same concept of god and loving us..he loves us so much,he teaches us,and show us the right ways, also show us the wrong ways, and let us make a choice what we wants to do..thats why life is like a scale we get our deeds weighed

when we die the same way a parent would weigh what we do and punish us,it is the same with god he do not have a choice we gave it to him..in return for the free will that he has given to us..he has to punish us for the wrong things that we do..because he give us a choice..and we made the wrong one..

Christian religion is a belief system - even if it is 2000 + years old - god ,the universe - pick a name - for this life force - can be completely connected with, in the natural love and light of peoples hearts without any kind of literature under the sun - in a moment of clarity listen to your own spirit's inner voice!

Let me ask you a question: Do you honestly believe that all those tyrants who killed millions will never be held responsible for their crimes? Do you honestly believe that child abusers and drug dealers and those who oppress the poor, and all the others who bring misery and death to our world, will never be held responsible for their crimes? I hope not.

And would it shock you to discover that no one in the Bible spoke more about judgment and Hell than Jesus? I suspect it would—and yet it's true. He warned that someday God will say to all those who have ignored His laws, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41). God is holy and just, and someday all the evils and injustices of this world will be judged.

But this isn't the whole story! God also is kind and merciful and loving (as you say), and He yearns for us to know Him and be with Him in heaven forever. That is why He sent His only Son into the world. Jesus Christ came for one reason: to save us from our sins. He did this by taking upon Himself the judgment and punishment we deserve.

The Bible says, "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Don't turn your back on Christ, but by faith open your heart to Him and trust Him alone for your salvation.

God is your concept to be in person i think. it is all powerful and absolute. which works with so many forces. there is law of nature and law of Karma (action). there is no Heaven or hell but only state of illusion for inner being what ever suffering you have during your life span is process of repaying or teaching you a lesson. once you leave your body you remain in heavenly state of mind till next birth. so now you know there is no hell out side this world. s

Think about this. If the idea of roasting people in fire had never come into God’s heart, does it seem reasonable that he created a fiery hell for those who do not serve him? The Bible says, “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) Would a loving God really torment people forever? Would you do so? Knowing of God’s love should move us to turn to his Word to find out just what hell is. Who go there, and for how long?

the first answer IS partially correct, the concept of hell wasn't used by the church until the dark ages, they used it to keep people in line. For over the first 1000 years of Christianity Hell and the devil were rarely if ever mentioned.

God Most High, Christ Jesus loves me in redirecting my life from a great sinner to a great achiever of what His will in my life. Lord Jesus Christ do not want me to be in hell that's why He open up my eyes when i humbly surrender to His Kingship to my life, submitting to His Holy Will, to believe, trust, obey and follow Him where ever He wants me to go. Amen.

Romans 8:28 is the very verse that can help you understand how Lord Jesus Christ works in a mysterious ways.

Becuase you don't believe in Christ Jesus, the One True Living God;

then; Joh 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

Joh 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

What is the alternative? If you welcome the Hitlers and the Stalins of the world into heaven, how it would it be any different than the world of today?

Sometimes "love" has to be tough. Such as when a family has to "exile" someone who is a molester or an abuser for the protection of the rest of the family. Or it means that someone has to be locked away for the rest of their lives because of their actions and their danger to others.

If God is to prevent the suffering of this world being repeated in the next, then he has to exclude those who cause it by refusing to follow him.

The first thing we must realize is that we are each sinners, each guilty before a Holy and Just God. God must judge us of our sins and, OUR SINS against God will send us to hell. If God were to allow one sin to go unpunished, he would not be a just judge. What judge let’s guilty people go free ? He Cannot DO That ! He must be true to his Holy nature. God is perfectly just to judge us of our sins, of which each of us are guilty. We deserve the death penalty for sin, which is eternal torment and suffering in the Lake Of Fire. But God with his unmeasured Mercy provided for us a way out: His wonderful gift of eternal salvation through the shedding of blood by his only begotten Son Jesus. It's a free gift if you are willing to accept it.

If you have a small child, one who doesn't understand... and they do or say something bad, do you turn your back on them forever? Do you wish them an eternity of pain and suffering?

Clearly not.

So, if we are all really god's children, surely we're not expected to ever reach his level of wisdom and understanding... so how can we be held accountable for an eternity we can't even concieve?

Think of Hell as a personal choice.

God does not want anyone to go there. He loves and cares for us all and wants ALL of us to have eternal life in Heaven. But for those who simply will not accept God's love, who will not sacrifice their immediate gratification for a greater good.... then what can be done?

They have willfully chosen eternal separation from God. That's what hell is, the eternal separation from God.

I don't think like that..

God loves every person, including you and me..

But He gave you choice, free will, you can listen to Him and believe in Him and you will be prizewinning for it.. You must accept Jesus like your Savior!

But if you choose not to believe in Him, there is no place for you in Heaven because there are going the true believers!

Well say someone is a really good person and they go to heaven, would it be fair for a bad person to go to heaven as well?

If God said "I love you all too much- go to heaven" then everyone would just be bad cos they're gonna go to heaven so God gives people consequences - it's logic.

Mothers love their children but they get yelled at because the mother is giving them the consequence.

hope i cleared things up.

People that tell you that God loves everyone are liars.

The Bible never says that.

It says that when someone doesn't get saved, they go to Hell.

Right after being told, "Depart from me ye worker of iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU".

If He never knew you, He could not love you.

The idea of a loving God sending people to hell for eternity is not easy to accept. Why would God, who is full of mercy and grace, send people to a place of torment for ever and ever for not trusting in Jesus even though they are nice people, or never heard of Jesus, or were sincerely trying to find God? Is that fair? Is that right?

When people ask these questions, they are appealing to what they perceive as fairness. They are looking at the issue from their human perspective. But this perspective is not necessarily the right one. If God exists, and He does, then it is He who is the One who says what is right and fair, not us. So, we need to see what the Bible says about what is right regarding sin and salvation and make a decision afterwards.

The Bible tells us that God is holy, "You shall be holy, for I am holy," (1 Pet. 1:16). Holiness is incorruptibility, perfection, purity, and the inability to sin, all of which which are possessed by God alone. Holiness is the very nature of God's character. His character is perfect, without flaw, and He is the standard of all that is right and good.

The Bible also says that God is infinite , "Great is our Lord, and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite," (Psalm 147:5). If God's understanding is infinite, then God is infinite in nature.

The Bible tells us that God is love. "And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him," (1 John 4:16). God cares about us and seeks our well being and security. His thoughts about us are infinite and His love is too. This is why God does not desire that anyone go to hell, but that all come to repentance (2 Pet. 3:9).

The Bible tells us that God is righteous. "God is a righteous judge," (Psalm 7:9). His righteousness is part of His character just as are mercy and love. Righteousness deals with justice and justice deals with the Law. This means that God will always do that which is right and He does so according to the righteous Law that He has set forth. God cannot do anything wrong. God must do that which is right, otherwise He would not be righteous.

Jesus said that "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks," (Matt. 12:34). So too with God. He speaks out of the abundance of His heart. God spoke the universe into existence, "Let their be light," (Gen. 1:3) and He also spoke forth the Law (Exodus 20 - the Ten Commandments, etc.). Therefore, the Law of God, is a reflection of God's character, because it comes out of what He is, holy, perfect, righteous, and good. Therefore, the Law is a standard of perfection. It is perfect and if we do not keep it perfectly, then we have offended the God who gave it; after all, it is a reflection of His character. To break God's Law is to offend (sin against) God. Since it is law, there is punishment because there is no Law that is a law without a punishment. This means that when we break the Law of God, we fall under the judgment of the Law of God. Since He is infinite, our offense against Him is takes on an infinite quality because we have offended an infinitely holy and righteous God.

Must God punish?

Yes, God must punish those who break His law because it is the right thing to do. Just as a parent should punish a child for doing something wrong (intentionally), so God must punish those who do wrong. You see, if God did not punish the person who does wrong, then He would be unjust and unrighteous. He would be breaking His own law -- which He cannot do. But, someone might say that the punishment of a parent on a child is temporary whereas God's punishment is eternal. Why the difference? The answer is two fold. First, God is infinite and a parent is not. Second, God is the standard of all righteousness and the parent is not.

Because God is infinite, when we sin, we are offending an infinite God. This is incredibly significant. The reason sin is so bad is not so much because of the one committing the sin, but because of the One who is offended. In other words, sin is so incredibly bad because it takes on a horrible quality by the very fact of who it is against: an infinitely pure, holy, and righteous God.

A parent is not the standard of righteousness. God is. A parent is (or should be) using the righteous standard of God in raising children. Therefore, though a parent's punishment is temporary because it is instruction and correction, the punishment of God is eternal because our sin is against an eternal God. There is a big difference.

Can we please God on our own?

Is it possible to earn one's place before God by what we do (being good, etc.)? Is it possible for a finite being to please an infinite one? If so, then that means a sinner who has offended an infinite God, is able please God by his efforts. But, if he is a sinner, then aren't those "good" things he does also touched by sin since they are motivated out of the heart of a sinner? Yes. This is what the Bible declares since it says that our hearts are deceitful and not to be trusted (Jer. 17:9; Mark 7:21-23).

But then someone might say that if the person is sincere when he does the good works, then that should be acceptable to God. But, saying it should be acceptable doesn't mean it is. Remember, according to the Bible we cannot trust our own hearts (Jer. 17:9). This means that we cannot even trust our own sincerity.

God is the judge, not us. If we could please God by our efforts or sincerity, then it would mean that a finite person can appease an infinite God by doing good works. It further means that sincerity becomes a meritorious condition of the heart. It would be like saying, "God, I am worthy to be with you because of the good works I have done and the good and sincere condition of my heart." Can any mortal who has fallen into sin ever do anything good enough to please an infinite God? The answer is no. Gal. 2:21 says, "I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” In other words, if we could get to heaven by what we do, then Jesus didn't need to die on the cross. Therefore, God has established that our works and sincerity cannot be good enough.

Finally, for those who still maintain that we can please God by our efforts, we must ask how many good works must he perform in order to undo an offense against an infinitely holy God? Is there a standard by which we can judge which sin requires how many goods works to cancel out? There is none. Therefore, he is left in a predicament. Since God must punish the sinner for offending Him (breaking His holy and righteous law), and our works cannot undo the offense against God, then how are we going to escape so great a righteous judgment?

The way of escape

The only way to escape the righteous judgment of God is to trust in the provision He has made. This provision is found in Jesus. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life," (John 3:16). Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6). Jesus is also God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9). Therefore, Jesus' life is of infinite value. This means that His sacrifice is sufficient to cleanse you of your sins. It is capable of satisfying the infinitely righteous standard of God that is required to match His infinite holiness.

Jesus' sacrifice is the only provision acceptable to God the Father. If you want to escape the eternal judgment of God, you must put your trust in Jesus and what He did on the cross and in nothing else. Without Him, there is no hope of escape on the Day of Judgment. How do you do this? You receive Jesus (John 1:12). You trust in Him alone. You can ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins (John 14:14). Trust Him alone.
