Question:
Can someone help me with my Religious views?
?

Right..

-I am a catholic, I had a First Holy Communion, Confessions, I Went to Mass a lot, and i read the bible.

-I have a few strong beliefs; that people shouldn't: disrespect themselves by sleeping around, shouldn't take drugs, or worship the devil, or Sin at all? People should pray and have faith in god.

- But i smoke, and occasionally Drink. i suppose that is sinning, but if we didn't sin Jesus would have died for nothing, as he Died for our Sins?

-So am i a Catholic or am i some type of catholic? People say im not a catholic because i sin sometimes.

Help me out!

Jesus death is not a certificate for us to sin. It is to attorn for the things we did in ignorance or we did not do willingly.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

Heb 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery zeal being about to devour the adversaries.

It gets worse when we decide to abandon the grace

Heb 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Drinking in moderation is not a sin. Drinking to get drunk is a sin.

Smoking is a sin.

Jesus did not die for nothing. EVERYBODY sins.

Those people don't understand what the Church is. They think the Church is supposed to be a country club for saints when IN FACT it is a hospital for sinners.

The definition of a saint is NOT one who does not sin.

The definition of a saint is: 1) one who lives a life of heroic virtue. 2) a sinner who keeps trying.

It would be a matter of conscience, as sin must be done with intent. As an example if a person had male genitals, physique etc and when they looked in a mirror they saw a male then as far as they know that is what they are, regardless of what may be hidden inside due to a medical flaw of which they know nothing about. This is completely different to when that same person decides to pump hormones into themselves or have a doctor remove or modify their body parts to make them appear a member of the opposite gender. Also with today's technology we can easily determine the true gender through a DNA test, which even the most realistic surgery cannot change. With cases of extra chromosomes or where the parents or doctors may have intervened with a person when they were a child it would still come down to the individual's conscience. The bIble states the law is written on a person's heart so if that is the case then their own heart will tell them what they must do. If they feel it is right to be of a specific gender when no clear evidence indicates what they are then if their conscience is clear then they should go with it. If on the other hand they feel guilt or fear then perhaps they should wait or reconsider until such time as they feel more confident within themselves.

A lot of catholic priest smoke and drink, or they sinner`s too, priest`s have a drying out place in Colorado, where they get help with Alcohol problems and other SIN`S as you call it, but Hey! I am not Judging, I am just trying to answer your Question, Lighten up on your self, don`t keep score of your Sin`s, God will Judge you on what is really in your heart, and what you do when nobody is watching, that is what is important, People have a longer memory than God has, he will forget and forgive while you and others are still Judging what you think your sin`s are. anyway good luck and God bless you and yours.

Hi, im a muslim (you dont have to read more if you dont like what i have to say because i am a muslim, i wont force you) but i wont preach. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) often helped the Jews with their problems (of course, he used the Jewish law) because he was so good.

First of all, dont listen to those "people". They have no right to judge you. Only God judges people properly.

Secoundly, everyone sins. If we didnt sin, then we would be angels (angels are perfect). Dont think that means that we are allowed to sin, it means all humans are prone to sin at least once in their life. It is our nature.

Thirdly, if you know that it isnt right to drink and smoke, especially since they damage your health so much, why would you do it? I have never read the Holy Bible so i wouldn't know about the laws regarding drinking and smoking, but i know that it harms you. If you know something is (a) bad and (b) harms your health, why do it?

Plus, if you accidentally drink too much you could get drunk and hurt someone. Go to jail... throw away your young life... i dont think so.

Erm, how can you drink when you are 15? That is disgusting. I thought the legal age was 18; anyway, never mind. back to the point.

Fourthly, Prophet Isa, (also known as Jesus) pbuh, will not take away any of your sins, if you know what i mean. You are responsible for your own sins. Maybe i misunderstood what you wrote, if so, apologies.

Fithly;

discover what you are doing wrong.

Acknowledge that it is wrong.

Admit that you are doing something wrong and it isnt right.

Repent for your sins with the intention of not doing it again.

Try your best not to do that mistake or any other mistake again.

If you do it again...

Repeat the process. Remember to have the intention not to do it again.

Oh and that is disgusting what some people wrote.

Prophet Jesus (pbuh) was a great, great prophet. How dare you insult him. If you have had a bad experience with a Christian or any other religion, do not automatically assume every religion is wrong or any avarage joe who writes false verses of the Holy Bible is right. It is disgusting. If you have a problem, go to the person who made you unhappy, not the religion.

If a kid beat me up, i would talk to that kid, not automatically assume that all the people related to that child is evil.

Good luck!

Can i preach to you about Islam and how the media depicts it totally wrong?

No?

never mind, then. :)

I don't think there's anything really wrong with occasionally indulging yourself with things that you enjoy. The important thing is to not overindulge yourself by doing it too much - a glass of wine with your dinner is very different to being an alcoholic, for example. But to be honest it sounds like you've figured that out already. People who say that you must always 100% abstain from anything like this are extremists promoting an impractical philosophy.

Really, the question of what your consider yourself has nothing to do with this. Do you strongly hold these religious beliefs? What are they doing to make you a better or happier person? How important are they to you? These are the questions you should be asking yourself. And remember that you don't need to follow a religion in order to be a good person.

I've always been of the opinion that religion is a very personal matter. A set of core beliefs can be associated with a large religious organisation (for lack of a better word), e.g. Catholicism, Anglican

Remember that christianity is comprised of a huge set of different religions catering to various ideas and beliefs. I was raised a catholic, but am now an athiest (however much I hate that word).

I dont think many christian religions have lax stances towards drugs and alcohol, although I dont believe there is anything wrong with either (within reason of course)

Perhaps someone would care to enlighten us both?

I was born into the Catholic faith Them crazy nuns and priests ran me off when I was 12 that was in the 50's. I love all the good followers, go to confession on Saturday church on Sunday and spend the rest of the week doing it all over again. What type of Catholic- hypocrite

"Sins" are indispensable to every society organized on an ecclesiastical basis; they are the only reliable weapons of power; the priest lives upon sins; it is necessary to him that there be "sinning."

Don't worry we are all sinners, all you have to do is read your Bible, accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and SAVIOR, repent and confess your sins to HIM and HIM alone.. because he is the only mediator between us and GOD! we are saved through grace and faith in GOD alone. As a catholic you are kinda forced to do works,(after all HE did die for our sins) right? But it is not necessary just make sure you repent every time you sin(unknowingly that is) because we can't just go on sinning on purpose and then think we can just repent later, no that is not the way it works.

Once you have a personal relationship with JESUS, HE will never leave you. So you don't have to depend on a rosery, or images of saints or statues, not even the crusifix.

All it takes is Just dropping to your knees in all humility and asking JESUS for forgiveness and to guide you in the right direction,(the narrow way) and to give you the knowledge and strength you need to understand everything and to apply HIS will in your life!

I hope this helps, GOD BLESS!

EDIT:

WOW! @ Newly Born,

The way you typed all of that down, made it seem personal with you. You really have a problem with Jesus, don't you?

JESUS loved everybody as everybody should love HIM! But there are stubborn people like you that are so blind and full of rage inside, you just don't give yourself the opportunity to see the truth. I will pray for you so that you may find peace of mind. GOD BLESS! :)

First and formost we are Christians every denomonation who holds Jesus first is considered Christian. We all sin Jesus says even if your married and look at a beautiful lady/man if your a girl and look at them lustfully Jesus says we are sinning in thought and is still a sin. How then can we ever reach heaven? We cant alone no human can. Weather Catholic Baptist etc. We must know Jesus took our sins when he was baptized and paid the debt for us on the cross we are sinless in Jesus if we believe and follow him faithfully. So you sinning by drinking smoking is yes a sin but so is many other things you might not even be aware you are doing. See how impossible it is not to sin. God knew we would sin and continue to be sinners till death so he sent Jesus to pay off our debt. In Him and only in Him can we stand clean and rightous on the judgment day. I would say you are neither you are a Christian I can tell because you honestly want to do good and not sin and believe in Jesus. Continue to attend Catholic masses if it makes you positive and gives you strength but being in Jesus is bigger then any church name. I hope this helped

Drinking isnt a sin at all!!!!

Didnt Jesus turn water into wine, and Im sure he liked a little tipple.

Moses smoked, not just tobacco but Marajiuana too :) (read the bible its true!!)

None of these things are sins, greed and gluttony are sins though, so doing these things to excess could be seen as a sin

nd why do you want to tar yourself with a label????

Also, EVERYONE sins, catholic, protestant, Jew, Muslin, it doesnt matter, all people sin sometimes no matter what they say or what religion they are

Jesus died for your sins past present and future. The people who berate you have become self-righteous. That is a sin. We are told not to boast of our righteousness but of our sins. God has more regards for people who are honest with themselves. I* have met many Christians who have left churches because they berated people for having sin as though they were something special.

If they looked in their own eye they would find a rafter. You sound like a very good christian who is keen to please God. Yeh. I am christian and l smoke and used to have a drink or too. You are accountable to God and not them. Thank God! I sometomes think God does not take ALL our sin away so we cannot boast of our righteousness. Righteousness comes from Christ within us not by our own doings. You just keep pressing on. You are doing just fine. You are a child of God.

Sin is not primarily an action.

Sin is a state, or condition, in which we are born.

The wrongful acts are a result of sin.

You don't want to smoke out of pure common sense.

For that matter you shouldn't want to be a catholic, for the same reason.
2010-08-23 05:17:43 UTC
Sounds like you're a Catholic, so long as it isn't too personally inconvenient for you.

Which should beg the question in your mind of why you feel the need to identify yourself as a Christian in the first place, if you're going to pretend that the rules don't really count when they get in the way of your having a good time...

God knows there is sin. Just keep your heart pure as in try to do good. And don't worry about a "title" for what you are, the only thing that matters is your relationship with God.

Catholics draw all their rules from any infallibe Pope... The Pope has the last word on gays and other predators in the Clergy, and about abortions and the "SATANIC" use of CONDOMS NOT TO REPRODUCE OUR SPECIES ESPECIALLY TO BREED MORE CATHOLICS!

Here is how Christianity as we know it today got started...

JESUS LOVES THE ROMAN TAX COLLECTORS, PROSTITUTES AND EVEN THE SODOMITES MORE THAN THE JEWS that he came to be their MESSIAH KING! The UN represented then by the 3 or so many Star Gazers from some oddball Eastern countries came to worship (of all people) the “NEWBORN KING OF THE JEWS” (Mat 2:2) not the “SAVIOR OF THE WORLD!”

Many years after the alleged “Jesus” passed away the HOLY BIBLE writers made it clear that the “King of the Jews” was a friend of the ROMANS! After his initial flirting with the Jews “Jesus” confessed to PONTIUS PILATE that his kingdom was NOT OF HIS ROMAN WORLD (John 18:36)! The Early Church Fathers worked hard to make the Christian religion acceptable to the ROMAN authorities until they got the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH FULLY ESTABLISHED. After 1,500 years of virtual religious exclusivity, the invention of the printed media made possible all kinds of new Christian brands to pop up with new ideas on how to exploit the Christian religion!

In a RADICAL DEPARTURE from the 1st Commandment, “Thou shalt have NO other GOD before me,” the Bible writers have their “Jesus” character TEACHING TO PAY TAXES FIRST TO THE ROMAN CAESAR GOD and whatever is left over give it to the Bible God (Mat 22:21, Mar 12:17, Luk 20:25)! In the Roman Empire Caesar was worshiped as God so the transition to worship the Bible God through a Roman Pontiff was a smooth one! SAINT PAUL ORDERS THE CHRISTIANS IN ROME TO OBEY THE ROMAN AUTHORITIES!

Romans 13:6 For this cause PAY YE TRIBUTE* (*first to Caesar God, like Jesus said!) also: for they are God's ministers, attending CONTINUALLY UPON THIS VERY THING* (*Some stubborn Christians were fed to the lions at the Roman Circus for not getting the message!)

Jesus never made it easier for any Jew to “enter Heaven” except for the PROSTITUTES and ALL the Jewish ROMAN tax collectors. He has them entering Heaven ahead of ANY STRAIGHT JEW! Christianity was obviously put together by some loyal Roman Jews like Saint Paul. The Bible writers NEVER favored any other decent trade among the Jews as much as PROSTITUTION, TAX COLLECTION, and SODOMY. Sodomy is not really a trade except for some “MALE SHRINE PROSTITUTES” that King Solomon instituted in his Holy Temple of God. They were servicing the laity’s sexual needs like in any Heathen Temple, until King Josiah came up reforming everything. Saint Paul also reformed the sexual activities conducted WITH PRIDE in the Christian Church at Corinth. Today, because of SECULAR MORALITY STANDARDS Christians in general do it ONLY in their “closet” until they get caught like Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Ted Habbard, and so on!”

2 Kings 23:7 He* (*King Josiah) also tore down the quarters of the MALE SHRINE PROSTITUTES* (*they were servicing all worshipers for over 300 Bible years!), which were in the temple of the LORD…

1 Corinthians 5:1-2 It is actually reported* (*public knowledge) that THERE IS SEXUAL IMMORALITY AMONG YOU* (*In Church!), and of a kind that does not occur EVEN AMONG PAGANS: A man has his father's wife* (*a teenager guy having sex with his own mother). And YOU ARE PROUD!

Matthew 21:31 Jesus said to them, "I TELL YOU THE TRUTH* (*no more BULL CRAP!), the tax collectors* (*the Jewish ROMAN TAX COLLECTORS) and the PROSTITUTES* (*not ex-prostitutes, but ACTIVE JEWISH PROSTITUTES of all sorts including gay and lesbian prostitutes that Jesus must have known personally!) ARE ENTERING* (*before Jesus was even crucified for anybody!) THE KINGDOM OF GOD ahead of you* (*STRAIGHT JEWS! When Jesus Christ is speaking the truthm all Christians listen!).

Matthew 11:24 (KJV) But I say unto you* (*again, NO BULL CRAP!), that it shall be more tolerable for the land of SODOM in the Day of Judgment, than for thee* (*STRAIGHT JEWS!)

Jesus imposed all sorts of sarcastic rules for the Jews in ANY OTHER DECENT TRADE to enter Heaven, from HATING THEIR OWN PARENTS (Luk 14:26), to chopping off body organs and limbs (Mat 18:8), including CASTRATION for the “KINGDOM SAKE” (Mat 19:12), to give away ALL THAT THEY OWN (Luk 14:33) and so on! No Christian today ever believes “in Jesus” like that!

Nevertheless, Rahab was a hot PROSTITUTE! She is in “Heaven” now! The MALE ANGELS don’t have to come to Earth anymore ISO girls for sex like in the days of Noah (Gen 6:4). 1,500 Bible years after her death Saint Paul and Saint James are still promoting her services as a RIGHTEOUS PROSTITUTE. In their Bible stories she is an EXAMPLE to follow (Rom 15:4)! Saint Paul was upset at some other prostitutes, but not at her! He listed her in the “BIBLE FAITHFULL SAINTS HALL OF FAME!”

Hebrews 11:31 (KJV) By faith the PROSTITUTE* (*not ex-prostitute, but RIGHTEOUS PALESTINIAN PROSTITUTE!) Rahab, BECAUSE she welcomed the spies* (*any hot Bible prostitute would welcome even a HORSE for the right money -Eze 23:20-21), was not killed with those who were disobedient* (*God had the rest of the Palestinian residents in Jericho including innocent children and pregnant women totally slaughtered, as usual).

James 2:25 (KJV) In the same way, was not even Rahab the PROSTITUTE* (*not the ex-prostitute, but THE PROSTITUTE!) considered RIGHTEOUS for what she did when she gave lodging* (*Rahab was the brothel’s madame) to the spies and sent them off in a different direction.

Rahab LIED! The Bible writers STILL REMEMBER her with great devotion and respect. Israel conquest of the Promised Land wouldn’t have been possible without her help -Joshua 2:1-3, 6:17-25. Some Preachers claim that school kids in Israel read the Bible as their HISTORY book. I wonder how they honor a RIGHTEOUS PROSTITUTE of the Rahab class.
