Life's an emergent property of the way natural components have interacted and come together. I don't think it's anything separate, and it doesn't carry on after death.

Personality doesn't survive death; it is a function of the body; the mythical concept of the soul seems to have come from ancient Greek religion. In fact, personality doesn't even always last while the body lives.

We will return to the way we were before we were conceived, which wasn't the nightmare you're imagining was it? You weren't aware of it, so it didn't matter to anyone. And the molecules that made up our bodies will be recycled by nature. If we have children, then our genes persist in later generations. People we leave behind will be left with memories, emphasising the happy ones hopefully, once they have come through the grieving process.

I've accepted that things are the way they are, and have come to terms with the reality of this quite some time ago. And I'm happy and at peace with that. Heaven and Hell, and other lands of the dead, are mythical places. So we can take comfort from knowing that we don't risk eternal torment.

Your body is made up of energy and you are a living sentient being who never dies. The body is a vehicle to keep your living soul in, and when you die your soul goes to the source of everything. Having had a near death experience I tell you there is no real death. Only immortality for your living soul. Do not be afraid of death, it is the start of a whole new existance that is so real and so very beautiful. You pass through a tunnel of darkness for a second and shoot out into light, the experience is one I cannot put into words. The love you feel is more than you can ever experience on earth. Forget the fear now, you are not alone and in truth you and everyone else is immortal..

Fear is your only enemy, you are here to experience everything so go and do just that and know that when your time comes, you still have the best experience to come.

There is NO ' darkness forever'

The apostle Paul said...

(Acts 24:15) And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

This is supported by...

(Revelation 20:12, 13) And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. The dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead in it, and death and the Grave gave up the dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds.

Because our death fully paid for whatever we did wrong when alive, then the judgement is based on our acceptance or not of the conditions we find on the earth when we are resurrected...

(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death,

Wages are always fully paid, even if small.

The new rules/ conditions are those based on Jesus' teachings...We must be obedient.

Right. Well have fun going on about the darkness, I for one, believe that we will go to Paradise or Hell when we die. I have just accepted Islam yesterday and I feel more secure, patient, like I have a purpose in my life. And I also feel hope.

When I said my shahada (declaration of faith that makes u a Muslim), it didn't hit me right away, but when it sank in that I am now a Muslim, been washed clean of all my past sins before becoming a Muslim and that I was now a part of Islam, I was so happy I had tears in my eyes and all. Btw I'm not really that emotional anyway.

So I believe that u can have hope for Jannah/paradise/heaven whatever u wanna call it. Just believe in 1 God, believe there is a day of judgement/ last day and try and be a good person.

Did I mention I feel hope? I didn't feel it properly before, now I am on top of the world :)

The good news is, that according to the Bible, there will be a resurrection of a multitude of people in the future. (John 5:28 & 29) So while meantime while dead one is aware of nothing, (Eccl.9:5 & 6) you will still have a chance of being brought back to life. Not only did apostle Paul demonstrate he also had faith in such a promise(Ac.24:15), but Jesus demonstrated that such a thing was possible on different occasions. (John 11:11-44, Mark 5:35-43, Luke 7:11-15)

Additionally, in the future when the dead are brought back to life, it will be in a world devoid of evil people(Ps.37:10, 11, 29, Prov.2:21 & 22), but life's miseries will have been removed as well. (Rev.21:4)

Yes I will die and so will you along with the rest of all living things. I accept death, I'm 66 and realize it's coming. I don't relish the dying part. It's always messy and mostly painful.

Do you remember what it was like before you were born? It's exactly like that. Do you remember "seeing" anything? No you don't because you didn't exist yet. When you die your mind ceases to function. This is a truism.

Does some immaterial part of you survive? No one can say with absolute certainty. Given that concentrate on the life you have - this one.

Fear of death helps keep us alive but excessive fear leads to sleepless nights and tears. I agree with Nous. You need to see a nonreligious counselor or speak to your primary care doctor for a referral.

First you are right when you say you will die. You are 100% wrong when you say you will see nothing and darkness for eternity.and not everyone accept this,I certainly don't you see I know what is coming in the future. So here is a look into it. and when you see this happen the world will know how stupid and

wrong it was. Jesus Gods Son is going to return to the clouds

{Note not to the earth} and He will take all who are saved to

heaven at that time.and they will be there for seven years.

Now during this 7 years the earth will be in a terrible state the worst that it has ever been. There will be a dictator on the earth at this time. and he will demand that all worship him. and you will have to get a mark on your forehead or hand in order to be able to buy or sell. and this is no fairytale I could go on and on

Wish I could speak to you face to face

My darling, you are part of the Great Chain of Being. Many many lives have been lived on this earth, and each made an indelible mark, as will yours.

The phases that we pass through on the way to maturity are:

1. The archaic stage- marked by a dim awareness of dualities. An infant can not tell where it’s self ends, and the environment begins, it is one with the mother and one with the world. However, this state must be surrendered if the child is to advance and grow. The child must realize that it is its own person. In modern day individuals, if there is a fixation at the archaic stage due to repeated trauma or frustration or physiological malfunction- then the result is some type of psychosis, such schizophrenia. You can’t tell where your body stops and the chair begins. You hallucinate. There is nothing paradisiacal about it.

2. When the young child first realizes they ARE separate, the next step is the magical. This is very close to the first stage. There is still fusion. The magic of voodoo is representative of this stage…sticking a pin in a doll is the same thing as hurting an actual person. There is also a lot of narcissism in this stage, as it was just “one” with the entire world; the child believes that he can control it. 200,000 years ago, the magical stage was the highest level that evolution had reached. Today, if people are “stuck” in this stage, then the result would be classified as “borderline”, meaning borderline between psychotic and neurosis.

3. The next level is mythic (usually emerges at around age 7) and involves the concrete operational structure of roles and rules. The self is continuing to differentiate from the environment with increasing clarity. Realizing that THEY can not fly or do magic, they transfer the ability to gods (and did the ancients), or a variety of super heroes. Stories are told in which morals are derived. Magic is “poof”, while myth is “once upon a time…” When there is arrested development and a person is not able to move past this stage, the result is various types of neurosis. Neurosis is an unconscious myth; it’s a false and distorted story you subconsciously tell yourself. This is why cognitive therapies work so well. When you are able to see that the stories that you are telling yourself (I am unlovable, If I want this or that then I am bad”) using reason -the next higher stage- you disrupt the myths. When these stories of yourself are proved false, they no longer have any power over you. If you stay in this level, you will have what is called a fundamentalist world view that either refuses to explore other ideas or concepts, or simply does not have the mental operational ability to do so.

4. Rational stage or the stage of reason- While the mythic stage may seem imaginative, it is actually quite limiting because it is concrete and literalistic. The rational view is able to take the “morals” of the stories and use them to look at the possibilities in new and varying contexts. The rational stage allows for self-reflection and introspection. It is this structure that discovered science, medicine and physics. It understands that the truth is not always cut and dried, so interpretive truth comes into existence. If you stay in this stage, there are no consequences, as this is the stage at which evolution at large has reached. But whenever the goodwill of men and women become battered, look out, because the myths come running in to replace reason.

5. Existential level- This has three specific and unmistakable characteristics- a) mind/body integration b) vision-logic (collecting groups of possibilities to create holistic systems) c) comes to terms with finitude and mortality. This stage of stark reality often allows us to move to the next stages.

6. Trans-rational --Because you can conceive of many ways of doing things, you can look within and decide what is right or wrong for you, not just look without and do what others say. Most of our moral heroes Thoreau, Gandhi, Martin Luther King jr. etc courageously marched to the call of change and inner knowing beyond what was taught to them by others.

7. Universal-Spiritual- This also has 3 levels (that we know of) the yogi, the saint and the sage. These levels realize the connection between all things (including our relationship with the past, present and future).

In this model, humanity can also be viewed as a continuous chain (since the beginning of time), and each of us play a role in the evolution of all of us. In my mind, this gives real meaning to my life. I can live for an idea that is greater than myself, without having to descend into myth or fairy tales (although I am free to explore them and imagine them, as they can be therapeutic and healing when imagined playfully with intention). We are indeed very lucky to be alive in THIS place and time. Our task is to make things better for those who will follow.

Hebrews 9;27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die but then after that the judgment. What is important is how are you prepared for the judgment. The God who created the world and all things in it also provided a plan so that we all may spend eternity with Him in Heaven and it is through the birth, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus. When Jesus shed His blood on the cross as a final blood sacrifice for all mankind Salvation was provided for every living soul from that day forward, but it has to be accepted through Repentance of our sins and a lifetime commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If you do this you have God's promise that you have been secured for all eternity and you won't have a need to cry yourself to sleep ever again. I speak from experience. God bless.

Pointless worrying over what you can't control. Nobody knows what happens for sure but religions were invented by lying scumbags looking to make money and only later claimed to have in turn invented morality so don't waste time on that. Immortality is about 5 years away. Aging in mice was reversed last year. So you might live thousands or millions of years. By then you might want tohave a permanent sleep.

Its not that bad. There is no evidence of an afterlife and there is no reason for one to exist. Dying is typically described as just like falling asleep, only without dreams. When you go to sleep at night and its one of those where you cant remember dreaming, how do you feel when you wake up? its almost as if you zoned out for a second, then suddenly your alarm clock is going off. you have no perception of time because that part of your brain is inactive. in fact, your entire brain is inactive. You wont even know your dead, no big deal. I like to believe reincarnation is possible, but i really have no reason too. Like when you die there are tons of different newborn consciousnesses to fill, and it may not even relate to time. you could be born 1000 years in the future instantly, of 1000 years in the past. Scientists are currently measuring the level of consciousness something has, humans are at %100, computers are about 0.01%, ants are 1% i think. some creatures are up a lot higher. your consciousness may be divided up a hundred thousand times. but even if that were true or even possible with a modern understanding of physics, you wouldnt be you. personality dies with the brain, memories die with the brain, everything is left behind. There is nothing to fear, you wont be bored, or even able to be bored

Are you for real?? What do you think happens when you die, that you lay buried in your casket and see nothing for eternity? If you believe in some religion or other, you would wind up in that religion's equivalent of heaven, IF your religion is right. If all the religions are wrong and the atheists right, then when you die that is the end, you no longer exist, PERIOD. Even if your body were to lie in the grave for eons, you would not know it, nothing of you the person exists any longer. To an atheist there is no such thing as a soul.

Death is a difficult thing for people to deal with. Humans naturally fear what they do not understand and everyone must come to terms with it in their own way.

Your question asks us how we accept death. So I will give you my personal answer. I am an atheist, and don't believe in an afterlife of any kind. when I die my understanding is that my memories, my conscience, my mind will no longer operate, just like the time before I was born. I don't have any memories before I was born. There was no "nothing" or "darkness". I wasn't waiting, I was just absent. I wasn't there. The realization of this being true for after I die allows me to truly appreciate and enjoy the life I have now than when I considered the possibility of an afterlife. I Understand that this life is all I have and that is where my focus shifts. I live in the moment, seize the day. *que cheesy inspirational music* believe this life is more important than just a test. I attempt to make this world as close to my own personal "heaven" as I can possibly achieve. For me, the realization that when I die, I am gone, makes me work harder, be more kind, love deeper, and laugh more.

Fortunately for some and unfortunately for others this is Not how it is! for some death shall be a beginning of a forced learning experience! in that place called Hell this would equate to a Prison school which has different levels to suit different kinds of wickedness, it is a torturous experience because it is a direct consequence of wicked deeds, there is No escaping and no break from the churning up of every wrong deed, and every harsh spoken word that one has taken part in in micro detail durring their life, simply because each must learn through Harsh example! that refused to learn and Obey durring life, But Salvation can be had here if Repentance is adopted fully, and for Others they shall find themselves in a Paradise also called Abrahams Bosom! where their is Learning and Great joy indeed, it is Not Heaven but rather it is a temporary place as is Hell, for Hell shall be thrown into the Eternal Lake of Fire along with all whom are Not repentant, and those in Paradise shall join again the living, and also all whom have repented of their works and deeds.

you know what, I can see from reading your answers that everyone is preaching religion to you, and you clearly don't believe in it so that probably doesn't help lol.

I myself think of it this way. If there is nothing but darkness then why not make the most of life while we are here no matter how much you struggle. Me for example I can't get a job in my graduate field, dealt with lots of personal issues and have never allowed myself to become depressed about it.

Not going to lie its not easy but you get one life so why not spend it as happily as possible right.

hope this helped.

Things occurred in my life that made me seek a higher power. I found the higher power through much pain. However it can be found through love alone. Not the kind of love we think about. It's called uncoditional love, but still the concept is impossible in this context for me to explain or you to understand. However, I am certain of several truths and I may be a witness in this regard for whomever has faith. There is a loving diety. We are one with it. Forgiveness has healed the world but in this context it's impossible for me to explain or for you to understand. The answer above by danintac is the closest to the truth of what I've read so far. One thing I can say for sure is no need to worry or to accept. Stay in the present to feel the best. Also, it's alright. Like that inspirational John Legend song, you are loved with your "perfect imperfections." Also, the song by Ed Sheerhan. Little things. "Seek the honesty and love in life and you'll find it", and know that hate, guilt, sin are not real and made up by those that are hurting. The ego or Man made time, it's not real, if it were our life here is so brief think of it as one tiny drop of water, off of a pin, into an ocean of time. Best advice - "don't worry, be happy".

The total matter of the universe is fixed. Nothing is destroyed. Only transformed. Who knows what you will become. I think it will be good. There is more than meets the eye in the universe. There is more to life than a collection of atoms and molecules. Rocks have all these things. We just don't have the knowledge or technology to understand what it is. For the lack of a better and more scientific description, I really believe we are spirits in the material world. It is here that we learn empathy, joy, sadness, pain, pleasure, faith, hope, love, etc. You should go on a spiritual journey of self discovery. Not necessarily a religious quest. I think it will be good for you.

Dont be sad read this ;)

The Bible says: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5; Psalm 146:4) Therefore, when we die, we cease to exist. The dead can’t think, act, or feel anything. The Bible often compares death to sleep. (Psalm 13:3; John 11:11-14; Acts 7:60) A person who is fast asleep is unaware of what is happening around him. Likewise, the dead are not conscious of anything. Yet, the Bible teaches that God can awaken the dead as if from sleep and give them life again. (Job 14:13-15) For those whom God resurrects, death is not the end of everything.

First of all, I believe we are ultimately better off taking the world as it really is, rather than how we wish it were. This was hard for me too, when it really sunk in that there was no afterlife, that when we died, that was it. I don't like facing my tax bill either, but all the wishful thinking in the world is not going to make it go away. You have to face reality.

Second, once you have learned to accept it, I believe it requires a certain amount of courage to do so. Be strong! Sometimes it takes some guts to face reality, especially when human beings find it so easy to lie to themselves. Be honest with yourself! You OWE it to yourself to tell yourself only the truth!

Third, once you have accepted and digested it, and rallied your moral courage and honesty, then the next step is to do what you can in THIS LIFE to make it as good as you can! Make it as rich, as fulfilling, as fun, as you can. Enjoy the simple pleasures in life, but also work to make the world a better place when you leave. In the end, it's all you can really do--leave improvement in your wake, as you cut through the waters of life. Help people. Our successes as a culture and a people are cumulative. They accrete. A few leave a huge contribution, some leave smaller more modest contributions, but they may figure huge in the lives of the people you tough.

Finally, Realise, when you have only one life to live, that makes it very precious. Work to improve human culture and society. Be a constructive force, and get your satisfaction from that--knowing that nothing lasts forever, including you. But we can find happiness in the present, and still live a good, full life.

I truly hope this helps.

Funny how religion has caused so much confusion when in truth the scriptures show when you die you are in a sleep like state, you know nothing for in death your thoughts do end but is that the end of you, not according to the scriptures! Act 24:15 speaks of a resurrection of the dead, all true followers of Christ believed in this resurrection of the last days, read John 11:24 where one of Jesus' followers, Martha, said those exact words, "I know he will rise in the resurrection of the last days"!

2 Timothy 4:3-4 shows that in the last days there will be false teachers that only teach what people want to hear, like if your good you will go to heaven, most religions except donations as a way to buy your heavenly place, they would never admits this but boy do they take the money when in truth life after death is a free gift because of the sacrifice that our Lord and Savior gave up when he died on the torture stake(stau·ros′) not (

crux) which is the Greek word for cross, stauros means tree, pole or upright stake where crux is the pagan synbol of the sun god! This is why you see so many circles when it comes to worshiping the cross, Jesus and Mary.

When will this resurrection take place, Rev 7:9,14 answer this ) 9 After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. 14 So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one that knows.” And he said to me: “These are the ones that come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

The great tribulation is Armageddon, John 5:28-29 shows that after Armageddon is when the dead will be judged, not for their sins before Armageddon because their death acquits from thie sins(Romans 6:7) For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin.

Some Bibles say freed, frees or justified, all mean they are not acountable for their past sins, this is because of their sinful state, once resurrected they will then be accountable for their actions, Satan will be abyssed during this time because it's God's Kingdom that will be ruling (Dan 2:44)!

So stop crying yourself to sleep, take in accurate knowledge (John 17:3), you can download free of charge "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" at jw.or and watch Bible based information at t.v.j.w.org

1 Corinthians 3:6 shows our heart condition, are we really looking for the truth or do we just want our ears tickled(2 Timothy 4:3-4)?

Honey you will not see anything. You will not be aware of anything. You will not be aware of time or eternity... it will be like being in a deep, deep dreamless sleep. You won't know a thing.

It's okay-- yes, I know it is scary. We all want to live. But really it is nothing bad. Just don't waste your life worrying about the inevitable death that will come after it. There is nothing to fear after death-- it is pure oblivion. Enjoy life while you can.

You could read Heaven and Hell by Emanuel Swedenborg. He had visions of the spiritual world for 13 years straight and wrote about it in detail. It doesn't seem made up, and it's definitely not imagination. I've heard/seen spirits myself, as well as feeling them around. People have NDE, and people can sometimes agree on where the spirit of their family member is right when they die. So there's plenty of reason to believe in an afterlife.

nothing? darkness? Well I don't happen to believe that to be the case at all - but if it were - since you'd be experiencing NOTHINGNESS you won't be crying at anything by then, right? I happen to believe that we will ALL receive a degree of Glory & Light in the eternities...no more pain, suffering, misery or sadness for eternity. I sleep quite well at night myself :)

Approaching 70 years of age, yes I will die, but to say I/we will see

nothing and darkness for eternity, shows a complete misunderstanding

of the most natural process of all.

We die. Once dead there will be no I nor you that would be able to

see or feel anything. We cease to exist !

You may die or you may not die. Jesus Christ, the Son

of God, came to earth, lived a sinless life, but gave his

life to pay the price for all of your sins. Then God raised

him up from the dead, so that if you accept the payment

that Jesus made for your sins, that when your body dies,

God will also raise your spirit, the real you, to receive a

new immortal body, that will never know sickness, disease,

hunger, pain, sorrow; but peace, joy, love, and all the things

this world offers temporarily, will be yours eternally.

Jesus has promised that at a future date, that no one knows,

God will again send Jesus to take all of those that had

accepted him sometime during their life, and if they are

still alive at that time, they will not see death, but will be

taken alive, back to heaven with him.

If you want to be one of those taken with him, just open

your mouth and ask Jesus to forgive your sins, to come

into your life and save you. (Romans 10:9,10)

Then you can sleep like a well fed baby.

If one is not the elect of God, yes they will die and be no more,. There will be no darkness, you will not exist to even think about where you are. Do you think where you are when you are sleeping in bed? No. The bible teaches that only the ones that Christ came down and died for will live for eternity. Are you his chosen one? I have no idea, but you cannot get yourself saved. The bible teaches that NO one can. So, all you can pray is Lord, having had mercy, have mercy. If you are the Lord's, he will draw you to himself.

After we sleep we wake up.

We have a fear of lost should and those perishing in there sins, unredeemed.

Some of us attain faith that realize that G-d will remake humanity and resurect all In Reading Ezeikiel 37 . We realize that the flesh and bones will reform humanity both dead ad alive. Even other bioble passages to confirm this.

AS he said" I go to prepare a place for you..."

He does not leave the onus upon us to be saviour, deliverer and redeemoor.

So be Comnforted in that the Lord Jesus Christ will come again. We may seek Him daily and heed his commands.

Some of us spent many hours in prayers and the Word of God .

We realize that the Lord Jesus Christ exists.

How do you see anything if you are dead? Death is the opposite of living. Go to the Bible and read Ecc 9:5, 6 & 10. It says we know nothing when we die. Jesus told us there will be a resurrection of the dead. Please, you said you want help, go to jw.org and read what the Bible says on the subject. You will not be crying yourself to sleep, but be happy and content for knowing what happens. It's all free.

Fear is a negative. You will not find happiness through negativity.

There is no evidence that this life is the end and plenty of evidence that it is not. Therefor I do not accept death as anything more then a transference to a better life.

I see life as a lesson of positive and negative values. I think the life that waits for us is completely dependent on the way we have employed positive and negative forces in this life. I do not fear death any more than I fear going home. I look forward to it and I hope this helps.

What happens to us when we die? WHY THE QUESTION ARISES: Most of the world's religions teach that something inside a person continues living after death. Some hold that the dead can harm the living or that God punishes the wicked by condemning them to eternal torment in a fiery hell. WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: At death , humans cease to exist. "The dead...are conscious of nothing at all." states Ecclesiastes 9:5. Since the dead cannot know, feel, or experience anything, they cannot harm-or help-the living.-Psalm 146:3,4

The Bible states that when you die, there will be no remembrance of yourself. It's like falling asleep at night and waking up refreshed in the morning. That's the reason why Paul said that if he will die, he will be with Christ Jesus, his master. It's not in the sense tha Paul is now enjoying coffee with Christ Jesus in heaven, but it will be the time when Christ Jesus will come back again on June 2nd, 2016, after the day of tribulation.

You don't see darkness when you die, because you have no sight. You know nothing, see nothing, feel nothing. You go to dust, then to atoms. You exist as particles, which is as natural as you can get. Nothing to fear there... It's the process of dying people dread. That can get very nasty or sometimes be quite peaceful, but most of us don't get to chose the method, unfortunately....

You almost have it right. When one dies a believer in Jesus Christ will immediately be in heaven, an unbeliever will be in darkness. All unbelievers will know why they are in hell. At Judgment day unbelievers will be judged for their sins from the words of the bible being found guilty they will be thrown into the lake of fire. People their will have an inner conscious burning from regret by not obeying the word of God and by no accepting Jesus when they had the chance. The light and goodness of God will never be seen again.

change from being an atheist to a christian then you'd know there is beauty, warmth, love after death.

Either way though it's silly to cry yourself to sleep over this.

Death is merely 'deep' sleep'. You will wake up soon. There is nothing to be scared about having a 'deep sleep'.

What happens after you wake up is what matters. Its going to be 'Judgement Day'.

How can you enjoy the short time you are granted in this reality when your filled with Life, if your focused on what happens after you die. Souls are recirculated and reallocated in this energy system we call the Universe, the reason you do not remember your past lives is because that memory is physically stored on the hard drive we call brains, when you die, hard drive gets wiped and you change computers

Careful!

What you describe is the psychological problem of THANATAPHOBIA: The irrational and unreasoned fear of death.

It can quickly turn into a debilitating condition and a psychiatric problem.

If what you say is true you are in urgent need of professional medical help!

Sadly it seems highly likely that your head has been played with by a BAD Christian so avoid whoever has been doing it and seek that help!

Actually, most people don't accept it. They just never think about it, distracting themselves with the many worries life has to offer. Then they or someone close to them is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and it finally hits them. They are going to die.

I would say this: We are all going to die. It is wisest to think about that reality everyday, rather than ignoring it or distracting yourself from it. It teaches you to live in the moment and take nothing for granted, putting your best into everyday so you can die with no regrets, so that when you come to the end you can say that you lived a good life and are content.

Dear friend, you do not need to be afraid. Jesus died to save sinners, and we are all sinners. Every single one of us. Read the Bible, starting with the book of John. Go onto Bible Gateway and it's there for free. Try the ESV or NIV versions. Tell Jesus you believe in Him and accept his death on the cross for your sins. Live as he asks you to live in the Bible. If you believe in Jesus and follow his words there will be no Hell for you. Don't let the religion pushers dump their personal trash on you, because one thing that most folks who have had near-death experiences agree on is -- it doesn't matter what your religion was, what matters is what kind of person you were.

Try reading books like "Many Lives, Many Masters" or "Saved by the Light."

I don't think that you will have the capacity to think or see when you die. It will be like falling into the

deepest sleep. It is the "big sleep" of non-existence. What survives us are the reactions to our actions.

When we die our lives are complete. Of course, I have no way of knowing if that is true, but that is what

I think.

If someone was to claim about a building: “This building will be destroyed, and will then be repaired and reconstructed so that it is intact,” six questions would surely arise in the face of his claim.

The First: Why should it be destroyed? Is there a reason or something to necessitate it? If the answer is “Yes” and if it is proved, the second question will be asked.

“Does the builder who would destroy and then reconstruct them possess the power to do so? Would he be capable of it?” If the answer is “Yes,” and if it is proved, the third question will be asked.

“Is the destruction of this building possible?” If the answer is “Yes,” and if it is proved, the fourth question will be asked.

“And, will such a possible destruction occur in the future?” If the answer is “Yes,” and if it is proved, the following two further questions would arise:

The Fifth and Sixth questions “Is it possible for this strange building to be reconstructed? If it is possible then, Will it be constructed?” If the answer is “Yes,” and if they are proved as well, then in no aspect or corner of this matter can a gap or chink remain through which any doubt, misgiving or suspicion might enter.

Just like that simile, if it is proved that there are reasons for the destruction and reconstruction of this building of the world and the city of the universe, that its doer and master is able to do it, that its destruction is possible and will take place and that its reconstruction is possible and will take place, there will be no doubt or suspicion regarding the issue.

In order to properly benefit from our work, first of all, you need to know the path and method that we followed. The actions and manifestations in the universe are mentioned, and then we pass from action to doer, from name to its owner and from attributes to their owner.

For example, in the first step of the first proof, we will mention the sovereignty visible in the universe; through this proof, we will prove the existence of God, the Monarch of Pre-Eternity and Post-Eternity. In the first step of the second proof, we will mention the mercy visible in the universe and by using this proof of mercy, we will prove the existence of God, the All-Merciful. In the first step of the third proof, we will mention the dignity visible in the universe and through it, we will prove the existence of God, the Most Dignified One. The same method will be applied to the other proofs.

Names and attributes and then pass to doer from action, to the owner of the name from names, to the owner of the attributes from the attributes because actions cannot be without doers, names without owners, and attributes without makers; a needle cannot exist without a manufacturer and a letter cannot exist without a writer.

If one cannot deny the universe, he/she cannot deny the visible actions, either; if he/she cannot deny the actions, he/she cannot deny the doer, either; the one who cannot deny the doer, cannot deny the name belonging to the doer necessitating the Hereafter apparent in the actions, either.

You have to learn to accept death as a normal, natural part of life. Everything will die. Our earth will die, our sun will die, all the stars will eventually die. Our whole universe will die. Death is a normal, natural part of everything, and it's not bad. That's just how things are.

If you live your life under the assumption that death is bad, then you are in for a lot of heartache. Death is not bad. We are taught as children that death is bad. Death is not bad. It is a normal, natural, good part of everything.

Look at all the wonderful things that occur when you die-

No more pain.

No more suffering.

No sickness.

No diseases

No prejudice.

No hatred.

No fighting.

No killing.

No war.

No anxiety.

No insomnia

No lies

No cheating

No stealing

No injuries

No accidents

No frustration

No addictions

No divorces

No rejection

No losing

No failure

No worrying

My advice is to read the Bible and see what you think. Start in the New Testament, as it is the New Testament that relates to believers today. I would advise you read the book of John immediately, because it is the fastest way to get the whole essence of what Christianity really is all about.

Above all, if this issue is bothering you to the point of considering suicide - please, don't consider it! History has shown that most issues that cause people to kill themselves get resolved in a matter of a few years, and many people live happily after they overcome their fears/frustations/doubts.

Please, just give the Bible a chance. I think you'll see why so many have turned to it for help over thousands of years.

When you die (and you might not) it is just like sleeping you will know nothing. But, the best news of all is that God sent his son, so that we might have "everlasting LIFE..." He will call us from our sleep into a wonderful RESTORED PARADISE EARTH! Just like the GARDEN of EDEN in the beginning before our first parents Adam & Eve lost it by sinning.

Here are Biblical proofs of what I said, so please don't cry any more--rejoice with all other Bible students!

Ecclesiastes 9:5, "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun. Psalm 146:4 “when a man dies, “his thoughts do perish.”

Nominal “Christian” pastors use this to scare people into going to church and donating money to keep out of hellfire.” God would never roast and toast anyone!!!!

Hellfire? The word for that came from the word Gehenna, the common word for the Valley of Hinnom. That place east of Jerusalem was the city garbage dump. The city used burning sulfur to keep down disease. When Jesus used the word as the place of no return everyone understood what he meant, when he spoke of it.

Sheol and Hell: SHEOL AND HADES --What do they really mean? Let’s ask an authority-- the Webster's Dictionary says that the English word "hell" is equal to the Hebrew word Sheol e Greek word Hades. Hell is the common grave of mankind--according to Jesus Christ. John 11:11 Jesus said Lazarus was “sleeping” and he was going there to awaken him--and upwards of 500 people saw him. And Jesus had upward of 500 witnesses to his resurrection! The same will happen for all those sleeping in death!

Jesus said “Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.” (Lu 23:39-43)

This picture lets you know how the paradise on earth will be if you put faith in God, our father who's name is Jehovah--and his son, Jesus.

According to the Bible, the dead are unconscious, unable to feel pain. Ecclesiastes 9:5.

Jesus described the dead as if they were in a deep sleep, again, unable to feel pain.

The hope that the Bible gives for the dead is that of a future earthly resurrection. When Jesus' friend Lazarus died, Jesus compared death to sleep. Lazarus' sister had faith of the hope of the resurrection Jesus taught. That is she said "I know he (referring to her brother) will rise in the RESURRECTION ON THE LAST DAY." Jesus confirmed there will be a resurrection on EARTH when he resurrected Lazarus and many others. And the resurrection was NOT to purgatory, limbo, hellfire, or heaven. But rather right here on EARTH for us to believe. There were many eye witnesses to these events and it was left written in the Bible.

God better than anyone knows where are the dead. In His Word we can find the truth.

I encourage you to read God's promises for ALL for the not too distant future. See Revelations 21:3-5 where He promises "death will be NO MORE."

Jesus Christ said "happy are the mild tempered for they will inherit the EARTH."

At Psalm 37:11 the Bible says "the meek will inherit the EARTH."

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should

not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,

but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned,

but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

1 Corinthians 15:51-57

Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,

at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable

John 16:22

So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

1 Thessalonians

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. ...

Actually, for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they will be with HIM in heaven just after death (please read in the New Testament - John 3:16-18; 2nd Corinthians 5:6-8).

Those who have rejected Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will descend into hell - the outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, and the flame is never quenched (read Matthew 13:42-50; Mark 9:42-48).

That is NOT true. There is a Heaven and a Hell, you have to choose to follow Jesus Christ or not, if you follow Jesus, read the Bible, and follow him. You won't have to worry about dying at all.

Ceasing to exist does not mean "seeing nothing" or having any sort of experience at all. Remember what it was like before you were conceived and born? Before you existed? Neither do I. Same thing.

"At the moment of death, our soul rises out of its host body. If the soul is older and has experience from many former lives, it knows immediately it has been set free and is going home. These advanced souls need no one to greet them. However, most souls I work with are met by guides just outside Earth's astral plane.

A young soul, or a child who has died, may be a little disoriented until someone comes closer to ground level for them. There are souls who choose to remain at the scene of their death for a while. Most wish to leave at once. Time has no meaning in the spirit world. Discarnates who choose to comfort someone who is grieving, or have other reasons to stay near the place of their death for a while, experience no sense of time loss. This becomes now time for the soul as opposed to linear time.

Homecoming is a JOYOUS interlude, especially following a physical life where there might not have been much karmic contact with our intimate soulmates. Most of my subjects tell me they are welcomed back with HUGS, LAUGHTER and much HUMOR, which I find to be a hallmark of life in the spirit world."

Destiny of Souls - Michael Newton

“Regardless of their state of mind right after death, my subjects are full of exclamations about rediscovered marvels of the spirit world. Usually, this feeling is combined with EUPHORIA that all their worldly cares have been left behind, especially physical pain. Above all else, the spirit world represents a place of supreme quiescence to the traveling soul.

Although it may at first appear we are alone immediately following death, we are not isolated or unaided. Unseen intelligent energy forces guide each of us through the gate. New arrivals in the spirit world have little time to float around wondering where they are or what is going to happen to them next. Our guides and a number of soulmates and friends wait for us close to the gateway to provide recognition, affection, and the assurance we are all right. Actually, we feel their presence from the moment of death because much of our initial readjustment depends upon the influence of these kindly entities toward our returning soul.

Since encountering friendly spirits who meet us after death is so important, how do we recognize them? I find a general consensus of opinion among subjects in hypnosis about how souls look to each other in the spirit world. A soul may appear as a mass of energy, but apparently it is also possible for non-organic soul energy to display human characteristics. Souls often use their capacity to project former life forms when communicating with each other. Projecting a human life form is only one of an incalculable number of appearances which can be assumed by souls from their basic energy substance.”

And it is this sort of fear that get one to believe, to accept that there is such a thing as sin, and they pony up money and give up control of their lives, to avoid the inevitable...................that death comes to every living thing, and it is final and absolute.

You obviously are scared sh*tless over death. Tuff. It is the obvious common fate of us all.

Hen , these ignorant atheists are atheists not because they have intellectual doubts about God but be used they hate him. Every atheists here that I have debated on the afterlife ends up leaving the debate because they know that the evidence for the afterlife is very strong .

When I'm done making this post to you, you will not be crying anymore. You will be filled with joy and hope in knowing that the evidence for the afterlife is very strong and it only is getting stronger each and every year

Well It seems even medical science is starting to show compelling evidences for the afterlife that has atheists going nuts. Sam parnia's aware study, the largest near death study in the world published in a very respectable medical journal showed amazing evidences of the afterlife . A 57 year old social worker whose heart stopped and he went flatlined had a near death experience where he saw everything in his own room , even his own body and his own rescesitation had a veridical nde that was medically verified as having happened for 2.5. Invites with a functioning brain. Recently doctors have that after a heart stops beating there is a deep brain surge that lasts for 30 seconds that isn't detectable by the EEG .

The atheists said ""see, ths explains that Nde's are created by the brain , there is no soul you silly believers ""

But what was even more amazing is that the 57 year old social worker heard 2 bleeps from a device in the room and the device was set to go off every 3 minutes, which is 2.5 minutes after the deep brain surge. This is a medically verifiable nde that happened for 2.5 minutes with no functioning brain or brain activity.

Atheists just keep digging their holes deeper and deeper. Most religions have predicted this thousands of years before medical science has started to see evidences of it.

Atheists are just nitwits that don't care about the truth, they only care about dogmatically believing in their cult of atheism .

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2783030/Research-near-death-experiences-reveals-awareness-continue-brain-shut-down.html

Have scientists proved there is life after death? Research into 'near-death' experiences reveals awareness may continue even after the brain has shut down

Scientists conducted study of those who suffered cardiac arrests

Nearly 40% of those who survived described 'awareness' during time when they were clinically dead before their hearts were restarted

One man recalled leaving his body and watching his own resuscitation

Consciousness may continue even after death, scientists now believe.

Research into 'near-death' experiences has revealed that awareness and the mind may continue to exist after the brain has ceased to function and the body is clinically dead.

Scientists at the University of Southampton conducted a four-year study of more than 2,000 patients who had suffered cardiac arrests.

The research spanned cases at 15 hospitals in the UK, U.S. and Austria.

The findings revealed nearly 40 per cent of those who survived described some kind of 'awareness' during the time when they were clinically dead before their hearts were restarted.

Dr Sam Parnia, a former Southampton University research fellow now based at the State University of New York, who led the study, said: 'The evidence thus far suggests that in the first few minutes after death, consciousness is not annihilated.

'Whether it fades away afterwards, we do not know, but right after death, consciousness is not lost.'

The scientists heard one man recall leaving his body entirely, watching his resuscitation from the corner of the room.

The 57-year-old social worker from Southampton was 'dead' for three minutes yet managed to recount detailed actions of the nursing staff and the sound of the machines.

Dr Parnia said: 'We know the brain can't function when the heart has stopped beating.

'But in this case conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn't beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped.

'This is significant, since it has often been assumed that experiences in relation to death are likely hallucinations or illusions, occurring either before the heart stops or after the heart has been successfully restarted, but not an experience corresponding with ‘real’ events when the heart isn’t beating.

'Furthermore, the detailed recollections of visual awareness in this case were consistent with verified events.'

Don't listen to people who say there is no darkness for ever. There is and the Bible confirms it. It will be a very dark place for atheists and unbelievers who do not know God and don't obey Christ. They will be cut off from God for ever - that's a very dark place to be.

The only people who will be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 1: 8 & 9) which is being cast into outer darkness by the way - are those folks who do not believe in God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Read the verses for yourself - I am quoting from memory but I am pretty sure it says words to this effect -

When Jesus returns He is coming in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those WHO DO NOT KNOW GOD and on those who DO NOT OBEY the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and these will be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power....... and there's more I think (2 Thessalonians 1: 8 & 9).

So as long as you make sure that you DO believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit because these three are one (1 John 5:7) and you hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and obey Him - that is believe that Jesus died for you on the Cross and repent of your sins and be water baptized (by full immersion as an adult), for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38); you will be saved, because God gives His Spirit to those who obey Him and God's Spirit will not dwell in an unbeliever. Only in those who love our Lord Jesus Christ and Saviour. The Bible says the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will dwell in us - but only true Christians not counterfeits.

The reason for this is that Jesus' disciple Peter said that baptism now also saves us...... through Christ's resurrection (1 Peter 3:21).

Jesus also said, "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16) and Jesus said this just before He ascended (Mark 16:19), so it is an extremely important instruction to be obeyed - that you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be water baptized as He commanded ("Baptizing those who believe" Matthew 28:19).

You see Jesus said that the person who doesn't believe in Jesus is ALREADY condemned because they have not believed in the Name of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (I think it says something like that in John 3:18).

In addition, when the Centurion asked Paul the Apostle what he should do to be saved, Paul responded by saying believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and thy house - AND THEN PAUL PREACHED to the whole family AND THEY WERE ALL BAPTIZED at midnight. (Acts 16: 31 - 33)

Paul himself was commanded to be baptized for the washing away of his sins (Acts 22:16) and Jesus' disciple Peter commanded baptism in Acts 10:48).

When Jesus commanded baptism, He said believers were to be baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

So if you receive Jesus as Saviour, believe in Him, repent of your sins and get water baptized, you will be fine. You will have the assurance of your salvation, and you never need weep again or be afraid of outer darkness, because God will receive you as His true child. Read Galatians 3: 26 & 27 - it says we are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus and water baptism

Anyone who does not believe in Jesus Christ Paul said, "Let them be Anathema Maranatha" and that means accursed (Acts 22:16).

Jesus said we must be born again of water and Spirit - that's water baptism and Holy Spirit (John 3:3-5), so you can't go wrong by following Jesus and doing what He said.

Jesus said, "Why do you call Me "Lord, Lord" and do not do the things that I say (Luke 6:46) so it's important that we do what He says and He will receive you.

Besides, in baptism, Jesus Himself washes us from our sins in His own blood (Revelation 1:5) - so what could be better than having our sins washed away by Jesus Himself?

So don't fear any longer. Do what the Lord says and you will be safe because Jesus said, "My Sheep hear My voice (that means do what He says to do when He speaks in the Bible) and I give them eternal life and they shall NEVER PERISH, nor will anyone be able to snatch them out of My Hand or the Father's hand (John 10:28 & 29) because you see, Jesus and His Father are one.(John 10:30)

Do not accept DEATH! It is NOT your "friend".

Obviously, no one wants to "live forever" in a miserable condition, let alone in a tormented condition. No one wants to be "in a black hole" having "fire and demons" attacking you for all eternity. There is NOTHING wrong with fearing such places, if they actually exist; you should be afraid of "the UNKNOWN".

The ANSWER to the problem of DEATH is RESURRECTION; it is the ONLY thing offered by God. If there is no RESURRECTION then "eat, drink, and be merry", if you can, "for tomorrow you die".

In the 37th chapter of Ezekiel, God tells the prophet to "speak" to the "bones", DEAD PEOPLE, and when he does speak to the "bones" the DEAD come back to LIFE. God gave the prophet power to "raise the dead". Now, there will always be "skeptics". In Judea, there were two "religious" sects; one sect, the Pharisees, did believe in RESURRECTION; the other sect, the Sadducees, did not.

Getting to the "nitty gritty" of things, Jesus said,

John 11:25 “....I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,

John 11:26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (ESV2011)

From this I gather that God has given this man, this prophet, His MESSIAH, the power OVER DEATH. He is capable of RESURRECTING the DEAD.

The kicker is this. ALL of humanity that has DIED will be raised, in the FUTURE. No one has the option of "remaining dead" or "not existing". According to the "judicial record" EVERYONE will literally "stand" again.

John 5:28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice

John 5:29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. (ESV2011)

If you pay close attention to the above verses, you will be able to discriminate two TYPES of RESURRECTION; one is unto LIFE (everlasting life) and the other is unto JUDGMENT (condemnation).

The verses do not indicate that these two RESURRECTIONS will occur at the same time or place.

Essentially, what the scriptures indicate is that there is DELIVERANCE (SALVATION) from DEATH but ONLY via RESURRECTION. But there is a CONDITION to obtaining LIFE instead of JUDGEMENT.

John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

John 3:18 Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God. (HCSB)

Despite what all of the "spiritual" gurus say, God does NOT CONDEMN people for being SINNERS; the record clearly states that people "will NOT BELIEVE" Him and therefore come under CONDEMNATION, which is DEATH.

1John 5:10 (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.) (NET)

God has given His son Jesus Christ as an ATONEMENT for SIN which means Jesus has "paid the price". Since the PRICE (his own ignominious death) has been paid, God is able to OFFER "eternal life", the FIRST RESURRECTION to "WHOMSOEVER", as a FREE GIFT.

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Rom 10:5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.

Rom 10:6 But the righteousness that comes from faith speaks like this: Do not say in your heart, “Who will go up to heaven? ” that is, to bring Christ down

Rom 10:7 or, “Who will go down into the abyss? ” that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.

Rom 10:8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:

Rom 10:9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Rom 10:10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

Rom 10:11 Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,

Rom 10:12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him.

Rom 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (HCSB)

Being SAVED means being set aside for EVERLASTING LIFE in the age to come, the Kingdom of Christ. When Christ returns, THEN there will be LIFE EVERLASTING, in our RESURRECTED and immortal bodies. That is what God means by SALVATION, DELIVERANCE. It is not some "pie in the Sky" afterlife, nor is it some type of "cosmic evolution".

Such is the HOPE of every believer in the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ. He will return and establish his God given Kingdom ON EARTH, throughout the ages.

1Cor 15:24 Then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when He abolishes all rule and all authority and power.

1Cor 15:25 For He must reign until He puts all His enemies under His feet.

1Cor 15:26 The last enemy to be abolished is death. (HCSB)

Christians do not "fear death" because we are "brave" or "enlightened" about the vicissitudes of life. We do not fear it because it has been conquered, it has been overthrown, but its COMPLETE annihilation will not be till RESURRECTION occurs, for the believers in Christ, first.

1Cor 15:53 For this corruptible must be clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal must be clothed with immortality.

1Cor 15:54 When this corruptible is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place: Death has been swallowed up in victory.

1Cor 15:55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting? (HCSB)

Believe God when He says that He is able and willing to give you ETERNAL LIFE, as a free gift, because of what His son Jesus Christ has done for us by offering himself on the "TREE".

Heb 10:8 After He says above, You did not want or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings (which are offered according to the law),

Heb 10:9 He then says, See, I have come to do Your will. He takes away the first to establish the second.

Heb 10:10 By this will of God, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all. (HCSB)

Only ONE offering can completely SANCTIFY and DELIVER "anyone" that believes. It's YOUR CHOICE to make NOW. Take the offer and NEVER EVER worry about DEATH again.

Hope this helps.
