Were the other myths about messiahs and sons of gods not good enough for controlling the populace?

@ Schuyler: See this is the s h i t we're talking about. This is the s h i t. The Roman army/city watch didn't have a hard time controlling the populace??? Do you know how the Roman empire toppled? Obviously multiple factors are involved but come on...

You can study this in history.Constantine's mother went to the Holy Land on an fact finding mission about JESUS. She saw in archives there the evidence of JESUS from both Roman record as well as Jewish record. She returns to Rome with her evidence and Constantine turns to face the crowd and say's you are now all Christians.By the way THE WORD OF GOD doesn't do crowd control. You are free to worship satan if you like.satan does crowd control.
JESUS BLESS YOU

Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity in 311 AD (he attributed his victory to the Christian God), and it had already been gaining popularity in the Roman Empire.
By the way, it is generally accepted that Jesus existed. The difference is that Christianity attributes divine attributes to him, while non-Christians say that he was just a normal person.

Not as good no. Pauline Christianity had a lot to say about brotherly love and unity under Christ rather than by tribe, race etc. This was ideal for a vast empire which works best when different peoples get along.

It had NOTHING to do with any part of the Jesus Myth...FFS don't you bother staying awake in class anymore? The "conversion" of Constantine was a political tactic and little else...the general populace was Christian..and it SOLIDIFIED THE EMPERORS POWER over Rome...my goodness...give these children books to study and all they do is gnaw on the covers.
@ Tasha....is your bitter and whiney retort the very best endorsement of Christianity or what? Wow....your parents are sure proud of their little girl now aren't they? Oh wait...you're only 14 and wouldn't have the spine to talk sh*t face to face with Mommy standing there...poor little religiotroll.

To begin with Jesus Christ was not a myth. In order to be a follower and believer in Jesus Christ is ones own choice it has never been forced upon anyone, you cant force someone to believe something if they don't want to.

The more Christians they murdered, the more people decided to become Christian. They realized they could never get rid of this thing called Christianity, so they sought to at least be able to control it. And control it they did. When they took it over, you could only practice their form of Christianity. Any Christian reading un approved scriptures got into serious trouble, and the scriptures were burned. This was the beginning of the Roman Catholic Church. They were not the first Christians, no matter how much they try to claim to be.

Christianity was not made legal until 325 when Constantine signed the edict of Milan and it was made the state religion in 381 a.d. by emperor 'Theodosius.'

The Romans had a lot of gods before, but found out that these gods never answered their prayers. So why not try a new god?

It had that really nice bit about god knowing everything. Meant that the Plebs would be so easy to control.

They had an eye for business, a chance to get in on the ground floor of something very lucrative. It seems to have paid off rather nicely.

The people who ran christianity were willing to give Constantine what he wanted.
It was a bidding war.

Jesus is not a myth, you asked this question to foment dissension and stir up trouble. And the Romans did not need any help when it came to "controlling the populace."

But those other ones aren't true like the Bible, which has never been proven wrong.
