IMHO, all you're doing is wasting your time.

Authors like Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Silver Raven Wolf, Raymond Buckland, Scott Cunningham crank out books about how to get love, money, and above all else "protection". The Frost's Magic Power of White Witchcraft says "Witchcraft Can Make You Rich in a Ghetto" according to the title of chapter 11. However, the Frosts themselves aren't rich. Coincidentally, they claim to have taken a "vow of poverty" according to one of their webpages, to explain why they apparently can't make their spells work either. Silver Ravenwolf has written close to a dozen books on the subject of "The Craft", and claims she has been studying it since about 1969, which is almost as long as I’ve been alive. She has written a book on how to cast money spells, and includes a chapter on how to do so in her Teen Witch book, too. But the thing is, she doesn't particularly sound all that prosperous herself. Ravenwolf writes,

" For years I couldn't afford to go to a hair stylist (still can't, it's shop and chop for me). I got pretty good at stying my own hair from looking at magazine pictures" [SOURCE: Teen Witch, Llewellyn Publications, 2003 edition, page 145]

OK, she so rich she can't go to the hairdresser. Hey, get me a copy of that Prosperity Spell book!

Here's a quick overview of famous occultists:

Aleister Crowley :Started out a rich heir to Crowley Ale. Dies a penniless junkie in a flophouse.

John Dee: Created Enochian Magic. Died broke and stripped of his honors.

Edward Kelly: Died from complications due to a broken leg while attempting an escape from prison (for counterfeiting).

Anton LaVey : Wife beater, pimp, cannibal who died bankrupt in a house he no longer owned.

Franz Bardon: Died in prison, possibly suicide (imprisoned for making quack medicines)

Carlos Castenada: Committed suicide with his followers in the California desert.

Pamela Coleman Smith Member of the Golden Dawn & designed Waite's Tarot deck. Died penniless in a tiny London flat.

Jack Parsons: Claimed to be Crowley's successor. Blew himself up making nitroglycerin that he sold on the black market.

MacGregor Mathers :Ousted by the Golden Dawn after being exposed as a fake. He died penniless years later.

So, before you get started in this stuff, just keep an open mind, and think of the possibility it's something to avoid.

Magick takes a lot of practice, hard work, and dedication. It works, but often not in the way you expected. When I first started casting spells, the results were feeble--often they hardly worked. But as I got better the results got better, too. I highly suggest you study a little before you cast spells.

1. Include the appropriate moon phase and day of the week. What you use depends on what the spell is for. You may use a candle of the color associated with your need, incense and various herbs, Tarot cards, runes...the list goes on and on. It depends on the type of magick as well as what the spell is for.

2. A symbol is basically your intention in graphic form.

3. Every spell requires symbols of some sort.

4. I don't understand what you mean here. You don't have to say anything. Sometimes I chant a mantra, sometimes not. Some people sing their spells.

5. This depends on your spell.

6. It is complete when you've done all you need to do. The results won't be instant. Have patience and try not to worry about the outcome--this will just lessen the effectiveness of your spell.

If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me!

EDIT: Dr. Zoom is wrong. Magick should only be used if you REALLY need it, not for frivolous things. Why use it for money for a haircut? Also, most of don't truly need to be rich.

The highly influential Aleister Crowley died, at the age of 72, of a respiratory infection in a boarding house. He had been addicted to heroin after being prescribed morphine for his asthma and bronchitis many years earlier. Anton LaVey, founder of modern Satanism and a cool guy, died of pulmonary edema. He was not a pimp or a cannibal--though such rumors don't surprise me. I don't know about John Dee, but no one knows what caused MacGregor Mathers's death--some say influenza. He wasn't ousted because he was a fake--he was ousted because he was going against what was expected of him; he, apparently, initiated Crowley when no one wanted him to.

All doctrines have their freaks. Don't let this scare you. Magick is a tool you CAN use to become a better person. It's no weirder than prayer. It works--otherwise, why would so many people use it? Magick is no more evil than a hammer--it just depends on how you use it.

Try going to your local bookstore and asking for (The Encyclopedia Of Spells) or some other Beginner's spellcaster guide. A good book will list all the materials you need, some basic spells, history of spells and even how to 'record' successful spells.

Good luck!

hey i read some of your other questions and like i sed b4, im a practicing witch. i can tell ur not very experianced. being a witch is like any thing else. u need to start small and work your self up to the big stuff. you need the supplies and spells to "charge" them. otherwise they r just objects! lol one of the books i used wen i started witchcraft was called "mastering witchcraft" it tells you the basics and some spells. what is needed depends on wat it is your doing. very rarely do you find a spell wen u just have to say it. and many spells take time.

First, learn a lot more before working on spells, young one. You're nowhere near ready. Hang in there - it takes time, dedication and patience.
