Question:
Christians: Should you pray for Gaddafi and Bin Laden?

I live in the UK and go to a Christian school. We have services every Sunday and Tuesday. In the Sunday service, our vicar said that we should pray for Gaddafi to bring him strength after the loss of his son. Are you? In the Tuesday service he said we should pray for Bin Laden. What are you doing?

No point in praying for Bin Laden now. He's made his choice.

However, yes pray for Qaddafi. The apostle Paul was murdering Christians when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus. Pray for a Damascus experience that he will meet Jesus face to face and be able to change his life around.

I'm not particularly fond of my president, but the Bible tells us to pray for those in authority over us, so I do pray for him.

As a Christian, I understand that praying for the dead doesn't make sense biblically. There are other religions that "pray" to the dead but I do not because that is something that Christians normally do not do and there is the fact that he is no longer on the Earth which means he is now in the judgment of almighty God. Secondly, I have not prayed for Gaddaffi after the death of his son. Is it tragic? Yes. But my prayer isn't necessarily that he will feel better after the loss of his son. If anything my first prayer is that he surrenders to God. What I mean is, Gaddaffi is a brutal dictator, and just like all of us, we all need Christ in our lives. So far, Gaddaffi is choosing to live without Christ and as a result he is losing everything including his empire and family. He is suffering from a disease called sin. He wants to live for himself, and he feels he has no equal. I say this to say, I pray for his salvation first and foremost. Anything else, I leave in the hands of God.

Yes, you should pray for them. They are souls after all. Though I understand why this could sting. So many people lost their lives because of the Taliban. Many people of the belief system believe because you are a Christian you are an infidel and should be wipe out. The people in the Twin Towers and every soldier since lost their lives and many celebrated in the streets.

However as followers of Christ, we should love those that hate us. Because that is what Christ would do. Sometimes it is tough, but we can rise above. If you are praying for someones soul it becomes hard to hate them.

Yes, we should pray for them, but to tell the truth, Bin Laden is beyond prayers helping him in this world.

I fail to see the reason for dancing in the streets and celebrating because human beings were killed. The Christian attitude should be one of sorrow and sympathy.

Thanks for asking neighbor.

In the Bible Jesus does say to love your enemy's. If you love someone you are supposed to pray for them. So, no matter how hard it is I guess we better start praying. I guess I'm gona ask God to give them the chance to accept Jesus Christ and to give them the chance to realize what they have done to humanity and to truly repent. Then they have to go from there. Can't force them.

I think that prayer for Gadhafi should include a request that he come to his senses. As for praying for Bin Laden - I don't pray for dead people. That serves no purpose whatsoever.

TRUE Christians pray for everyone, including their enemies. Aren't too many of us TRUE Christians left, I suppose.

Forget Bin Laden. His prayers were answered.

If you want to put some divine energy in to the thing in Libya, PLEASE DO. But don't go wasting your prayers on Muʿammar al-Qaḏḏāfī's well being. While he's grieving the loss of his named-in-the-paper son, hundreds and hundreds of families are grieving the losses of the not-named family members that that guy MURDERED.

Yes, we should. I pray for them as I pray for everyone.

Christian school. I pity you. Though the fact that you don't have the phrase "Love thy enemy" pounded into your head by now probably means yours is much different than the 1 i went to.

You cant pray for someone dead. He had his time for repentance. Now its him and the Judge.

Why? They are/were both insane dictators and murderers. Prayer won't do anything anyway.

I should think so...

Will you do the best things for the best reasons?
