I'm an atheist, I'm not going to say why ,but I'd like to know why y'all are either atheist or god fearers? I'll give you two of my reasons.

"I went to church 10 years never once experienced any type of feeling he was real"

"I just don't see how god judges you of "believing" in him and doing good. He should judge you of your actions on earth and not believing. For example I'm an atheist I don't go around killing people, I help out, I volunteer at Susan g komen every year, I give to others, I treat others with care as I would like to be treated. You see where I'm going just cause I'm atheist doesn't mean I'm a devil satanic demon like y'all like to portray us."

So yea tell me why are you an atheist or god believer

"I went to church 10 years never once experienced any type of feeling he was real"

This is where you got it wrong my friend. Faith never was about feelings.

You probably grew up in some revival congregation that jumped up and down and proclaiming that they are on fire for the lord. This isnt faith but a feel good feeling.

True faith is understanding the wisdom and truth in God's word and following it.

Look deep within your soul and ask yourself ""Do I believe that rape is objectively wrong no matter where the act is committed in the universe"" and if your honest you will say YES RAPE IS WRONG no matter what . This is an objective moral truth, and most people (even atheists if they are honest) believe in objective moral truths then it couldnt have come about from us, and therefore there is an objective moral law giver that is transcendent of us.

You dont make it to heaven on works my friend cause in actuality no one is perfect without sin in this world unless you are perfect and never sinned at all. Because you are imperfect God who is perfect , sinless and all loving cant be around sinful and imperfect beings, it just doesnt match. He sent Christ to die in our place and take our sins , past , present and future upon himself. This is the only way God's perfect justice is satisfied.

Ask yourself why most atheists are deftly afraid of honestly researching the shroud of turin? There is a very good reason for this, and its because it makes atheists very very nervous about their worldview.

I have email corresponded with many atheists on yahoo answers about the shroud and all of them so far are afraid to research it and as soon as I start explaining the facts about it to them (I have studied it for 5 years) they run away never to email me back again lol.

Now that is good that you are going around helping people and volunteering, but now you have to be totally honest with yourself and ask yourself why the heck would you want to help anyone, since in your worldview we are nothing but pieces of meat that will one day fade out of existence. Why volunteering and giving in your worldview be any less objectively good or bad then murdering someone?

Since you know that volunteering and helping other is a GOOD act, then you allready recognize that there is an objective transcendent moral law giver thats allready planted these morals within you.

Without God your act of volunteering or murdering someone all comes out the same in the end.

Take me up on my challenge and start researching the shroud of turin, that is if your honest enough to find the truth that all of our hearts desire.

Lets see if you take up my challentge or chicken out like every atheist has so far on yahoo answers.

Artemis maybe you should also study the shroud, you could be wrong about not believing in the abrahamic God, and if teh shroud is authentic (and almost all teh evidence points to it being authentic), then you are definately wrong Artemis.

""i don't believe in a god because i have no reason to. pretty simple. ""

Coop that is a statement out of pure ignorance. There are many philsophical proofs for God, you simply are too intellectually lazy or honest to study them. In this day and age to remain an atheist is just out of pure ignorance.

I am a God believer. There are several reasons for this.

The major reason is because I see the universe and all within it as highly complex and ordered, and cannot imagine it to come about if there was no creator. In science they say that belief in God is the 'natural' thing in humans. When you are born, you tend to be more receptable to believing in God. Even, evolutionists such as richard dawkins agree to this. However, they say 'this is an evolutionary advantage as believing in God can help you take more risks (risks that can increase a population size) and be more altruistic during those times. Hence, people evolved with those characteirsitcs".

Another reason I believe in God is definately due to the environment I was raised in. My parents taught me to believe in God, and kept me in a 'God conscious environment'. If I was raised by parents who did not believe in God, then I might have been more likely to be atheist/agnostic. But there comes a point in every persons life where they ask 'why am I here?' 'what is my purpose?', and they realise the beauty of the world and it's design, and acknowledge within themselves that there is a Creator. They either rejoice that thought, or deny it.

Another reason I believe in God is due to the revelations sent down (such as the Old testament, new testament and qur'an).

Ive had many supernatural experiences. Most people make their religious position based on one religion and know almost nothing about any other. If you get rid of preconceived ideas and accept that your definition of god is most likely wrong. Then you can see a bigger picture. Im agnostic and I must say atheists are the most ignorant and narrow minded, don't get caught up in their bigotry. When you understand human being then you understand religion

I am atheist because I don't find any reason to belive in God that I consider hypothetical entity. It is fallacious to say that some entity like God manages the world. If so, who manages God or create Him. Moreover, if there were some conscious body running the universe, there could be periodic change in the way universe works. But we have never seen any change in management of universe since dawn of civilization.

I as born an atheist but it became established when at the age of 5 christians came to our home and tried to convert my parents to to their religion with threats of hell, the devil and satan if we did not. It put me off religion for life and I knew it was all lies.

I have dabbled with religion as an adult and it just reinforced my atheism.

I don't think you should rely on a book or books to determine your belief. Find the answer by speaking with people and drawing conclusions or just use your brain and think when you're alone like Einstein did. If it's impossible for complicated things like cars and computers to burst into existence then how is it possible for the world to do that? See that just doesn't make sense. Your definition of God is definition from mines. Like Tupac once said, "If you take one of the "O"'s from "Good" that's God, and if you add a "D" to "Evil" then that's the Devil....I believe that if you're good in your heart then you're closer to God and if you're evil then you're closer to the devil." So always keep an open mind and find out what makes sense and what don't.

Atheist. I did believe in God. However I came to understand that he hates me. I asked him to kill me, but as you can f*cking see I'm see, I'm still f*cking here! Anyway, then it hit me. God didn't kill me because he is not real. God doesn't hate me because he can't. My life is f*cked up because people are just genuinely horrible monsters. Why do they get away with their sh*t and still have good lives? Because there is NO GOD! If God is real then he is evil or doesn't care. When someone gets raped, God is there WATCHING it happen with the power to stop it. Yet the person gets raped. God is not real. There is no God. I wish there was, but there isn't.

please read the gospel to Thomas on the net. check out what a Deist is also. Religion is a fairy tale based on fear. I've studied religion for over 50 years and the more I study the more distant I get from it. was a "Bible Thumper" but grew up! if you are a caring honest person than you have nothing to prove to anyone.

I don't fear god. I don't believe in the abrahamic/biblical concept of god.

I believe in this god:

“God is not a being or an entity. God is the great positive force, the collective positive force of all that is. To call god an entity and especially to personify god is to limit the concept.” God is the Universal Consciousness, the Intelligent Infinity, the One Source, the Prime Creator. EVERYTHING IS GOD. God is All There Is. We are all part of god. All the universes combined are part of god.

I believe in god because I have read many credible accounts of people's past-life regressions, near-death experiences, channeled messages, mediums, etc. Such as this:

" For several decades increasing numbers of psychologists and psychotherapists have found that a host of human ills are treatable through past-life regression.

For example, clinical psychologist and noted past-life therapist Edith Fiore has found that many eating disorders appear to be connected to past-life causes. In one instance Fiore regressed a woman whose craving for salty foods had left her with dangerously high blood pressure and discovered that in a previous life the woman had been a native American boy who had starved to death when his tribe ran out of salt to cure their meat. Another man who had an uncontrollable craving for chocolate whenever the weather got cold discovered that he had been given a cup of hot chocolate in a past life after he had nearly frozen to death.

Fiore states: "I now find that almost all patients with chronic weight excess of ten pounds or more have had a lifetime in which they either starved to death or suffered food deprivation for long periods. I've met 'aborigines,' 'American Indians,' 'natives' of deep Africa and people from many countries who found themselves without food and often water. Starvation in past lives continues to affect the person in the present one, resulting in a compulsion to overeat. One woman patient who had a persistent fluid-retention problem—found herself, several lifetimes ago, dying from dehydration and starvation, as well as smallpox.

Eating disorders are not the only problems researchers have connected to past-life causes. Other ills that various past- life therapists have reported include alcoholism, cigarette smoking, and other drug addictions, allergies, arthritis, asthma, cancer, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, eye problems, fears, phobias, and obsessions, headaches and other body pains, hyperactivity and childhood autism, insomnia, multiple personalities, relationship problems and child abuse, sexual dysfunctions, stress, and nervousness.

Most exciting of all, past-life therapists from around the world report that in many cases the unearthing of the memories responsible for these disorders alleviates them. An incident encountered by Dr. Stanislav Grof, chief of psychiatric research at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center and assistant professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, provides a typical example. For years a patient Dr. Grof calls Norbert suffered from severe pains in his shoulder and pectoral muscles. Norbert, a psychologist and minister by profession, sought all manner of professional help, but after repeated medical examinations no source for his problem could be discovered. Finally, in desperation Norbert sought Dr. Grof's help.

Dr. Grof, a longtime researcher in the past-life phenomenon, decided to place Norbert in a state of past-life awareness. After being regressed, Norbert suddenly found himself in the midst of a military battle. From the uniforms the soldiers were wearing, Norbert was even able to identify the melee as one of the battles in Cromwell's England. Suddenly, as Norbert watched the flurry of soldiers around him, he felt a sharp pain and realized that his chest had been pierced by a lance. At last he had found the cause of his mysterious affliction and after regaining consciousness he discovered that his chronic shoulder pains had vanished."

It is a known fact that every language has one or more terms that are used in reference to God and sometimes to lesser deities. This is not the case with Allah. Allah is the personal name of the One true God. Nothing else can be called Allah. The term has no plural or gender. This shows its uniqueness when compared with the word "god," which can be made plural, as in "gods," or made feminine, as in "goddess." It is interesting to notice that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and a sister language of Arabic.

The One true God is a reflection of the unique concept that Islam associates with God. To a Muslim, Allah is the Almighty Creator and Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing, and nothing is comparable to Him. The Prophet Muhammad was asked by his contemporaries about Allah; the answer came directly from God Himself in the form of a short chapter of the Qur'an, which is considered to be the essence of the unity or the motto of monotheism. This is chapter 112, which reads:“ In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Say (O Muhammad), He is God, the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone”.

Some non-Muslims allege that God in Islam is a stern and cruel God who demands to be obeyed fully and is not loving and kind. Nothing could be farther from the truth than this allegation. It is enough to know that, with the exception of one, each of the 114 chapters of the Qur'an begins with the verse " In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate". In one of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we are told that “ God is more loving and kind than a mother to her dear child”.

On the other hand, God is also Just. Hence, evildoers and sinners must have their share of punishment, and the virtuous must have God's bounties and favors. Actually, God's attribute of Mercy has full manifestation in His attribute of Justice. People suffering throughout their lives for His sake should not receive similar treatment from their Lord as people who oppress and exploit others their whole lives. Expecting similar treatment for them would amount to negating the very belief in the accountability of man in the Hereafter and thereby negate all the incentives for a moral and virtuous life in this world. The following Qur'anic verses are very clear and straightforward in this respect.

Verily, for the Righteous are gardens of Delight, in the Presence of their Lord. Shall We then treat the people of Faith like the people of Sin? What is the matter with you? How judge you?

Islam rejects characterizing God in any human form or depicting Him as favoring certain individuals or nations on the basis of wealth, power or race. He created the human-beings as equals. They may distinguish themselves and get His favor through virtue and piety only.

The concepts that God rested on the seventh day of creation, that God wrestled with one of His soldiers, that God is an envious plotter against mankind, and that God is incarnate in any human being are considered blasphemy from the Islamic point of view.

The unique usage of Allah as a personal name of God is a reflection of Islam's emphasis on the purity of the belief in God that is the essence of the message of all God's messengers. Because of this, Islam considers associating any deity or personality with God as a deadly sin that God will never forgive, despite the fact that He may forgive all other sins.

The Creator must be of a different nature from the things created because if He is of the same nature as they are, He will be temporal and will therefore need a maker. It follows that nothing is like Him. If the maker is not temporal, then he must be eternal. But if he is eternal, he cannot be caused, and if nothing caused Him to come into existence, nothing outside Him causes Him to continue to exist, which means that he must be self-sufficient. And if He does not depend on anything for the continuance of His own existence, then this existence can have no end. The Creator is therefore eternal and everlasting: "He is the First and the Last".

He is Self-sufficient or Self-subsistent, or, to use a Qur'anic term, Al-Qayyum The Creator does not create only in the sense of bringing things into being, He. also preserves them and takes them out of existence and is the ultimate cause of whatever happens to them.

“ God is the Creator of everything. He is the guardian over everything. Unto Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth” (39:62-63).

“ No creature is there crawling on the earth, but its provision rests on God. He knows its lodging place and its repository” (11:16).

God's Attributes

If the Creator is Eternal and Everlasting, then His attributes must also be eternal and everlasting. He should not lose any of His attributes nor acquire new ones. If this is so, then his attributes are absolute. Can there be more than one Creator with such absolute attributes? Can there be, for example, two absolutely powerful Creators? A moment's thought shows that this is not feasible.

The Qur'an summarizes this argument in the following verses:“ God has not taken to Himself any son, nor is there any god with Him: for then each god would have taken of that which he created and some of them would have risen up over others” (23:91).

“ And why, were there gods in earth and heaven other than God, they (heaven and earth) would surely go to ruin” (21:22).

The Oneness of God

The Qur'an reminds us of the falsity of all alleged gods. To the worshippers of man-made objects it asks:“ Do you worship what you have carved yourself” (37:95). “ Or have you taken unto yourself others beside Him to be your protectors, even such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves” (13:16).

To the worshippers of heavenly bodies it cites the story of Abraham:“ When night outspread over him, he saw a star and said: This is my Lord. But when it set, he said: I love not the setters. When he saw the moon rising, he said: This is my Lord. But when it set, he said: If my Lord does not guide me, I shall surely be of the people gone astray. When he saw the sun rising, he said: This is my Lord; this is greater. But when it set, he said: O my people, surely I quit that which you associate, I have turned my face to Him who originated the heavens and the earth; a man of pure faith, I am not one of the idolators” (6:76-79).

So don’t trust me—trust Our Creator. Read the Quran, read books and study good websites. But whatever you do, get started, take it seriously, and Pray For Our Creator To Guide You.

Your Life May Not Depend On It, But Your Soul Most Definitely Does.

May the light of truth shine in your heart and mind. May it lead you to peace and certitude in this life and eternal bliss in here after.

Whenever you want to pursue the truth and verify anything you hear about Islam, I urge you to please use the only valid and divine source of Islam, Quran.

"O you who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in your devotion to God, bearing witness to the truth in all equity; and never let hatred of any-one lead you into the sin of deviating from justice. Be just: this is closest to being God-conscious. And remain conscious of God: verily, God is aware of all that you do." Qur'an 5:8

From everything that I found and I researched. Islam filled the missing pieces of not just Judaism, but it fixed the problems in Christianity as well. NOT ONLY DID ISLAM

AGREE WITH SCIENCE, BUT I FOUND THAT SCIENCE COULD NOT DISAGREE WITH ISLAM NOR COULD IT DISPROVE ISLAM. When I observed some of the great natural disasters, I had to acknowledge that the Masjids were the only buildings to be left standing.

Islam is a religion of peace and goodwill to all human beings, irrespective of color or ethnicity. It is a great privilege to be part of this way of life.

"I went to church 10 years never once experienced any type of feeling he was real"

Reality isn't determined by feelings. You know this in every other aspect of your life.

This is a total misunderstanding. God doesn't judge you and say "You are good enough. Go to that pearly gate." "You umm sorry. Head south." None of us is sinless. All of us eventually hurt ourselves and others (which is what sin is). Jesus lived perfectly. So that he can credit his life to us. If we accept it and want to live with him, he accepts us. If we don't, we die.

I don't think you are a devil satanic demon. I think you are a survivor of chilidhood religious abuse which left you confused and hurt.

Why I believe the Bible:

Proofs for the Bible:

The Bible has a remarkable internal cohesion in spite of being written over hundreds of years by people of various social classes, and even languages.

The prophecies in the Bible have come true. Including ones that have manuscripts that are older than the fulfillment of the prophecy. Daniel 2 predicts Western history to the present:

Daniel is an wiseman in training in the service of the king of Nebechadnezzer. Nebechadnezzer has a dream that he can't remember but it troubles him. Daniel prays, the dream is revealed and he tells it and the interpretation to the king:

31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. [Babylon]

39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. [Greece]

40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron [Rome had iron weapons which cut the brass swords of the Greeks in two]: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; [Post Roman Europe] but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, [God's kingdom at the end of history] and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Ezekial 26:1-14 God declares that Tyrus will be destroyed and never rebuilt.

vs 14 And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the Lord have spoken it, saith the Lord God. The Bible and Torah could be disproven by just rebuilding Tyre.

In Ezekial 28:21- 23predicts the trials of Sidon "23 For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord."

In Ezekial's day Tyre was the much stronger city than Sidon, yet Ezekial correctly predicted Sidon would be hurt, but Tyre would be utterly destroyed.

Isaiah 19, Ezekial 29 and 30 predict Egypt will be debased at a time when it was a world power. That prediction was not fulfilled until after the time of Christ, but Egypt has never been able to regain her glory.

Zecharaiah 9:5 5 Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

In AD 1270, it was destroyed by the Sultan Beibars. Since then it has not been inhabited.

None of the disciples changed or retracted their stories in spite of inhuman persecution. They probably weren’t lying. They spoke of high profile people (Pilot the governor, Joseph of Armethia the Supreme Court Justice, Nicodemus the Bishop) who were living when they told the story. So it was easily falsifiable. Yet no one stepped up to call them liars.

The Jews were a small band of people that lived in the area of Mesopotamia in the time of the Phoenicians, the Lydians, etc. Even the Babylonians have been absorbed or destroyed. Why do the Jews continue to survive and prosper with their culture intact in spite of almost universal hatred? As an amateur historian I would say that the Jews should have been wiped out before written history. However, as a Bible student I am not surprised. It was just as the Bible predicted it should be.

This same argument can be made for the survival of Christianity. The Christians were a very small band of an off shoot of a unpopular religion. They should have been wiped out by the Jews and / or the Romans within the lifetime of the apostles. Yet, just 300 years later, we find Constantine converting to keep his empire for splitting because there are too many Christians for the Roman army to subdue them.

Anthropology

Biblical cities not recorded in secular works have been found in the conditions the Bible predicts. One of the most obvious is Sodom and Gomorrah.

Personal Evidence:

What I know for sure is that God gives me peace beyond my imagination, and is slowly changing me from my bitter, violent past into a kinder, gentler person. I know that you don't give this kind of evidence much credibility, but in my experience it can't be denied.

Psychology:

The venom of the anti-religious is one of the best proofs of religion. Normally people don't fight against things they don't believe in with great passion. They do fight against things they know are true, that they can't deal with that way.

As far as being changed. The oldest manuscripts we have, The Dead Sea Scrolls seem to show it hasn't been changed significantly since 65 AD
