Suspended from catholic school for quoting the bible?

My English teacher was yelling at me and I told her she had no authority over me. When she yelled even more and called me disrespectful I quoted the bible.
"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. (1 Timothy 2:11-15 KJV)"

After that I got sent to the office and suspended. Wtf? I thought they followed bible teachings... Idiots.

The whole "interpretation" argument is bs. It is Yahweh talking directly, His word is sacred and Holy. You follow the 10 Commandments without hesitation, much like you should all of His word.

If you say I am using the quote out of context, provide the proper context. If you say that the bible has no authority in a school, it is a catholic school founded on catholic dogma. The only thing I can think of is that my principal is actually lead by satan, and not Yahweh. I will follow Yahweh's word to my death.

1. You were not suspended for quoting the Bible. You were suspended trying to use the Bible to justify your horrendous attitude and disrespect over an authority figure.

2. If your parents agree that you should not be taught by a female, they should transfer you to a school where there are only male teaches. Since they haven't done this and you have shown disrespect to the teacher your parents are willingly paying to educate you, you have committed the sin of dishonoring your father and mother. So much for following the Lord's word to your death.

3. The correct interpretation of the passage in question is that women should not teach MEN. Boys - that is, males who are not yet adults -- are a different matter entirely, and the Bible has no problem with women teaching children like you.

Your attitude is indeed disrespectful. Your teachers do indeed have authority over you. Are you saying that because she is a woman, your mother has no authority over you?

And those verses are indeed out of context. The Apostle Paul was making an administrative ruling or decision about some women who were being disruptive during worship services. His goal was to allow the services to proceed peacefull and uninterrupted. Naturally, these disruptive women had no business being in positions of authority.

So, read all the surrounding verses to understand the true meaning of scripture. You can't make scripture mean what you want it to.

First, women arn't second class citizens in the bible but they had certain cultures unlike today.. You should have respected your teacher.

(apostle paul is talking about roman-grecian households)

Paul’s demand for silence fits with what we know of women in Greco-Roman households. Sisters, single women and widows had a considerable degree of independence and relative authority. Wives, on the other hand, had married into a family and thus had a lower status. Given the hierarchical nature of Roman households, wives speaking publicly in worship would bring shame on the husband by upsetting proper household order and authority. On the other hand, widows or unmarried sisters would represent no such indiscretion.

I'm not in a roman-grecian household.

What Jesus did for women.

a) He socialized with them in public, something at the time considered highly taboo.

b) He regarded them as equal to men, even though society at the time considered them inferior.

c) Jesus defended women in the presence of men, such as the woman caught in adultery and St. Mary Magdalene.

d) Jesus did not marry, something extremely unusual among Jews at the time.

e) He loved, respected, and honored His mother, Mary. He also loved children, including female children.

Just to point it out, not everything in the bible should be interpreted literally. If we did, we would be killing people for ridiculous things (look at the quotes here: http://www.evilbible.com/Murder.htm). You have to take into consideration the culture in which you live. Since you live in America, we see teachers, even when female, to be in charge of their students.

Catholics firmly believe we must interpret and apply the Bible to our lives with consideration and prudence. If you believe that's a load of BS, you're welcome to leave the school; no one is forcing you. In fact, your parents might prefer, considering they are no doubt paying for it when they don't have to. But good luck discussing the Bible in public school. At least in a Catholic school you'd have the ability to debate it; you got suspended not for your beliefs but for your blatant disrespect.

So here we either have a troll or a moron. Either way, you'd be doing the gene pool a huge favour by conveniently killing yourself before you produce offspring.

You're not a man.

If you don't learn to shut the hell up, you may not live long enough.

It does not appear to be any great loss to the rest of us.

Let the women be silent in "Church" not the school.
