There are many reasons why different people join the military. Some might want tuition for college. Some believe that it's their duty as a citizen to defend their homeland. And some others have no trained skills and nowhere else to go.

I spent 16 months in Iraq, and saw first-hand the positive influence we have had on the Iraqi people by removing the tyran, Saddam, from power.

The Iraqi people now have a chance at freedom, and subsequently, are less likely to support acts of terror against the US in the future.

It is no secret that neighboring countries recruited from Iraq, there were WMD materials, and that Saddam tortured his own people for amusement.



The troops fight for your freedom- without them fighting "over there," you'd be facing the terrorists in America. Look up the terrorists "perfect day" scenario, in which they plotted to recreate the attack they perpetrated on the people of Beslan, in Russia. They want insurgent style war on American soil... but they are foiled by us fighting them on their streets instead... so you can post your half-baked nonsense.



I agree that there are illegal influences on our government, and that it acts outside the constraints of the Constitution, but the men and women who take the oath to protect and defend the Constitution don't always do so lightly. I'm sure some do, but by and large, they know they are putting their life on the line to help the future of our nation.

People join the military for college expenses, to do a greater good, etc. I am completely against war, but when you look at what some of them are thinking when they join the military, you can't help but to have a bit of respect for them.
