Actually, isn't the whole point Oprah was trying to make is that you follow your OWN path?

Somehow, I think her viewers can make up their own minds.

The doctrines Oprah is promoting are satanic, they come in the spirit of Antichrist.

Yes, this is so sad, because she is being deceived and leading others to hell. We need to pray for her so that she can repent and tell others.

I do not think she means to do that intentionally. Though when someone believes they are a god in themselves or believe they give themselves life instead of life coming from God, that is a false belief. False beliefs lead to disaster.

Many religions today including many false Christian ones are not based on anything but falsehoods. Misleading masses is hardly a new thing.

yes, that is very sad that people can follow a talk show host...

And for the first answer up there, that's not how Christianity started... Christ is real and He was prophesied from the beginning.

Because she's Oprah, unfortunately. And this is why millions will be led astray by her.

(oh well, nothing new. Christians have always slandered any competition. At least nowadays you're not being allowed to commit mass murder in your pursuit for a monopoly on "God".)

OK obviously we need to have a standard of what we believe to be "THE" truth here. And if we "all" that are answering this cannot come to that conclusion then it looks like this could turn into a mud-slinging match!

My point is that I am assuming the audience you are posing this question to be Bible-only- believing-Christians. That being said, we as Christians also know that those outside of this faith are considered "lost" to the true God (Jesus) and do not understand the truth of the one true God (Jesus). SO, I can understand why those of you are a bit angry not wanting to feel that "You too" maybe put in the same bracket as being in a cult.

SO I say this to you, what is Truth to you? IS truth having "any god" just as long as you believe in any-old-god? Or is truth what you decide truth to be based on your experience, feelings, wants or needs? I mean come on do we as mere humans get to decide who we want our god to be? Or maybe we can just be our own little gods? I don't know, I think that’s a tad bit confusing. Or is it, you believe in "just being" good will get me into heaven, I don't deserve hell so whoever god is and however he does his thing he surely won't send me to hell?

Hmmm that all sounds a bit risky to me. I want assurance. And yes I am sure most all religions have some sense of self-assurance with their view of their god/gods, but do they have 110% assurance? And if I say I have 110% assurance would you even believe me?

SO I challenge everyone to find the answer to these questions: is there but one God that created us? Or is their mass confusion and competition between several gods in this universe? If there is an assortment of gods are they kind and willing to just take us all in to heaven? How do they have that arranged? What’s the requirements? Or is your god not allowed to have a requirement upon us humans, because well just maybe he worships us? If there is one God would He be ok with us creating our own gods or serving fake gods? Should He be ok with it?

I use to be a die-hard new ager and I was just like the lady whom I pasted above.... I hated the fact that Christians just knew the so-called-truth and everyone else was just going to hell. I too didn't "get it". But I searched and dug, and studied for 9 months straight diligently, and as much as I wanted to not be a part of mainstream Christianity the conclusion I came to after totally seeking the truth was that Jesus Christ came to earth, was God in the flesh to show us God's WAY, God's TRUTH, and God's LIFE. Because we were all so confused about who God was. He straightened that all out. Then He dealt with our eternal damnation and paid our penalty, I mean come on folks you think God is gonna want us wrecking havoc in Heaven like we destroyed each other here on earth? He had to find someway to clean us up to have some company in His place of residence. Jesus took our punishment and as a perfect man God rewarded Him by saying, "whosoever believes in Him should have everlasting life!" God literally rewarded His Son and basically said, Son for what You did I will give the inheritance of your kingdom to those that follow after you. He has made a way for us to be purified and perfect so that when we die we can enter heaven and not taint it, without being made clean and pure we would just come in as ourselves, with all our lies, cheating, stealing, arguing etc, etc.

Here is the deal there is 2 different Spirits out there one THE HOLY SPIRIT which is from the one true God and there are all the rest of the spirits out there and the devil will use whatever religion, lie, cult, popularity, famous people, selfish ideas, whatever!! To trip you up and take as many with him as possible, he don't care.

SO (long answer sorry but its important) what is the way, the truth and the life of God?

I pray you find it before its too late. That includes Oprah or anyone else in this world without Jesus. Even Hell cries out for the lost on earth! Find Him before its too late!!!

The people that support this New Age religion obviously haven't thought about the impact it would have on our society. Teaching everyone that "there is no sin" is pretty dumb. Because if there's no sin then everything I do is right! Yay, no more talking it out with my co-workers shooting people isn't wrong. Thanks Oprah. Teaching people that they attract everything that happens to them aint too bright either, try teaching this to millions of people starving in India, Africa, Haiti etc. or the women whose 2yr old got rapped. Im sure they believe they just dont want the food bad enough or the baby wanted it. Dont forget the women on the video who stopped taking her medicine cause she was gonna believe her way out of it. Luke in the Bible WAS A DOCTOR!!! Only a cult would teach that WE are God, in that case why waist time defending the defenselessm, since they are Gods too they can defend themselves. When everyones right; no ones wrong. History shows someones always wrong.

sheesh! what an elitist you are! what you're saying is that any celebrity that starts a charity organization that doesn't tout Christianity is an evil "cult" misleading the misinformed masses. i don't understand you bigoted Christians. you'd think you'd be pleased when anyone anywhere is helping the poor and downtrodden but noooooo if it ain't you Christians doing it ... it's evil.

His books, "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth," are the same gobbledygook as most New Age stuff. They’re all about self-empowering and how to find out who we are. "Awakening" is Tolle’s key word. Tolle is very busy enforcing moments of silence and showing his readers how to find their "pain-body."

Nothing new there. And nothing new for Oprah, who’s now so wildly wealthy that she’s exceeded literally any famous person she might interview. Parade magazine puts her 2007 income at $260 million, the most of any celebrity and $150 million more than Steven Spielberg, the most successful filmmaker of all time. So what can she do besides anoint presidential candidates or start a religion?

Indeed, Winfrey already has flirted with several cult-like New Age deals. She’s enthusiastically embraced the Scientology celebrities like Tom Cruise and John Travolta. She’s even gone into business with Kirstie Alley, whom she’s planning to give a forum in her own talk show.

She’s also promoted televangelist Marianne Williamson’s kooky "Course of Miracles" and a book of New Age clichés by Australian Rhonda Byrne called "The Secret." (There’s a good piece on the latter at salon.com.)

Winfrey is nothing if not gifted at recognizing what’s already popular in the culture and exploiting it. But her association with Tolle is way over the top. It involves sponsorships with General Motors (Chevy), 3M Corp. (Post-Its) and Skype Internet phone service. In one broad stroke, she’s managed to accomplish what Scientology never has achieved: bringing corporate America’s implicit approval into religion.

What’s interesting is not so much Tolle, with his German accent and blank stare, proselytizing his nonsense. He talks a lot, literally, about looking at flowers and trees in a new way, much like Chauncey Gardner in "Being There."

It’s more about Oprah herself, free associating, selling out her own world as she gushes over those flowers and trees. For example, in seminar 1, she socks it to Hollywood, the source of 50 percent of her guests. This is the same Oprah who does a live special the day after the Oscars and often plugs the worst films just to get ratings.

Is Oprah Starting Her Own Cult?

I resent that comment about being a "bigot" because I find Oprah ridiculous! I wouldn't care if it was Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts or ANY other famous person who has the ability to cause people to change their thinking, when it comes to competing with God's OWN view of what is best and right for humans. Oprah makes me sick! She is her OWN God, and shame on her for not just keeping her self-imposed enlightenment and spiritual nonsense to herself, instead of leading other naive and gullible nitwits like herself astray.

She has a lot of power and a LOT of money. She knows the truth and has decided to follow another path and she has the power to lead a lot down that wrong path just because of her celebrity. The Bible says the blind will lead the blind and they will all fall into the ditch together. It is sad because I know she has been exposed to the truth.

Kelly,

She had a following for some time and has used it to lead people away from CHRIST. It is sad but many will follow a lie rather than the TRUTH because they are folowers of man rather then followers of GOD. Have a great weekend and a wonderful week.

1) they aren't making a new anything.

2) ACIM is not based on nothing or simply made up, its a new take on some very very old things that are very insightful.

3) what makes you so sure that the mid-early christians were not the false teachers? I am pretty sure that to atheists its all the same... and to non-Christians the ACIM stuff is actually pretty good.

try learning about it. ACIM is good stuff. even though I am not Christian I went to a ACIM reading group for a while a couple years ago, it was interesting.

IT STARTED ON HER RADIO SHOW, AT THE FIRST OF THIS

YEAR.

"Oprah and Friends" exposed millions to new age

christianity on XM Satellite Radio starting

January 1st

Oprah Winfrey let out all the stops on her XM

Satellite Radio program this coming year.

Beginning January 1, 2008, "Oprah & Friends" offered

a year-long course on the New Age teachings of A

Course in Miracles.

A lesson a day throughout the year will completely

cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles

"Workbook."

For example, Lesson #29 asks you to go through your

day affirming that "god is in everything I see."

Lesson #61 tells each person to repeat the affirmation

"I am the light of the world."

Lesson #70 teaches the student to say and believe "My

salvation comes from me." By the end of the year,

"Oprah & Friends" listeners will have completed all of

the lessons laid out in the Course in Miracles

Workbook.

Those who finish the Course will have a wholly

redefined spiritual mindset- a new age worldview that

includes the belief that there is no sin, no evil, no

devil, and that god is "in" everyone and everything.

A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink

everything they believe about God and life. The course

workbook bluntly states: "This is a course in mind

training" and is dedicated to "thought reversal."

Teaching A Course in Miracles will be Oprah's longtime

friend and special XM Satellite Radio reporter

Marianne Williamson-who also happens to be one of

today's premier new age leaders.

She and "Conversations with God" author Neale Donald

Walsch co-founded the American Renaissance Alliance in

1997, that later became the Global Renaissance

Alliance of New Age leaders, that changed its name

again in 2005 to the Peace Alliance.

This Peace Alliance seeks to usher in an era of global

peace founded on the principles of a new age/new

spirituality that they are now referring to as a

"civil rights movement for the soul."

They all agree that the principles of this new age/new

spirituality are clearly articulated in A Course in

Miracles-which is fast becoming the new age bible.

So what is A Course in Miracles and what does it

teach? A Course in Miracles is allegedly "new

revelation" from "jesus" to help humanity work through

these troubled times.

In Truth, this "jesus"-who bears no doctrinal

resemblance to the Bible's Jesus -began delivering his

channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University

Professor of Medical Psychology by the name of Helen

Schucman. One day Schucman heard an "inner voice"

stating, "This is a course in miracles. Please take

notes."

For seven years she diligently took spiritual

dictation from this inner voice that described himself

as "jesus."

A Course in Miracles was quietly published in 1975 by

the Foundation for Inner Peace. For many years "the

Course" was an underground cult classic for new age

seekers who studied "the Course" individually, with

friends, or in small study groups.

Here are some quotes from the "jesus" of A Course in

Miracles:

* "There is no sin. . . "

* A "slain Christ has no meaning."

* "The journey to the cross should be the last

'useless journey ."

* "Do not make the pathetic error of 'clinging to the

old rugged cross.'"

* "The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol...

It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement

for the many names of all the gods to which you pray."

* "god is in everything I see."

* "The recognition of god is the recognition of your self."

* "The oneness of the creator and the creation is your

wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power."

* "The Atonement is the final lesson he[man] need

learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned,

he has no need of salvation."

Most Christians recognize that these teachings are the

opposite of what the Bible teaches.

At this critical time in the history of the world, the

new gospel/new spirituality is coming right at the

world and the church with its new age teachings and

its new age peace plan. But this new age peace plan

has at its deceptive core the bottom-line teaching

from A Course in Miracles that "we are all one"

because god is "in" everyone and everything.

But the Bible is clear that we are not God (Ezekiel

28:2; Hosea 11:9). And per Galatians 3:26-28, our only

oneness is in Jesus Christ-not in ourselves as "God"

and "Christ."

What Oprah and Marianne Williamson and the world will

learn one day is that humanity's only real and lasting

peace is with the true Jesus Christ who is described

and quoted in the Holy Bible (Romans 5:1).

Oprah Winfrey's misplaced faith in Marianne Williamson

and the new age teachings of A Course in Miracles is a

sure sign of the times.

But an even surer sign of the times is that most

Christians are not taking heed to what is happening in

the world and in the church. We are not contending for

the faith as the Bible admonishes us to do (Jude 3).

It is time for all church pastors/leaders to address

the real issues of the day.
