i don't know about the consumption of bread having to do with your problem. i wouldn't even think of it as a problem, rather a speedbump. what i would suggest, instead of always looking at your hands for the trigger to begin your lucidity, is mix it up a bit. at first, in my case, i would check digital clocks. something about the digital numbers makes it hard for the mind to recreate, so they will apear always moving. the numbers changing and even forming letters at times. another method is to find a light switch and flip it, for some reason the change of light in your dream setting is also difficult to reproduce. other than that try acknowledging when something so bizzare happens it couldn't possibly be happening in the real world as we know it. oh yeah and check out the movie "WAKING LIFE". very third eye opening stuff. hope it helps

Wow this is a great question

I have experienced much in relation to my dreams. Lucid dreams are cool, but I have noticed that once I learnt how to tell if I was dreaming or not, after a while it was like some part of me was learning my behaviour and was tricking me in the dreams.

I have no explanation. Other than in the 'lucid state' our brain starts to relate to the other 'lucid states' and play along.

How do you 'force' lucid dreaming???

EDIT

I try moving objects with my mind in my dreams, if they move I become aware I am dreaming. (cause that stuff doesnt happen in real life)

Kind of the right category..... depends on what angle your getting at, the scientific or the supernatural. This category I would expect supernatural views on such things not scientific.

Hi Zitro,

There is no reason your hands can't look normal when lucid dreaming, a better test would see if you can make your fingers longer. Some sort of change to yourself or your surroundings that you normally couldn't effect.

Lucid dreaming is just a short skip and a jump from Astral, and in fact does use the astral plane.

With experience on the astral, nothing is beyond a competent travellers control besides the others who travel on that plane.

My easiest check is my clothing, I rarely wear street clothes when lucid dreaming or on the astral.

Hey man, I've had this before. Really weird stuff. In my dreams there was always some sort of barrier I had to get past. Once I was past it I was completly aware, without the worry of waking up, (unless I wanted to). Now this might be different in your dreams. But in mine I was able to discover that dreams are divided into two basic groups: Subconscious, and Semi-conscious. Semi is what you normally experience, you can see the dream, but you are unaware of it, and you believe everything you see as truth (for example, 2+2=fish). Sub, is that area in your mind that stores ALL information you've ever known in your entire life. If your mind crosses into your subconscious, you will experience total control in your mind. This could be what your experiencing. There is no real common demonator among dreams though. Some say they can fly, others say they simply are aware of their dream. In MY experiences I was in complete control, I could do anything and everything I wanted. But, something strange happened, I still can't quite discribe it. But, there was a force working in my dreams that didn't want me to have those abilities I had found. Like I said, wierd stuff. I haven't had one of those dreams in quite some time now. I can't really say I miss it. Just remember this, in the dreamworld things don't die, they are forgotten. Thats why you don't remember every dream you have --- although, you do have dreams every night. To forget something in a vision is as good as dieing. I can't say thats all I have on the subject, but its all I can really say. Good luck and pleasent dreams.

I've only ever acheived this by accident. What is your technique?

Well you just stumbled on a dangerous but exciting issue in majik, Dream studies, and sorcery. Being able to control your dreams. To actually look at your hands in a dream is quite advanced, so cudos to you! Next time try to see more, you hands again, maybe your arms or legs. Then try something difficult, like actually looking at your surroundings. People think they see whats going on in their dreams but they really dont pay attention to detail. Oh, by the way... you do know if you die in a dream you'll die in real life too. So be carefull of nightmares when your doing the extra perception. Good luck.
