Exodus 20:4- "you shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth ; you shall not bow down to them or serve them"

Leviticus 26:1 "you must not make no idols; you must set up neither carved image nor standing stone, set up no sculptured stone in your land , to prostrate yourselves in front of it; for it is i who am your God."

2 corinthians- 6:16 "The temple of God has no common ground with idols, and that is what we are- the temple of the living God."

2 corinthians 5:7- "We walk by faith, not by sight."

Ezikiel 7:20-"the Lord says this: Come back, renounce your idols and give up all your filthy practices."

Deuteronomy 4:25, 26- "if you act perversely, making a carved image in one shape or another, doing what displeases God and angers him, on that day i will call heaven and earth to witness against you... you shall be utterly destroyed."

No, it's really BAD -- that includes all those "good Christians" with their "angel on my shoulder" lapel pin and their "cross" jewelry. And, of course, it also includes the Catholic church and their "weeping Madonna" statues and "infant of Prague" talking statues.

What is a Image it is simply a object that represents something to the viewer.

YOU know that the letter A means A of AH

It is indeed a symbol. You have to be taught what it means or it is useless.

SO what your saying is The bible that is filled with letters that are all symbols for an abstract concept ,is a graven image.

Just as a statue that is a sermon in a picture is a graven image.

WHAT God was saying is this.

If you worship a book and cannot see past it for the glory of god right in front of you then you worship a graven image.

If you take that graven Image and take it litterally then you are breaking the first comandment.

But if you use them as tools to magnify your spiritual vision to see the holy spirit reveal his knowledge then your not an idoloter you are worhsiping God.

Fundementalists are in fact Idoloters.

Some Protestant sects, Jews and Muslims, probably consider the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions of Icons as wrong. As a former Catholic, I was brought up to think it's OK to have statues and paintings to help put you in mind of God and Jesus, or the saint you're asking to intercede for you, as long as you don't worship the icons themselves.

All faiths, religions, sects, denominations and cults are fundamentally the same, so if your faith says it's OK go with it.

the same God who said do not make any graven images also said of Moses to make a brazen serpent that if people would look unto it they would be saved from death from the poison of the flying serpents.

I like them. I have a cute little statue of the Virgin Mary ticky-tacked to the top of my computer monitor. Okay, so it was made in China, it's looks really cheap, and the paint job is especially awful, but I still kind of dig it. I don't "prostrate myself in front ot it," but rather, it's a nice reminder that VM is looking out for me... I hope.

Yes, I have the Satanic Baphomet and inverted crosses in my home and everyone seems to really like the way they look.

No, you should not make any one thing represent God, because then you tend to make that to BE God and pray with it. (Or to it)

God is not man-made because if he was, we would know all about Him and it would make him like Zeus.

But a reminder (Necklace, T-shirt, etc.) that God is constantly with you or a display of your faith is okay.

Yes, we know, just like the other Abrahamists, the Muslims, you take this passage to mean literally any image, etc, etc.

Feel free to have your sectarian arguments, just do not harm me or mine if it breaks down into violence again.
