Question:
Atheists, Have You Ever Even Read The Bible?
?
2013-04-03 01:34:08 UTC
Most Of You Kids Admit You've Never Read The Bible. But I Just Saw One Of You Claiming You Have. My Question Is How Is It Possible For You To Read The Bible And Still "CLAIM" To Be An Atheist? Do You Believe In God But Decided To Claim To Be An Atheist As An Act Of Rebellion? Are You On Here Just Trolling? Or What Is Your Excuse For Reading The Proof And Still Pretending Not To Believe? Please Keep Your Responses Kind And Courteous. Thanks. :)

Oh, yes, you're the idiot who Types Everything Like This Because Apparently He Thinks It Is Cool And Not Really Stupid, and you want to ask people about our excuses for not reading something? Is this irony or not?

.

There's a good chance that I have read the Bible more than the average believer. Cover to cover five times, and sections more than that. I read it once when I was a believer, and four more times since.

.

"How Is It Possible For You To Read The Bible And Still "CLAIM" To Be An Atheist?" Seriously? Actually, really reading the bible is what contributed to me *becoming* an atheist. How can *you* read it and still be a believer?

Atheists have ever you study the Bible? * some atheist have study the Bible, * yet another team have purely study verses or passages right here and there. * many others do not, "I wager the only reason you do not have self assurance interior the Bible is with the help of the fact have not even study the Bible. you purely heard the different atheists' perspectives. it is why you think of its a fairytale because you have not ever study the Bible." * it is genuine purely for the final team pronounced above, not for all atheists. * it is a generalization, and gebneralizations are (as a rule) incorrect. :) "First enable me be the to tell you that the Bible isn't a fairytale, the Bible is the genuine notice of God. in case you study you would be crammed with the spirit of God. study the Bible for yourselves and you will found out what you have self assurance is incorrect." * I consider you. The Bible is the notice of God and able to revela the certainty to everybody. Pray that the Spirit of God attain those nevertheless in atheism, yet paragraph like the 1st one are actually not good for this purpose.

When i was in a hotel i read a few pages in the bible because i was bored. It was awful. As for the bible being overwhelming evidence of gods existence all i see is a book with contradicting ideas that hates homosexuals and believes that if we get mould in our house we have to close all of the doors and windows in the house and if the mould increases we have to knock down the house.

I don't just claim to be an atheist i am one. Why would i be an atheist as an act of rebellion? That doesn't make any sense. As for me trolling I'm not but it seems like you are.

I've read the Bible. More than once. I fail to see how reading a book would disqualify one from being an atheist.

Why did I read it? I was religious once, and reading it was mandatory. However, the more I read, and the older I got, the less sense it made. Personally, I'm of the opinion that if everyone read the bible, we'd have a lot more atheists. I can't reconcile the notion of an all knowing, all powerful, all loving god that killed people for minor infractions (striking Uzzah dead for touching the ark of the covenant, when an ox carrying it stumbled, and he feared it would fall to the ground seems a little harsh), or ordered the deaths of innocent children (Jephthah burning his daughter alive as a sacrifice, because god demanded it), or was okay with rape (In Deuteronomy there's rules for how a raped woman must be married off to her attacker, and her father must be paid 50 pieces of silver in compensation).

How is the Bible proof of anything? The Bible is the source of the claims, not the proof that the claims are true. If the claim and the proof are the same thing, then that means it is a circular argument, and thus fallacious.

After I read a Spider Man comic, I did not believe Spider Man was a real person. After I read the Iliad, I did not think Apollo was real. Why should I, after reading the Bible, think that Yahweh is real?

Please Don't Type Like This, It Is Really Distracting To Read.

Anyway, to answer your question, I have not read the entire Bible. However, The Bible is a non peer-reviewed text, that nowhere discerns scientific theory or practice. Simply put, the Bible proves that God exists about as well as the Halo games prove Master Chief exists.

Though, I have read parts of the Bible, and I do plan to study the Hebrew over my next school break, simply because I like understanding the people around me, and why they think what they do.

Yes many times and almost every available, translated, Christian text too.

I have also studied the holy books and major texts of several other religions.

I have read the Avesta, but I am not a Zoroastrian, I have read the Rig Veda but I am not a Hindu, what is your point?

Just as you don`t believe in the gods of other religions I don`t believe in your god as well.

Cut out the capitals for every word you write it looks inane and it makes your text difficult to read.

Short answer: yes, cover to cover. Notice my name? My birthday is 13th december devout christians will know the meaning of that. I don't believe it because i simply don't believe everything i read. It is a really good story.

I read a lot of Goosebumps books as a kid and didn't believe them either. I did believe what i read in my high school physics text books. Because i could see, hear and feel the things that were in those books.

A Bible is a book. You don't have to believe in God to read a book. You don't have to believe in anything or everything you read

Nice troll

I read about half of the Bible when I was still a very firm christian.

I sttod up nights reading it.

I read up to Psalms.

My "excuse"

is that I realized that there are a bunch of books just like it.

i'm not an atheist, but nothing was more likely to make me one than reading the bible.

to quote a great comedian: "it reads like the ramblings of a drunk horse".

its a load of hateful offensive fascistic narcissistic bigoted idiotic superstitious guff. reading it should turn anyone away from christianity.

and although i don't get along with atheists, in my experience many of them know the bible better than most christians.

having read the bible is why we are who we are. and 99% of have read the bible unlike most christian dont read the bible. maybe a verse here and there but i promise you less than 1% of you christians have read the bible as a whole...verse by verse. cause if you did...you would be atheist too.

Can't tell if trolling or really stupid.

If Christians actually read their bibles instead of believing what preachers tell them about it instead, there would be a lot more atheists.

Of course I have read the Bible - must admit I skipped a load of the long lists. I went to a Church school. There is nothing in it that would lead me to suppose it is all true.

p.s. capitalising every word makes your post very hard to read
2013-04-03 01:37:22 UTC
First of all, I think there is something wrong with your keyboard and secondly I have read the bible numerous times and can not think how a Christian can continue being a Christian after they have read it, Its just wrong.

What do you think made them atheists? If there is a god of some sort, it ain't Bible God.
2013-04-03 01:36:16 UTC
I used to believe in your 'god'. I then thought long and hard, and then realized that it's highly illogical that such being exists. I did read your bible, I did practice your rituals, and I followed your cult, I then left.

Yes, I've read the bable.

Why do you capitalize every word? Sheeeesh

Anyway, if I thought the bable was proof of gawd, my azz would be in church! Think about it

My only response is that capital letters are for the beginning of sentences and proper nouns.
