Is it real that a spirit can possess a body for example after playing the ouija or is it a mental state?

No, it is not real. The Ouija board is just a piece of wood. But - the fact that people have had problems after playing with this toy is testament to its danger.



If a person really does believe that they can contact 'spirits' via a Ouija board, then there is little limit to what else they will believe, or do under certain circumstance. The human mind has extraordinary capacities for deluding itself, as stage hypnotists will ably demonstrate. The people who have acted 'strangely' after mucking about with Ouija boards have effectively hypnotized themselves, by putting their minds at mercy of the concept of the Ouija board just as the audience put their minds at mercy of the stage hypnotist.

Rationalists contend that users subconsciously direct the path of the triangle to produce a word that is in that person's subconscious thought process. This subconscious behavior is known as ideomotor action, a term coined by William Carpenter in 1882. The participants were then blindfolded and the board was turned 180 degrees without their knowledge. With continued questioning, the planchette then traveled to bare areas of the board where the participants believed the "Yes" and "No" marks were located, but in fact were not.

I do believe that Satan uses Witchcraft. Horoscopes, Voodoo and other Pagan influences to pull people away from God by allowing them to believe in the powers of those influences. Satan has powers too be aware of that.



I have never been possessed however, I have been influenced but keep in mind that when one belongs to Jesus Christ, he is possessed by the Holy Spirit.
