I still prefer Fido on the bed on a cold night. And the big, black drooling dog with a studded spike collar and a bellowing voice generally is much better at scaring trespassers off than something waddling around going gobble, gobble. Although, I've got wild turkeys in my woods, and they can be mean buggers, especially when they are guarding their nests/young.

I've raised turkeys and found that tame turkeys aren't as good of a watchdog as wild ones who are extreemely alert. I'm surrounded by wild turkeys and they hear everything! On the other subject, I just recently watched a special on dogs that claims it wasn't the wolf that dogs came from but a common ancestor through evolution. One became wolves and the other dogs. I'm sure a primitive turkey was on their menu.
