Well, I'm agnostic and I don't believe in God because I don't see any way he could be real. Nothing most religions say make sense to me, especially since there is no real solid evidence of a God. I hear people say they were "touched by God", but that's not enough for me. Unless this God comes down and slaps me in the face then I'm solid agnostic. That's not to say that I'll preach science and crap and try to change people's beliefs, I just can say that I've never had a Godly experience first hand and I've never heard of any "real" experience.

And you can't tell me to read a bible, either, since I already have read it as a child and I just think it's a collection of morals to teach children that was not to be taken literally. That's just what I think, and that's what I probably will think unless I get more evidence.

If somehow there is a God, then according to Christianity (what most of my family is), it shouldn't matter if I believe in Him or not, I'll be sent to heaven if I'm good and hell if I'm bad.

In truth, it's a very rational thing not to believe in God. As human beings we learn about the world around us through our senses. Our education is based on factual information, who, what, where and how. From early childhood we are encouraged to be sensible and realistic, to know the difference between imagination, bad dreams, fantasy and reality. People who can't tell the difference are thought of as insane and considered abnormal. Every day we are surrounded by technology which has been the result of a logical progression of scientific endeavour. The reality of a God can not be explained by science. It can not be rationally explained and for most will never be experienced. We can not imagine or understand something that is everywhere all at the same time, eternal, never born and never dying.

In fact you'd have to be mad to believe in the existence of God. The fact that humans have always believed in God, in one form or the other, tells us that something unexplainable, beyond rational is going on. Religions started with and have been sustained by people encountering this unfathomable phenomena.

What proof is there besides faith. Faith is something you either have or dont have. Most people that believe in him need something to believe in to justify there own lives. now it could explain more but it would be to deep for this group. And we can prove that all things including man have evolved. [to a point we can prove man evolved we have yet to find a missing link] Until we die or he comes to earth there will be no answer. And someone is only wrong if it is different than what the person that thinks there wrong believes. There is no proven answer there for you can not say either side is wrong. And to all you christians remember christ teaches let he has not sinned cast the first stone. there for if you judge you are going to be judged

I believe that there are some very valid and legitimate reasons for not believing in God. The questions I have heard raised by atheists make sense, like the question of why, assuming god is all-knowing (so he/she is aware of suffering), all-good (and someone good would prevent suffering), and all powerful (God has the ability to do whatever he/she wants) there would still be suffering in the world. It's a very logical question.

That said, I also believe there are many valid reasons to believe in God.

The question I then pose for you is, why is the idea that people don't believe in God so insane to you?

Not that you really care but people do not believe in your brand of superstition because Neo-Darwinism make predictions, and those predictions are confirmed with every archaeological discovery. All life on Earth is derived from common ancestors, and finding organisms without DNA would disprove that. Yet all lifeforms on Earth have DNA. All life on Earth is hierarchical, and both the morphological and molecular hierarchies converge. Our discovery of transitional forms follow this hierarchy : we have plenty of transitions between reptiles and birds and reptiles and mammals. We can even explain why vestigial organs exist in a given species, by looking at the past of its genome. If whales were fishes instead of mammals, it would be rather bad for Darwinism. Or to take a previous example, we should not find mammals with vestigial feathers. There are millions of ways by which Neo-Darwinism could be falsified, and yet all the data we find confirm its obvious truth.rd to explain why they have vestigial legs. Indeed, those vestigial legs could be called the "smoking gun" of Neo-Darwinism

and..

I'm sorry ...which god hypothesis where you eluding too.....with thousands of hypothetical's to currently choose from and thousands of ancient hypothetical gods to choose from I have literally hundreds of thousands to choose from....and since I can make up any gods I want and start telling you to believe them I actually have an unlimited supply of gods to choose from....including some favorites.....ganesh, zues, the unicorn king, the easter rabbit, thor, Athena ,pan, the goblin king, Horus, krishna, buddah, allah, santa , the tooth fairy or the ONE TRUE GOD OSIRIS

As a veteran I don't know many people from my military past that doesn't believe in one form of God or another. Too many unexplainable things happen in combat to not believe. And I personally know that the ones that cried out for God the loudest in the closing moments of their lives were atheists when they first got on the battle field. We who believe are free to think for ourselves. It comes with the gift of free will that was granted us. Including the freedom to NOT believe in Him. But it is my experience that when faced with the end of your life most will cling to a God because the alternative is oblivion.

How could someone believe in a god?

That's insane!!

Despite all evidence, all proof to the contrary, and also the fact that if your parents hadn't ever told you there was a god, the thought probably would never have crossed your mind.
anonymous

It's not insane. It's their personal belief.

I could also ask you how you could believe that a virgin got pregnant by God.

Or how you trust in the wisdom of a man who thought spirits were talking to him through burning foliage.

Or how you believe that if a man who rapes and kills 30 women and then feels 'sorry' for it and repents to God, he suddenly has a free ticket into Heaven.

If you're going to ask ignorant questions, I'm going to give you ignorant answers.

Sometimes it's just faith. Let them be.

There are better explanations for the things you describe than an invisible sky daddy. Do you believe in leprechauns?

If not, why not?

That's the reason I don't believe in God.

Because we are logical people. We look at evidence and nothing supports the existence of such a being. All religion comes down to is faith, there are no facts to it.

You know how you feel when you were in class and you learned about all those gods and mythological stories that ancient people used to believe in? The reason that you don't think those gods are real is the same reason that I do not think Jesus Christ is real.

It is illogical for an eternal God to exist because relative to this point in time he must have existed at a point of time an infinite amount of time ago and thus, because an infinite amount of time cannot be traversed, an eternal God cannot exist.

How could someone not believe in god? Research other religions, maybe then you'll see. Maybe some people (like me) don't like the idea of an omnipowerful nameless ruler.
Higgs Boson

Of course it is honey. Just like you believing in some mythical sky creature who loves you, watches you, has plans for you, and will make the rest of us suffer for all eternity because we chose to be rational instead of delusional.

Because the more intelligent people become, the more they think God is fiction. If you research it, you'll find that the higher the IQ the less one is to believe in God.
