Somewhere between Jesus dying on the Cross and a giant bunny hiding eggs there seems to be a very large gap of information. Could somebody fill me in?

It used to be a pagan festival that celebrated fertility. Thus the bunny that hands out eggs.

However the Church took it over so that people could party for Jesus' death instead and therefore want to be christian.

They have nothing to do with each other. The remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus far outweighs old pagan rituals. Handing out candy or eating an egg is something you might want to do for fun but the two are not connected in any way nor does it have the same meaning that pagans gave it.

Don't you find it ironic that Jesus has much more significance on this day? Any day that Jesus is remembered makes everything else insignificant. And that's the way it always will be.

Simple!

In that time of the year, Paganism celebrates life in all its expressions (plants, animals, humans, etc), eggs are a good representation of life; the bunny represents the moon as for the moon has always been invoked for agriculture purposes.

In the same time of year, Christians decided to set another of their holidays that would diminish the Pagan one.

But hey! it is a lot more fun to go around chasing a happy bunny that brings goodies, than to be all gloomy with remorse about an assassination that supposedly is all our fault....don't ya think?

The Easter Bunny is a symbol of fertility, since hares and rabbits have frequent multiple births. The custom of an Easter egg hunt began because children believed that hares laid eggs in the grass. The Romans believed that "All life comes from an egg", and Christians consider eggs to be "the seed of life", which was considered symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ (although Jesus is only a myth).

Eostre was a Teutonic goddess of spring. Her legend says she changed a bird into a rabbit to amuse some children.

Pagan holidays were appropriated by the church in an attempt to convert people to Christianity. This one still has a pagan name. Easter is named for Eostre.

Bunnies and painted eggs come from ancient Egypt, from their springtime holiday to honor Osiris, who returned from the dead.

Spring and fertility have a long correlation as well. Bunnies and eggs are both symbols of fertility.

A lot of Christian holidays have pagan roots of one sort or another.

It's the other way around, sweetheart. It went from bunnies and eggs to the resurrection.

Easter is originally a pagan fertility holiday.

I have read many of your questions and I have decided to answer you once. I don't get the sense that your questions are actually question but, rather they may be rants against Christ.

I don't think you see it that way though and that is why I am going to take the time to help you understand the nature of your actions. If your argument is against the people that falsely claim to be christians you might consider framing your arguments in that manner. However, if your argument is against Christ maybe you should take it to him privately. The actions of this world condoned and blessed by this world’s religions have nothing to do with Christ. They have everything to with the ruler of this world. Your attitude in the form of questions also serves that same ruler. I do not know if you understand that.

Christ wants you to have all knowledge, love, life, understanding, and grace. He accomplishes this by giving you his promise of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to give you all that God wanted for you originally and know is ours through the grace of Christ to the Glory of God the Father. All he needs is for you to seek him earnestly. Just that first step in his direction and he will rush to you like you are the only soul on this earth. As you make room for him in your soul he will provide you with a comfort, hope, love, and a natural understanding of all things.

May the peace of God that excels all thought be with you.

Easter was originally pagan. But the Catholics changed it in an attempt to get pagans to convert.

One of Christianity's many attempts to bring pagans into its folds.

Just like Christmas is celebrated on a pagan holiday and the church used to sanction Halloween.

Jesus was a necrophiliac with a bunny fetish.
