Many people claim that Jesus isn't God because He said He was the Son of God. Either way wouldn't that make you equal with God?

One of the New Testament writers' claims was that Jesus is a descendant of King David, and so has the right to be a king as would have been expected of the awaited legendary Messiah, and worthy of the title "Son of God". "Son of God" is a title applied to the real king of Israel: 2 Samuel 7:14, "I will be his (David's) father, and he shall be my son".

Yep! It takes some folks an awful long time to figure that out. And yet it is so simple. All sons have the same nature of their parents. And Jesus is no exception since Jesus did have Mary and God as His parents. Apparently it would just crush someones world if it ever dawned upon them that Jesus is coequal to His Father in nature despite the fact His equally real human nature makes Jesus inferior to His Father. Some folks just can't see beyond the obvious human nature of Jesus.

no a son of God is anyone that follows after the spirit of God. We are all suppose to be sons of God. But this world walks in the flesh with a carnal mind and do not know what it is to be a son of God for they do not seek the face of God. If you want to be a son of God you have to seek the face of God and ask to understand his ways, he will teach you to follow him and when you learn his ways, you are perfect and holy and in the spirit which guides you and by the spirit you no longer give into the desires of the flesh. That is a son of God.

John 5:18

Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

Yes.

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’

Exodus 3:14

For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 8:57-58

I and My Father are one.” ~ John 10:30 (Jesus speaking to the Jews)

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. ~ John 14:1

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” ~ John 14:7

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:5-8

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:7-8

In Isaiah 9:6 t says...

King James Version (KJV)

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

So the SON"JESUS" is the FATHER and GOD.

No

Jesus didn't think he was equal

John 14:28

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I

(Applecake gave you other scriptures to support that also)

Satan is called a God is he equal?

Angels are called sons of God-are they all equal with God? In Job the "sons of God" are represented as appearing before the throne of Yahweh/Jehovah in heaven, ready to do Him service, and as shouting for joy at the creation of the earth, In the Psalms they are summoned to celebrate the glory of God, for there is none among them to be compared to Him.

Mankind at times are called sons of God--are they equal to God too?

There is only one Almighty God. The Lord God (the Almighty) is one. How many times do we have to be told that?

i'm no longer a Trinitarian, yet i do not imagine this actual verse is confusing to interpret. for my section Jesus isn't retaining that Jesus isn't God. he's retaining that the daddy is the purely actual God. So, if the daddy is the purely actual God, what does that go away Jesus? in case you look somewhat better in this same financial ruin of John you be conscious that Jesus says many times that God the daddy and Jesus are One. the daddy is the purely actual God, yet Jesus consists of himself contained in the daddy, because the daddy is in Jesus, and Jesus is contained in the daddy. If the daddy and the Son are one, then both one of them are contained in the godhead. both the daddy and the Son are the only actual God. in this prayer Jesus shows his deference to His Father. This verse could be taken in context with all some thing of the Bible, which era after time shows Jesus to be God, and shows Jesus claiming to be the God of the former testomony. you could not purely take one or 2 verses out of context to base your theology on. Sorry, i'm effective you probably did not favor to hearken to that. Edit. definite, for sure, the daddy and the Son are purely figuratively one. they are not a similar human being. yet figuratively is likewise the way you ought to take John 17:a million-3 once you study that purely the daddy is God. Jesus knew he become also God, as he said on different occassions, yet figuratively purely the daddy is God because figuratively the daddy and Son are one, with the daddy contained in the presiding position. they're one in purpose, perfection, Godly attributes, awareness, goodness, and one yet another characteristic except a similar human being and a similar position contained in the Godhead. "case in point, Jesus said to the daddy in John 17:22, "the consideration which thou hast given me I easily have given to them; that they could be one, purely as we are ONE." - NASB" you'll be conscious that the verb stressful right it really is destiny, that they could be one, purely as we are ONE. it really is proper, Jesus become praying that those disciples may ultimately change into ONE with God, and change into gods themselves. i imagine you want to improve your horizons right here.

yet He didnt consider Himself equal He took on the life of a "commoner" and accepted the death of a criminal. He committed everything to the Father including us in His dying sentence. Humility and love are two of His key qualities and thats why He doesnt want us to be hoity toity and claim to be saved and others not like us unsaved. He loves everyone and wishes everybody to be saved. So in my way of looking at things dont condemn "the unsaved" just pray for them and yourselves. Never assume equality and salvation from a God you claim you know.

That's the whole point. The Son of God IS God.

Well ask Jesus about his Father, his answer is the best.:

John 14:28

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

John 20:17

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Revelation 3:12

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 21:2

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Ask the apostles:

Ephesians 1

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

No, if I were to send my son (or any one I choose) out to represent me in my business, I may give him all the power he needs and expect people to see him and obey him as they do me, but it doesn't mean he is me. I'm still the head of him and others as he is to them.

Peace,

That is because he is neither God 'nor' son of god...He was merely a messenger as was Moses, Muhammad, Jeremiah, Abraham (peace upon them all)

Yes. That is why he didn't rebuke those who called him that.
