My moms sister came to our house yesterday and she was talking about the church she has started going to. She said the preacher told them that rock music was the work of the devil but country was ok. My aunt is actually going along with this and told my mom I shouldn't be listening to it. I wish I was there when she said that. Both me and my mom believe in God we do not attend church but we are still spiritual people. Country is just as worst they sing about drinking and sleeping around. Rock music does not persuade me into doing anything it actually helps me when I'm down. Better than turning me into a zombie from anti-depressants. I sure hope all churches aren't like this, if so I know I will never be a member of one

I believe that if I play enough gospel music backwards and at different speeds, I'll eventually find "demonic messages". This argument just isn't valid.

If it is, I'm on the highway to hell! (Heh. Couldn't resist that joke.) The radio station I listen to the most is the classic rock station! I don't care for AC/DC or Metallica or Black Sabbath (except I get enjoyment out of Iron Man...dunno why that is), but I certainly turn up the radio when a Zeppelin or David Bowie tune starts. Some of it is crap, some of it is less crap, and some of it isn't crap at all. You just have to decide what you are cool with.

If you listen to the lyrics on most (not all) rock music you will find that the majority of it is based on what was happening politically in whatever era ie 60's 70's 80's etc.Its screamed at you so maybe there is a chance you'll actually hear what they have to say, unfortunately most people like the beat and the words are just mimed to and never really understood by all.

No. Not really. My dad always jokes around that techno/electronic music is devil music.

On a more serious note, don't ask yourself "What's wrong with rock music?" but rather "How does this music edify my spirit or glorify God?" For sure, listening to classical music may not glorify God, per se, either. But if what you do cannot be done with a clear conscience, then don't do it. I know that's very generic, but try to hear its "deeper" meaning.

In the words of Larry Norman (known by many as the father of Contemporary Christian music) "Why should the Devil have all the good music?"

Personally I prefer music that will uplift my spirit. I listen to KLOVE radio because it does have good Christian music....some of it even rocks.

Personally,I do not view the grouping of chords, tempo, time signature, beat, meter or melody to be inherently evil...As a Christian drummer/percussionist however,I understand that "feeding" on many of the secular offerings,in the genres of rock & roll, punk, hardcore, metal and even country music (barf) is contraindicated spiritually...I personally believe both the composers "intent" and the spiritual nature of the "Poetry" are the key factors in determining wheather or not,any genre of musical composition is appropriate to continually "feed" on...What we choose to listen to and what we choose to view, will affect us spiritually,to some degree in time..

hmmm Sepultura...They seem like nice Christian boys...Think I'll buy their entire anthology..lol

EDIT...Yikes...Just kidding on the Barf Barb(country music)...I do like a few offerings from the Country/Western group..hmm..Literally 2 only,I think...loll

Well, unless ((((Faith)))) is performing...Great singer and bass guitar player..

Yes, but so is aichy breaky heart cry in your beer country music. ANY music that is fantasy is a lie. It will corrupt your soul. You will learn to love a lie.

I use to play in rock and roll bands. I don't even listen to the devil music anymore. I preach in front of concerts. I tell them people they are idolaters.

The news that rock music is "Devil music" must be a surprise to the thousands of self-identified "Christian rock" bands out there.

Still, other Christians have been claiming that for about as long as rock music has existed. In fact, BEFORE rock music, they were saying the same thing about blues. And even centuries before that, they were saying the same the same thing about composers like Bach and anybody else who used minor keys.

In general, if there's something new and exotic that young people gravitate to, then holy rollers raise a fuss over it. This is especially true if it's the least bit melancholy or macabre. Zealots would like the Bible to have a monopoly on people's outlet for emotional inspiration. They hate competition.

You need Jesus

You need Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit.

You are clueless right now.

Seek and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free of depression etc.

Seek Jesus and ask Him to come and reveal himself to you if he is God and HE WILL!

He did it to me.

I love Jesus forever - accept no lying destructive substitute for Him and His Love and SPirit

Most of non-gospel lyrics are sinful. Not all, but most. I prefer to not listen to most of them.
