Question:
Don't you think that the concept of the trinity makes no sense ?

I have a Christian friend, we was knowing each other since both of us in kindergarten, but now she is at Seattle and I still in my home country, Indonesia.
The last time i met her was 6 years ago but we still have good-related till this second.
Once upon, she told me about her Christian tenets doubt.
She frequently get some pastors visited her school, and she does a confession, 'sin confession' she calls it.
Once she asked to the pastors, 'I really dont understand about the concept of the Trinity. Can you explain it?' But the pastors replied 'Just Believe it'. They dont provide the answer,

If she asks about the Trinity, they always replied 'your father and mother loved each other, when they have children, it's like three in one with a different identity'. So, given a lot of analogies to explain how Jesus could be God and a son of God and be himself. She thought many Christians who accept this concept without understanding,

And then she asked the Trinity to a few friends, including me, as a Muslim I cant answer, and finally she got a reply from her another friend who's certainly Christian, As her friend explaining, she gets a conclusion that concept of the Trinity exists and is set as a basic belief in Christianity after Jesus death. An answer that surprised her, because it means that all the basic in Christianity is a human creation. Jesus in his lifetime never said he was the son of God and never said he was God.

She first read the Gospel and the Gospel Mathias was not referenced Jesus as son of God, but the son of a human. But the Gospel was written after Jesus died, many mentioned that Jesus is the Son of God. And mentioned that there are political reasons behind the argument concept of the Trinity,

She also discovered that Jesus prayed and asked God for help. If Jesus still asking for help to God, Soooo, how could Jesus be God. It doesn't make sense to her.

As a christian...

your RIGHT! it makes no sense!

but try this:

picture a red square, triangle, and circle.....now say 'red = God'......now, which one is God/Red?

A: they all are...all three are equally deserving of the description God/Red...but at the same time, the circle isn't the triangle and the square isn't the circle....they are three individual shapes/persons, but they are all the same as each other in that they are 'red/God'

did that help...even a little...?

but your right... the concept of the trinity makes little if any sense.

Liquid, Steam, Ice - 3 = 1 (Water)

Past, Present, Future - 3 = 1 (Time)

The Bible teaches that God is one in essence, three in Person: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19). Each is fully God. God is not three gods but three in one.

Keep in mind when studying this subject that the word “Trinity” is not found in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God—three coexistent, co-eternal Persons who make up God. Of real importance is that the concept represented by the word “Trinity” does exist in Scripture. The following is what God’s Word says about the Trinity:

1) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5).

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun “us” are plural forms, definitely referring in the Hebrew language to more than two.

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus' baptism. Seen in this passage is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are examples of three distinct Persons in the Trinity.

3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages. In the Old Testament, “LORD” is distinguished from “Lord” (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity—the Father.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2). The Son is God (John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20). The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16).

5) There is subordination within the Trinity. Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship and does not deny the deity of any Person of the Trinity. This is simply an area which our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see Luke 22:42, John 5:36, John 20:21, and 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7, and especially John 16:13-14.

6) The individual members of the Trinity have different tasks.

FATHER: is the ultimate source or cause of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11); divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); salvation (John 3:16-17); and Jesus' human works (John 5:17; 14:10). The Father initiates all of these things.

SON: is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17); divine revelation (John 1:1, 16:12-15; Matthew 11:27; Revelation 1:1); and salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19; Matthew 1:21; John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.

HOLY SPIRIT: is the means by whom the Father does the following works: creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30); divine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21); salvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2); and Jesus' works (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38). Thus, the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

No I do not , Non-believers & Muslims often state that the Trinity doctrine lacks both common sense and logic. Additionally, they sometimes accuse the Christians of being polytheists by saying that the Trinity teaches three gods. Other times they state that it is illogical for three gods to be one god and for that reason, the Trinity can't be true. Their objections need to be addressed. But, before we do, we need to understand what the Trinity is and what it is not.

The doctrine of the Trinity is this: there is one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is not the same as the other person; that is, the Father is not the same person as the Son who is not the same person as the Holy Spirit. But, each is fully divine in nature. Each person is not a god which would make three gods. Instead, the totality of all three persons comprises the one God. Again, the Trinity does not teach that there are three gods. The Trinity is monotheistic since it is the doctrine that only one God exists in all space and time. Christians believe there are no partners with God because we believe there is only one God in all existence.

At first, some may look at this teaching and be confused by it. How can God be three persons in one God? This is a good question because it is a bit difficult to grasp. But that is what we would expect, isn't it, when we encounter God? Would we not expect to find some things about God's infinite nature a bit beyond our comprehension? This is not unreasonable. However, we must not make the mistake of saying something as ridiculous as, "It doesn't make sense. Therefore it is true."

Following is a brief chart that helps clarify how the doctrine of the Trinity is arrived at through the Bible.

There is no rule that God, the Creator, has to be simple enough for our puny minds to fully understand who He (or She) is.

The doctrine of the Holy Trinity states there is one true God who is made up of three separate but equal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible does not contain the word Trinity. However, the Holy Trinity is hinted at repeatedly in both the Old and New Testaments. For many biblical references, see: http://www.cwo.com/~pentrack/catholic/Trinity.txt

Under the influence of the Holy Spirit, the early Christians prayed and struggled over these hints for a couple of centuries. The concept of the Holy Trinity (three equal persons in one God) was mainstream Christianity in 325 C.E. at the Council of Nicaea and our belief is expressed in the Nicene Creed.

How this works is not fully known and is one the Christian mysteries.

The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is shared by most Christian denominations including Roman and Orthodox Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Episcopalians, and the Salvation Army.

There is a story told about St Augustine:

Augustine was walking along the seashore trying to figure out the mystery of the Holy Trinity and came up to a little boy. The boy was trying to pour the ocean into a hole in the sand with a seashell. Augustine told the boy what he was doing was impossible. Then the little boy told Augustine that it is also impossible for the mind of man to try to understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity. The little boy turned into an angel and disappeared.

For more information, see Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 232 and following.

The major non-Trinitarian churches are Christadelphianism, Christian Science, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arian Catholicism, Unitarianism, Nontrinitarianism, and Oneness Pentecostals.

Worldly illustration: The US government is one government existing in 3 branches the judicial, legistrative, executive branches. (1 government = 1 judicial branch,+ 1 legistrative branch + 1 executive. The judicial branch is not the legistrative branch, The legistrative branch is not the executive branch…the executive branch is not the judicial branch.

Note: The US government is a trinity in a sense ....a triune government. I government made of 3 branches…They don’t refer to it as trinity government but it is..

What is the executive: May veto laws,May refuse to spend money allocated for certain purposes Wages war (has operational command of the military),Makes decrees or declarations (for example, declaring a state of emergency) and promulgates lawful regulations and executive orders,…Often appoints judges ,Has power to grant pardons to convicted criminals

Names of the executive branch: Excutive

What is the legistrative branch: Writes and enacts laws,Enacts taxes, authorizes borrowing, and sets the budget,Has sole power to declare war,May start investigations, especially against the executive branch,Often appoints the heads of the executive branch,Sometimes appoints judges,Ratifies treaties

Names of the legistrative branch: legistrative

What is the judicial branch: Determines which laws apply to any given case,Determines whether a law is unconstitutional,Has sole power to interpret the law and to apply it to particular disputes May nullify laws that conflict with a more important law or constitution..,Determines the disposition of prisoners,Has power to compel testimony and the production of evidence

Names of the judicial branch: Judicial

After all if we can do with the US government…couldn’t God do it?

I'm not religious, but the concept of the trinity is the only christian concept that defines God in a manner that makes the MOST sense.

There is only one God, this is defined by the scriptures. Not three. God is composed of three separate personages: the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. The Father is not the Son, who is not the Spirit, the trinity is not to be confused with modalism.

The trinity is a defined concept that adheres to the concept of One God, while still allowing the divinity of those three personages.

You unreasonably expect something that is above reason to make sense. THAT is what does not make any sense. There is a certain amount that can be explained but in the final conclusion such a belief requires the gift of faith from God. No amount of intellectual studies will accomplish such a understanding. Because the source of the true knowledge of the Trinity springs from knowing God as love. The answer is hidden in love which is the great mystery of both God and life itself.

The trinity was added to Christianity hundereds of years after Jesus walked the earth. It wasn't fully defined until 425 AD by the Catholic Church, The original account of Jesus based on prophecies in the Old Testament, and first hand accounts in the New Testament never associate God with being Jesus, or a trinity.

Jesus was to be born as a flesh and blood decendant of King David. He was to be a second Adam, only this time, through his obedience, he would fix what the first Adam messed up. Restoring our connection with God through his spirit.

Jesus was one with God in purpose only. He was given authority by God to do great things, but he himself openly said that his Father was greater than himself.

The trinity makes no sense, but there are a handful of verses that are falsely used to support this doctrine. It doesn't appear any where in scripture.

Your friend, or anyone for that matter would be right to be confused. 1+1+1 does not equal 3. God is one, and he is above all, even his son our lord Jesus Christ.

I've documented the rise of this doctrine in my site truth-about-god.com

Christians see three aspects of God's being.

This should not be a surprise though! I can give myself as an example. I am a son to my parents, and a father to my daughter. I am both a father, and son, at the same time. I am also a tour guide, and a fiddle player (albeit a bad one!), a Theologian, and a bunch of other things. But, I am still just the one me.

Christians believe that Jesus was God, who became "incarnate" as a human being. So, he had a human mother (Mary), and God as his father. We say that Jesus was "of" God - "of the same substance." We say begotten for this, or "homoousios" if you are really fancy. The idea that Jesus is made of the same stuff as God, because he is God. So, we have God the Father, and God the Son - but, both God.

The Holy Spirit is just God's power by which he does everything. In Hebrew, both wind, and spirit translate to Ruach (רוח ). In Arabic, the two are a bit different, but, not by much: Wind is ريح and spirit is روح . I do not read Arabic, but, they look pretty similar.

So, we have God the Father, and creator of the universe, God the son (Jesus), the saviour of us, and God the Holy Spirit, the power by which He does everything. But, all still the one God.

In the Bible, Jesus is called Son of God, and also Son of Man. And, Son of David. The phrase `son of`means you have that as your ancestor. So, as we have human parents, we are all sons of man. Jesus had King David as an ancestor, so, he is a son of David. And, as Jesus came from God, he is Son of God - and also God.

First the Gospel of Matthew calls Jesus the Son of God in 17:5.

Next the title Son of Man was a Divine-Human title. Jesus clearly claimed to be the Son of Man from Daniel. In Mark 14:61-65, Jesus quotes Exodus 3:14 Calling Himself the 'I AM' the very name of God Himself, then He quotes Daniel 7:13,14 in which this Son of Man will come on the clouds which only God does as shown by Isaiah 19:1, also He quotes Psalms 110:1 in which He is the One seated at the right hand of Power. This clearly reveals a Divine Son of Man not a mere human one.

Also Jesus always said not that He was a Son of Man but The Son of Man the words being ho huios tou anthropou which is used consistently. Ancient texts had this view of the Son of Man I referred to for example 4 Ezra 13, shows a man coming up out of the heart of the sea whom the Most High identifies as My Son and subdues all nations. In 1 Enoch 62, it says the Son of Man will be seated upon the throne of His Glory. The Psalms of Solomon states "and their king shall be the Lord Messiah." 17:32 It also states that He will strike the earth with the Word of His mouth forever, that He will be free from sin and will not weaken in His days. In the Dead Sea Scroll (4Q521), it is stated that everyone in heaven and earth will listen to this Messiah. It also states that He will set the captives free, heal the injured, make alive the dead, and proclaim the good news. In the Simultitudes of Enoch the Davidic King is called 'Mighty God'. It also calls the Messiah the Son of Man and that before all things He existed and was given a Name, that those who lean on Him will not fall, that He will become the hope of those sick at heart. All will fall down before Him and worship Him. Thus He is and always was the Chosen One. (1 Enoch 48:3-6). The Dead Sea Scrolls book of 1 Samuel reads "when [God] has begotten the Messiah" 1QSa 2:11,12. To make my case stronger I refer to the Mishnah (Sanhedrin 7.5) which shows the procedure of One who pronounces the Divine Name "YHWH" to dishonor God. At the trials close the courtroom is cleared, and in the presence of the judges, the lead witness is instructed, 'Say expressly what you heard'. He then repeats the blaphemous words uttered against the accused, at which all the judges stand and rend their clothes. Which shows that Jesus did utter the Divine Name 'I AM' and referred it to Himself in Mark :-)

As for the Trinity for the sake of brevity I left u a link on it below to explain how it is logically possible for it to be true :-)

Everyone tends to think in the dimensions that they are most familiar with because they're scope of experience is convinced those dimensions are reliable. So if it has height, length, and depth, it becomes tangible, and representative of their experience of reality.

Some are able to expand that thought and add dimensions that others do not want to consider because they seem less viable, these additional dimensions are outside the realm of their experience, and therefore are intangible or considered as hypothesis.

One such dimension could be time. The idea of living within the scope of a dimension without time as a constant monitor of progress of one's life, or of one's decline, is beyond the realm of most peoples' consideration, simply because they do not want to waste time on hypothesis that cannot be proven.

What other dimensions can be considered in the same vein?

Taken to the least variables, the lowest common denominators, one could see a single dimension, a straight line, has no qualification. It is only one dimension. Two lines can represent things. With height and width, one could visualize concepts, draw ideas on a single plane that could represent even a third dimension, or depth. SO then with the commonly understood third dimension, objects become viable, including you and me, and all we see that has shape and form. Infinitely more variable is it not? With each added dimension, of these three, the variables become exponentially more abundant in possibility.

How much more so if dimensions of time, relational aspects of objects, or dimensions we cannot yet express as we have not experienced them, such as the spiritual dimension? And yet some suggest they have experienced the spiritual dimension, even if darkly or by some other agency outside of themselves.

Is it not possible that such dimensions could define personalities in more than one way?

Different personalities existing in one being that could express themselves separately is not a unique concept to faith in God, so why when applied to God is it so hard to grasp?

Trinity is a made up word trying with some degree of flaw to describe what is not describable in human experience.

Get over it.

God already told us His knowledge was far above ours. Would that surprise you if it were true?

Would you try to put the ocean in a paper cup? Would you need calculus to realize, it just isn't possible?

It becomes viable when we experience it. Till then, we have faith.

The Trinity is a false concept of God. They are not 3 in 1, they are 3 separate individuals. God Himself said that Christ was his Son, and can be found in Matthew 3 when Christ was baptized. Christ certainly wasn't talking to Himself, referring to Himself in the 3rd person, or praying to Himself throughout His lifetime. Christ being the Son of God is not a man made concept, but this incorrect nature of the Godhead is.

U know where u said son of human its actually son of man.

Son of man is a biblical name from daniel 7 OT it is not saying He is a human tho He was fully human fully God. Son of man is a divine term which is Jesus literally claiming to be God.

Daniel 7

9 “As I looked,

“thrones were set in place,

and the Ancient of Days took his seat.

His clothing was as white as snow;

the hair of his head was white like wool.

His throne was flaming with fire,

and its wheels were all ablaze.

10 A river of fire was flowing,

coming out from before him.

Thousands upon thousands attended him;

ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.

The court was seated,

and the books were opened.

11 “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. 12 (The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time.)

13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

What being other than God can:

Approach the Ancient of Days (obviously God) so boldly, this one called Son of Man

Can receive authority Glory and SOVEREIGN power (this means absolute all power omnipotence)

Can receive worship from Every people and language

What being can have a dominion and kingdom that last forever and He is King besides God Himself.

Jesus is Son of Man God in the flesh

God is 3 persons a personhood is made of their soul (mind emotion will) in one God being.

Just like we are soul (mind emotion will) body and spirit in one Human being

This is kinda gives u a idea of the similarity

Soul (soul has mind and emotions it makes the decisions). Father

Body. Jesus

Spirit. Holy Spirit

U know just cuz something doesnt make sense to our finite minds doesnt mean its not true. 1000 years ago wouldnt ppl think flight was impossible, yet today we have jets approaching hypersonic speed (mach 20) sound travels at supersonic which is mach ONE. If we cant comprehend earthly things fully how can we understand fully the infinite creater God. Can the axe understand the human. Our lack of ability to rationalize understand isnt a good bases for accepting truth. Is it truth period. The fact we cant understand fully shows God as the transcendant God.

No. No, I do not think that at all.

The idea of the Trinity is only confusing if one thinks of God as being the same as a human being with a lot of cosmic power.

The pagan gods of the Earth are like that, just people with some cosmic power, and their religions all match up with things that lesser created beings would think of. when using their imagination. In some of these false religions, "gods" even fight among themselves or sleep with each other's spouses. They act like powerful people at their worst. Strange for what should be "higher beings" than we are.

The Being that Christians and Jews call God, among other respectful things, is unique. He is the only original being. All other beings and things were made by Him. To look at Him as if He were just a powerful human, is to ensure misunderstanding. He and His ways are far above our ways. Christians and Jews have long believed this to be true. Worship of this same Being as the only God is documented for over 5000 years.

In the scriptures most Christians call the 'Old Testament', there is evidence of God having three parts to His Being, but it was not something the people needed to concern themselves with. He did not emphasize that there are three aspects to His person, likely because then it could needlessly confuse some people. With Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), the Son aspect of God being given to us in human form, it made sense that this be revealed to people in plain language. With the Holy Spirit aspect of God being given to disciples of Jesus (people like us) when they swear their loyalty to Him and are baptized in His name, it became Very important for people to know of God's three-part nature. By understanding at least THAT this is so, we can understand just how much God is reaching out to us.

People who trust in God have believed this for a long time with no proof or concepts to help us understand HOW this could be. Now, our modern knowledge is helping us catch up, and at the same time, it honors those who were faithful enough to believe when there was nothing beyond God's word, given to us through his followers. Modern day, through higher mathematics and experiments with the Cern Super Collider, we have proven that there are higher dimensions than the 3-D we experience, 4-D if Time is counted as a dimension.

The Bible references the existence of higher dimensions. God having His natural existence in a dimension higher than ours, or more likely outside of the dimensional system altogether, makes many things that look like paradoxes become perfectly sensible. How can God be everywhere at once? How can He be both far away and right here with me at the same time? How would He know the end of time from the beginning, as He has proven with well over a thousand prophecies that have come true? How?

Many things that have happened when God has interacted with humans throughout time have been done by Him solely for our benefit.

While Jesus (Yeshua) was on Earth, He was here as an example for us, as well as fulfilling His role as the prophetic figure of the Messiah. He did this to show us how to pray, how to look at God, and how to live our lives.

Jesus always directed us to the Father. While on Earth, He was separate from the Father in a similar way to how we are, showing us further how to serve and see God, and showing that God wanted us to know that HE knows what it is like to be us.

My three-natured God is not only the only deity there is, He is a God worth following.

Jesus was equal with God , not God . There is a difference. But thinking Jesus was God is in a broad sense accurate enough. Better than thinking Hitler, Stalin, or Dawkins is God , don't you think ?

Originally yes but after actually studying it, it made sense, thought admittingly it took a long **** time to figure it out.

The concept of Trinity is the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Quran. You just have to pay attention as you read them. Trinity just means that God, His Word Jesus, and His Holy Spirit are one God, and not 3 God. The Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit is God, that is easy to understand. God reveals Himself through His Word Jesus. Jesus is God Revealed or I AM or God In Person.

Thus, there are 3 major periods in Jesus life. Jesus is God Revealed in the Old Testament. Jesus is the Man, by emptying Himself of His divinity until His body died. When His body died on the cross, Jesus became fully God and His Spirit went to Hades to proclaim His victory over His enemies (1 Peter 3:19-20). In His uncorruptible, glorified, resurrection body, Jesus beamed into a closed room to meet His disciples, without opening the door. He beamed from one place to another instantaneously. Jesus ascended to Heaven, then He descended to turn Paul from a terrorist into His messenger. In the name of Jesus, His followers performed divine miracles. Jesus did not proclaim Himself as the Messiah (God-Man) until Palm Sunday because only then that the Old Testament prophesied that God rode a donkey. Jesus proclaimed Himself as the I AM, God Revealed, who told Moses that "I AM who I AM."

Jesus the LORD (in all caps indicating God), was one of the 3 persons to visit Abraham in Genesis 18. That is why Jesus said, "Before Abraham was, I AM" proclaiming Himself as the God of Moses.

Jesus led Moses and the Jews out of Egypt. “So the LORD (Jesus) spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle” (Ex 33:11).

Then the LORD (Jesus) came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they never did so again. But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp. And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." (Num 11:25-30, NKJV).

Historically “This formula – Bimillahi rrahmani rraheem – is of Jewish origin. It was in the first instance taught to the Koreish by Omayah of Taief the poet (one of the Hanyfs, Sprenger, i.76) who was a contemporary with, but somewhat older than, Muhammad, and who, during his mercantile journeys into Arabia Petraea and Syria, had made himself acquainted with the sacred books and doctrines of Jews and Christians (Kitab al-Aghani, 16, Delhi). Muhammad adopted and constantly used it, and it is prefixed to each Sura except the ninth” (1876 J.M.Rodwell “The Koran”). In the original Aramaic Syriac, this formula would read “Bismilallaha Rahmana Rhima” as Aramaic Syriac uses the word “Allah” or Allaha” for the English word “God.” Syriac Christians at the time of Muhammad called Jesus as Rahmana (1902 H. Hirschfeld “New Researches into the Composition and Exegesis of the Quran).

Quran 4:171 says, “Christ Jesus the son of Mary was an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him … Say not ‘three (Allah)’ desist … for Allah is one Allah.” (FYI: the word Trinity is not in the Quran). By good logic you, your word, and your spirit are one person and not three persons. Similarly, Allah the Father, His Word (Son) Jesus, and His Holy Spirit are all divine, and yet ONE Allah and not three Allah.

Unlike salvation through the 5 pillars, the Quran clearly proclaims that salvation is only through the Grace of God (Rahmanullah or Allah Ar-Rahman). “None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from Ar-Rahman” (Quran 19:87). See also 17:110 25:59-60, 20:108-109, 19:18-21.

The Bible proclaims that we are saved by Rahman (Grace) through Jesus, not by our own works but as a gift, and transformed by Rahim (Mercy) through the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-8 NKJV, Eph 2:7-8). Truth and Rahman came through Jesus (John 1:17). Jesus is Ar-Rahman, and the Holy Spirit is Ar-Rahim. The Quran agrees with the Bible that intercession or salvation comes only through Jesus Ar-Rahman. We pray in the name of one Allah: the Father, the Most Gracious Son Jesus, and the Most Merciful Holy Spirit. Thus, according to the Quran and the Bible, salvation is only through Jesus.

“If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee (in the Quran), then ask those who have been reading the Bible from before thee” (Quran 10:94). Obey Q10:94.

No, but if you can make it past Genesis, then everything and anything should make sense.
