. . . everyone becomes an atheist at death.

Ecclesiastes 9:5

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

For one thing, I am not, it is just some of us like to throw it in your face cause it gets you irritated, like it did you, and I know it did, or you wouldn't have asked this question, and another thing, Do you just pull a sentence out of a book and and formulate something about that sentence without reading the entire book or at least Chapter ? Hmm? Obviously you do, because had you rest the rest of Chapter 9 in Ecclesiastes you would understand the Context of what Solomon was saying BUT as we know you just pulled that out of some atheist lying web site and parroted it, right? thought so.

That Passage speaks of The development of Solomon's idea that all share the destiny in this meaningless life of ours. This is certainly how things appeared to Solomon with his under the sun premise.

Speaking from his premise, the Preacher says that all have the same fate, but he does not like it. It's wrong that one event happens to the righteous and the wicked.

You have it all the wrong way around my friend.;

Everyone does NOT become an atheist at death.

All human beings are BORN spiritually dead in trespasses and sins through the Adamic Sin Nature and they have their whole life to get born all over again and be saved from God's wrath through Christ.

In the above scripture God is referring to those who are both physically and spiritually dead. They don't know anything; they have no reward and their memory is forgotten.

There is no such thing as a death-bed conversion. People may know they are dying and get frightened but unless they get saved the way we all must through Christ who is the only way to the Father, there is no conversion, just empty fear-filled words.

Because Christians believe that the time in Sheol is simply a waiting period for judgement day when Jesus comes to judge the living and the dead.

At least that's what the bible says, LOTS of Christians don't even believe that, opting for the incorrect modern beliefs (such as we go to heaven or hell right after we die). Many Christians don't even realize that, according to the scriptures, hell doesn't even exist yet and won't until the second coming.

you left out verse 6 which goes with verse 5

6 Their love and their hatred and their envy have already perished; neither have they any more a share in anything that is done under the sun.

the dead know not nothing that happens under the sun or on earth

its not saying the dead are not alive after death like you are trying to make it sound

when we die our spirit returns to god

Ecclesiastes 12:6-7

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6 [Remember your Creator earnestly now] before the silver cord [of life] is snapped apart, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern [and the whole circulatory system of the blood ceases to function];

7 Then shall the dust [out of which God made man’s body] return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God Who gave it.

the idea that someone can look at all the 'evidence' that they've seen and still not be convinced of this nonsense is really strange to them.

you have to read the first passage and not just single one phrase out to get it. basically from the point of life nothing is certain but death.like all religions there is only one way to guarantee a trip to hell, killing yourself.so, there is hope beyond death but not in it. as far as death bed conversions, they convert because they are scared that they are going to hell. they dont really believe in God as much as they are just hoping not to go to hell.

That statement made by Solomon was following the one where he said he went in search of the world's wisdom, not God's wisdom. Read in context before you bet your life on it.

I don't know, but it kind of amuses me. I'm resigned to the idea of death.

It's just sleep without dreams.

I personally don't care, because that is between them and God, and I am not personally trying to sell anything.

However, deathbed conversions are a measure of where ones heart really lies. If you can say so-and-so-big-name-atheist converted on his deathbed, it indicates he was never really an atheist, but agnostic.
