He slew him, but with what? It does not say. He could have used his fist or a rock or a thick branch. he planted crops and grew crops so he may have used stone to dig holes.

I mean, how did he get stuff to kill with? You can find natural items to kill with. You do not need items of metal.

Was he an inventor? probably , it says he built a city.

How Did Cain Kill Abel

Cain "Slew" his brother.

By definition If one is slain he is killed by a blade, not a rock.

Therefore Cain killed Abel with either a knife, spear or sword.

Interesting note: the word Cain can mean 'Spear' and "blacksmith" in some etymologies.

A lamb is killed by slitting its throat

Abel as a type of Christ, if killed in this manner as indicated, would therefore be "a lamb slain at the foundation of the world" a descriptor used by John the Baptist to identify Christ at his baptism.

The spear of destiny, a bladed instrument of death, plays a conspicuous role at the crucifixion when the Roman soldier thrusts it into the side of Christ (the new Abel) releasing a torrent of water and blood.

Cain was a farmer and might would have used a spear type implement to poke holes in the ground to plant seeds. It is speculated by some that this spear could have been used to stab Abel in the side (like Christ) and slit his throat causing him to bleed profusely and die quickly without being able to say a word....the silence of the lamb.

Conclusion:

From textural and other evidence it appears more likely than not that the instrument of death was a blade.

The world's first shepherd and imminent type of Christ murdered by his own brother for his superior piety.

I bet, even then, they used to tools in the field. A plowshare or a scythe. Looking around, I found this blog post and I found it made the most senses.

Cain was jealous that Abel's animal sacrifices were accepted in the Lord and his were not. So, he took that same sacrificial dagger and drove it into Abel's heart.

the thing is cain killed abel because abel was really not talking to God or because he is the favorite, but abel was talking to lucifer.. making abel his pet. cain love his brother so much that he cannot stand his brother being corrupted so he made a deal with lucifer. soul of abel to heaven and cain himself in hell. lucifer agreed but only if cain will send his bother himself to heaven. so he killed abel. - supernatural, tv series :) yeah right!

1 John 3:12 says, "not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous" (NASB). "Slew" comes from the Greek word "sphazo," a rare word for murder or kill (it's used only 9x in the whole NT). It means "to slaughter, to butcher, to put to death by violence," or "to mortally wound." However Cain did it, it was bloody and violent (Genesis 4:10 records that the voice of Abel's blood cried to the LORD from the ground—Cain probably did not strangle him). My personal view is this: when God rejected Cain's sacrifice, he slaughtered his brother like a lamb—slitting his throat—as if to say, "You want a 'sacrifice,' LORD, I'll give you one!"

The Bible says that Cain traveled to the land of nod, in the east and found a wife, the creation story is not literal, and Implies even in the story itself two versions of human creation, I believe it to be about the first really civilized people but that is just my take.

Why not a jawbone? Seems like a good tool for pre-iron/bronze age people.

It doesn't say. He could have used his hands, a rock, a club, or something else. The Bible does say that he was a tiller of the soil, so he may have had tools.

I believe it was with the sharpened jaw bone of a lamb, sharp and pointed teeth, lamb to symbolize the death of innocence.

My guess would be blunt force trauma. You don't have to be an inventor to pick up a rock.

Probably caved his head in with a club.

If you assume that this story has any relationship to truth, it may be difficult for you to understand that technology is not required to commit murder. Humans are notoriously fragile.

You don't have to have a gun to kill someone :) Contrary to the liberals who think murder came along only after handguns.

But the Bible does not say what he actually used.

Cain was the first ninja. He ripped Abel's still beating heart out of his ribcage.

Just like that.
