Im a stay at home mum and my husband earns minimum wage.
We are struggling but not struggling tovthe point that we have nothing to eat. Both our brothers are getting married in a few months and we are forking out quite a bit of money for them since we are both on their bridal parties.
By the grace of god my husband got offered to work for a two week stint and will be making quite a bit of money. With that money our plans were to pay off some debts and be able to give our brothers a nice wedding gift and participate in upcoming events for them.
He came home today and told me he wanted to give $100 to charity from the money he made. God bless his heart and I know this sounds really bad but I really think we should help ourselves before others. Im going back to work in july and am more then happy to give then but i still feel that now we should keep every dollar for us.... mind u we aren't big spenders and are happy with very little.
Please enlighten my heart!

God's word teaches us about being selfless. I am touched by your husband wanting to give to charity and if this is what God has instilled in his heart to do, who are we to step in God's way and go with our own thinking? Is God not all the wiser? If we go against His commands, are we saying we are smarter than God?

All things belong to God and He should be included in the spending of this money. Not what we think, but what He thinks.

I do not say these things to harm you, but to tell you the truth of His word.

God Bless You!

Here is some enlightenment.

Luke 6: 38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Kylie,

if God has placed it on your husband's heart to give then he should honor that. Remember, sometimes we have to step out in faith and honor God with what little we have. Sure, it would be easy for all of us to give if we had more than enough - but sometimes we must obey the calling of God on our lives even when it's hard. Have faith in what Christ is doing in your lives. Trust Him in all situations and know that if He leads you somewhere, He will also lead you out.

Your husband sounds very generous, but I really believe you should be discussing this with him NOT asking a bunch of strangers.

A good marriage involves communication with both parties (husband and wife). If you don't agree with your husband you SHOULD tell him about it, let him know what you think and why.

I do hope both of you can come to some agreement on this matter.

There are people with much less , you are supposed to give 10% of what you make at least whether you're barely getting by or whether you have money to throw around , you are not supposed to hoard money for yourself but give everything you can away no matter how little or how much you have :)

If your husband gives to charity God won't let either of you fall. My advice is to trust Him :)

Give!

remember the story of the women who gave just two monies!

Jesus said she gave more than everybody else cause they gave out of their abundance.

God says when you give to the poor you loan to the lord.

I need to give more than I do!
