Question:
What is the evidence against the existence of God?

For those who reflexively say that you can't prove a negative, nonsense. We are constantly proving the negative by denying the consequent.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modus_tollens

For example, we can prove that drinking wine is not a sin. If drinking wine were a sin, then Jesus would not drink wine. However, Jesus drank wine (denying the consequent). Therefore, drinking wine is not a sin (proving the negative).

Providing evidence against the existence of God should follow a similar line of reasoning, e.g., if God existed, we should see a certain consequence. But we do not see that consequence, therefore God does not exist.

Fill in the blanks: What is the evidence against the existence of God?

There is no evidence against the existence of God.

The very best logic and reason shows that there has to be a single, intelligent, eternally-existent, infinite, supernatural First Cause of the material realm.

There is no other rational option.because all naturalistic options have to imbue matter with the qualities attributable to God, i.e. intelligence, creative powers, potential to create life and information, ability to bypass natural laws etc.etc. This is impossible unless you believe in the unscientific notion that matter has miraculous, magical powers and is itself some sort of god.

You should know better: define your terms. Start with "God".

EDIT: There is a thing called the burden of proof, and it lies solely on the shoulders of the person asserting that a premise is true (which is *really* what "there is a god" is...it can not be deduced from rational argument). You are creating a straw man by assuming all atheists are positive atheists. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every atheist I know personally is a negative atheist. Furthermore, I have no clue why you think that such a ridiculous argument should impress (or be of any other use to) people who lack a belief in one or more gods:

Premise 1: Jesus never sinned.

Premise 2: Jesus drank wine.

Conclusion: Drinking wine is not a sin.

You haven't proven a negative, because you're presupposing a third premise ("sin is real"), which *itself* presupposes another premise ("There is a god")...to say nothing of the historicity of any biblical account. Unless you think there can be a secular notion of 'sin' that makes any sense whatsoever? Congratulations, you're part of a long lineage of duplicitous rationalist theologians who think they can do an end run around actual experience in the world by constructing fallacious arguments and tirelessly engaging in an exclusively Christian form of obscurantism. Pathetic!

The only evidence they have against the existence of God is that he's not in their personal lives. They assume that if they don't see him, nobody can and this is absurd. You have to humble yourselves and repent and be willing to follow Jesus, and believe.

I want to know which one of you had read the whole bible as a whole and just not tidbits? I really want to know, so many people have read The Great Gatsby or To kill a Mocking Bird, but how many of you have read the whole bible? Until you have and fully understand it, does ask stupid questions. I know where I am going my faith has always overcame everything. Once you realize you have been missing something in your life and nothing makes you happy then you will notices GOD is real but it will be too late because you will be burning in hell with your lovely corner parts. People that have no religion make me sick, you have nothing better to do then to prove someone wrong... Grow the hell up prove stuff on your own maybe you will learn something.

You will only give me a thumbs down because you know you are worthless.

Lies are your answer.

For there is not only the Bible, But records have been found in neighboring countries proving that the Bible is true. History they wrote down too.

Then there are tens of thousands that have all passed away, been saved back to life, then all had the same experience. Anyone that had tried to kill themselves went to hell with the fire all around them. All others, even ones that had killed a person, all went to the judgment area. They stayed there until they were brought back to live.

Then there are miracles that are far beyond anything else. Even science.

Tell me where you and I came from? Where did the first atom come from that split into two, then four, then eight,.... into all needed for the 'big bang' theory (not proved),... into all the stars, moons, planets,.... from water to fish, tress to birds, flowers to mice, fox to whales,... to us with the ability to type here and even LOVE? Where did that first atom come from?

The fact that as defined in the Bible, God has logically contradictory traits. That is, it is asserted, A and B, where A and B are mutually exclusive (mutex).

Show me a number which is both odd and even. You cannot, because the two properties are mutex.

Same thing with your god.

What evidence is there against the existence of a giant invisible, intangible unicorn in my back garden? None, so why don't you believe in it?

The fact that there are no consequences of God's existence is exactly what we're saying. You just said it yourself - there is no consequential evidence of God's existence, therefore God does not exist. E.g., if God existed, we would expect to see valid, objective, reliable evidence of his miracles. But we do not see that consequence, therefore God does not exist.

I wouldn't call this evidence against the existence of God. I would just say that there is no evidence for the existence of God. Important difference, I think.

there are more than one..... in fact there are thousands of gods, which have been invented by the imagination of mankind and none has been shown to be more credible than the others.

so, as you mention Jesus, I guess we are talking about the judeo-christian deity

god is supposed to be all knowing, yet the bible shows the opposite (adam and eve, garden of eden)

god is supposed to be merciful, yet the bible shows the opposite (god hardens Pharaohs heart and kills all the firstborn)

good is supposed to be good, yet the bible shows the opposite (mark 4:12)

i could go on and on, but I cant be bothered...

There is no evidence. This isn't exactly an issue, everyone knows this, the real question is this: What is the evidence for the existence of God?

the total lack of evidence for a god is a good one.

the fact that the christian god has mutually exclusive qualities is a good one.

also i think you are getting confused on what modus tollens is.

Your question should be reversed ... is there any evidence at all whatsoever that God DOES exist? There is none ... belief in God is based on faith alone ... not evidence. The Bible is not evidence, it is a book. Aesops Fables is a book ... does that mean there really was a race between a tortoise and a hare? Only some of the facts in the Bible can be verified ... and those facts support historical events, not proof of the divine. Even the events it supports are not totally accurate. Not just when compared to history, but even when compared from one book of the Bible to another.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?

Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?

Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able, and willing?

Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?

Then why call him God.

Bill Said: No scientific evidence supports The Big Bang or Evolution.

Science does show that the Single Cell is to complex to have just happened. Intelligent Design.

So that leaves us with a choice ....

Which God?

The Bible Prophecy and archeology prove that The Messiah has come and The Messiah Jesus proves that the Bible predicted him and He came.

Evidence is archeology and prophecy together with what we have seen in the Single Cell!!

First of all ANY Sin is Sin ....!

You that is any group of MEN do not GET TO choose the Sin of LUST, Child and Wife abuse and say it is o.k. BUT Out of the other side of your mouth say that getting drunk is NOT o.k.

Jesus says Guilty of one Sin Guilty of ALL SIN!

(Romans 3:20 KJV) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

(Romans 3:21 KJV) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

(Romans 3:22 KJV) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

(Romans 3:23 KJV) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Falsely honoring Jesus while saying He is not God is a Lie.

(John 14:6 KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

So quit lying to the gullible .... If you worship ALLAH according to Jesus you are still dead in your sins and have no HOPE!

Sincere Said:

Bill Said:

I guess you have not read the story of Jesus turning Water into Wine.

(John 2:3 KJV) And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

I guess you have not read the story of Jesus being accused of being a Winebibber

(Matthew 11:19 KJV) The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

We know that it is O.K. to LIE in your religion as long as it is to an unbeliever in ALLAH!

To Kill as long as it is an enemy!

To take all of His possessions as long as He is an enemy! ETC> ETC.....

Jesus Christ preached the exact opposite .... The Godly way of treating our enemies.

(Matthew 5:44 KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

(Matthew 5:45 KJV) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Christians Should read what Sharia Law teaches!

Passive Muslims still support the Jahid .... Killings making them not Peaceful!

, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed.

Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual.

**** Is this a Virtue??

Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.

*** Is this a Virtue?

Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.

While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule,

Is This a Virtue??

Sharia teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims.

Is This a Virtue??

Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.

While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God,

*** Is this a Virtue??

Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism .

Is this a Virtue??

It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed.

Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West,

Is this a Virtue??

such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation.

While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time,

Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere.

***** Is this what you Want??

(In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President by themselves!

Rest assured they will do so.. You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA.

Dearborn Mich. Is one..

And there are others..)

Where is the ACLU on this??? NOT HOME >>>> because they are part of the Liberal Problem.

It is too bad that so many are disillusioned with life and Christianity to accept Muslims as peaceful.

Some may be

but

** is this the Virtue you require??

they have an army that is willing to shed blood in the name of Islam.

** Is this a Virtue??

The peaceful support the warriors with their finances and own kind of patriotism to their religion.

While America is getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children

****Is this the Virtue??

the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America.

IN GOD We Trust.. God Bless Our Military..

What Virtue???

Why in the World of Common Sense would you consider this as a Religion of Good intention??

They have no Virtue?

They marry 1 year old babies and rape them when they are 9!

Cut their female gentiles off and use them as sex toys.

Their reward in heaven is to get 12 more innocent females and abuse them!!

They beat their wifes if they want to and can have a prostitute if they need one while she is mad at them.

VIRTUE??

Not in The Bible which explains the Virtuous God!
