I was deeply saddened when I read about this girl being murdered by her father. I pray for her and her family.

Your statement ,"Why do Muslim Women Pretend to like being forced to cover. is out of context to the subject. It doesn't make any sense to me. How can someone actually "like being forced to" ? You know that it is not liked by anyone to be forced to do anything. Islam does not teach fathers to force its religion on their daughters. No compulsion in religion. Fathers in Islam should teach, advise and show humanity to their children.

I am a Muslim woman. I am living in an Islamic country. Our Koran clearly states that women must wear the hijab. That is not a choice. That is a rule. Having said that, Muslim women around the world, including in most Islamic countries, DO have a choice in wearing or not wearing the hijab. Saudia and Iran are the exceptions. Your statement, "most women only follow out of GREAT fear." is actually incorrect. Most women wear the hijab out of choice. Check your facts. Only 2countries force it.

If I were this strong, independent girl, which are fine characteristics in Islam, I would have been one wearing a hijab instead of " being forced "not to wear one by my peers.

I'm not a sister, but as a Muslim brother, I am deeply upset by this act of horror! According to the teachings I have received and continue to receive about Islam and being a Muslim, I have not found a single source that forces a sister to wear a hijab.

If a sister chooses not to wear a hijab or burka, it is her choice and no one, not even her parents or husband can forces her to wear one. The sister may or may not have a reason for not wearing the hijab, but others should respect her wishes.

Islam does not force anyone to do anything. It is our choice to follow the principals and teachings of the faith.

First of all i would like to ask how authentic is the actual fact that the fatehr did kill her daughter coz she didnt wear Hijab?

The second thing is, that wearing the hijab or covering of the hair has been a comandment from the times of Moses, Jesus and Islam. Many jewish woemn still cover their heads, and there are also verses in the Bible about women needing to cover there heads in modesty. Brother me as a muslim, do not wear the Hijab even tho i would like to but have not yet found the confidence too. Not one day in my life have i ever been forced or asked to wear one.

It is God who created the laws not man.

Qoutes from the Bible

There can be only one answer to this: yes, it is! Simply open the Bible to the First Epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 11. Read verses 3-10.

But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered, disgraces his head. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered disgraces her head, for it is the same as if she were shaven. For if a woman is not covered, let her be shaven. But if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. A man indeed ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man. For man was not created for woman, but woman for man. This is why the woman ought to have a sign of authority over her head, because of the angels.

The meaning of this passage is plain enough. We can make the following syllogisms:

Syllogism 1

Praying with an uncovered head is a disgrace

Having a shaved head is the same as praying with an uncovered head

Therefore, having a shaved head is a disgrace

Syllogism 2

If it is a disgrace for a woman to have a shaved head, she should cover her head

It is a disgrace for a woman to have a shaved head - see syllogism 1

Therefore, a woman should cover her head

The link doesn't work for me, sorry coundn't read it.

I do wear the hijab, ive been wearing it from the age of 11 till now. I was nevr forced to wear it and it was my personal choice. This man who killed his daughter for not wearing the hijab is sssssoooooo upsetting how can a muslim man....or any other man kill his own daughter. In Islam this is forbidden, this man shouldn't have hit or killed his own daughter.

Hope i helped

So just because a father killed his daughter for not wearing hijab, this means Muslim women wear hijab out of fear? this is ridiculous.

I live in an Islamic country (Egypt) .. 90% of women here wear hijab .. Yes some of them wear it just to satisfy their families, but the majority wear it by choice.
Who?

Thats very sad, and father has sinned and will be punished by God for comitting a major sin. Quran says " there is no compulsion in religion". If God says that then who is the father to force.

I also feel sorry for the girl, not only becos she was murdered, but becos she missed the point of the beautiful life style of hijab that her father was suggesting..... i`m sorry for her that she fought against something that was good for her.

What is your problem, I thought this was a free country. How come when nuns cover themselves you don't say they are wearing it out of fear, only muslims! Why?!
2007-12-14 13:48:35 UTC
i don't wear the hijab because of fear from a father or any one. i wear it because i want to.. and yes that girl may Allah bless her soul was a victim of her dad.and that is wrong he should be punished

if i was in her situation i don't know what i would do. my family is not like that so i don't know how she felt .

lets all pray for her soul to be blessed
