In the US a kind of generic, 'hodge-podge' mixture of the different disciplines of Buddhism is popular. I have studied Buddhism extensively and in the East, from where it sprang, it is very devout and a religion, something Westerners do not always understand. The Pure Land Buddhist temple in my community is Vietnamese and it is most definitely their 'religion', NOT their philosophy. It is strict. There is 'sin' and redemption.
This 'Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion' is not true but some Westerners espouse this viewpoint.

you will be a suitable Buddhist everywhere interior the international. i'm a Buddhist when you consider that delivery, moved to united statesa. a million/2 my lifetime in the past, and that i've got extra faith in my faith now than I even have ever been. For as quickly as, I strengthen up and become extra mature. 2nd, Buddhism is all approximately looking peace interior your self, and you attain that by skill of forgive, love, and enable flow. Buddha does no longer seem at a cut back to rubble concern and have been given pissed off and mad, so which you may desire to no longer the two. you won't be able to alter human beings, this is why they have loose will, human beings will and could have self belief in in spite of they decide to have self belief, this is why Buddha's philosophy is by no skill dictating "stick to my handbook or you will flow to hell", whether this is approximately helping, this is a thank you to define peace interior your self. purely stay your guy or woman life to the fullest, help out others, lead by skill of occasion, etc...

Taoism
Taoist beliefs include teachings based on revelations from various sources. Therefore, different branches of Taoism often have differing beliefs, especially concerning nature. Nevertheless, there are certain core beliefs that nearly all the sects share. These relate to the symbology of the Tai-Chi, or Yin Yang symbol, and the notion of wu-wei (action through inaction) which seek to counterbalance Yin with Yang at every opportunity. Generally speaking, Taoists believe in embodiment and pragmatism, engaging practice to actualize the natural order within themselves. Also, they believe that life should be peaceful and filled with joy.
